Where is Ponchewan supposed to be set in? Switzerland or Thailand? I'm so confused because it seemed like they heavily promoted Ponchewan as being set in Switzerland. All the pictures, trailers, MV scenes were of the characters abroad... so I thought it would be similar to Khun Chai Pawonrut.

But from the new trailer and from the snippets of new characters I've seen it's like only the first two episodes were in Switzerland and then it'll be set in the Thai countryside?

Title Dhevaprom: Dujupsorn Spoiler
Episode 12 was so damn messy... I wonder how are they going to fix all this in 3 episodes. They dragged the plot…
Re Ep12: They've been so good with pacing, like having Rumpa/Fah meet the main Thewaprom patriarch early on, Phum meeting Rumpa, Chawit finding out about Fah, etc. but the doctor storyline was left hanging for too long. I could do with more scenes between Rumpa and the Doctor and less of Rumpa's monologues about the Juthateps to Fah.

Re Ep13: YES!! On Ploy's escalating the issue. Another thing that felt like messy writing was Ploy's distrust of Chavit that didn't resolve UNTIL she finds out Fah is his cousin. I understand her doubts and his reputation as a playboy, but given their family history and how they've been best friends their entire lives, you should know your friend's character better than that and give him the benefit of the doubt. It's fine to be shocked, but better character development would be Ploy working to overcome her distrust of Vit by addressing what she saw with him head-on rather than avoiding him.

When Petch confidently said that he loves Fah to her aunt, I thought it would be the start of him finally fighting for her. He went to her hometown, helped arrange housing for her, implied to Tangmo that he was going to marry Fah... only to meet Fah and proceed to call her his future sister-in-law again. Sigh.

Title Dhevaprom: Dujupsorn Spoiler
For people who have read the book, did Fah mom's really just left when her husband was dying and her daughter was crying to her for help? That's such an awful thing to do and for Fah to witness. Realistically, I can't imagine Fah forgiving her mother after that, or Aunt Pohn allowing Rumpa to live with her and have contact with Fah if Rumpa did nothing at all to help her brother.

In my fantasy, I like to imagine that Rumpa didn't completely abandon her daughter and husband, but maybe had a flashback of her poisoning Grandma Orn while grabbing medicine for her husband, so she freaked and ran away to call for help. Idk, but it would have made her more complex and not one-dimensional.

I'm excited to see how Rumpa will address Fah's claim that she and her dad were a mistake. I wished they didn't try to cram everything into one episode but have two more. From the BTS and the spoofs at the end of each episode, they filmed many scenes that got cut. They should have Ep15 resolve the Rumpa and Juthathep storyline. And Ep16 shows Rumpa healing from the past, improving her relationship with the Juthateps, her sisters and sister-in-law, and her daughter, and then of course scenes between Fah and Petch.

They could have handled Petch's development in episode 13 better. One moment Poom is telling him that Fah loves…
Yes!! I was shocked when he said, "They probably laughing thinking the Jutathep's men are so weak. Especially the eldest. I can just wiggle my finger and he'll come running." That's such a disrespectful and demeaning thing to say about someone you claim to love. Not to mention hypocritical because in the first episode during the coffee and cake scene, Fah didn't have to "wiggle her finger," at all, Petch alone was chasing after her and acting inappropriately as her boss.

It's such an interesting contrast that when Phu found out Laorchan deceived him, he sobbed in frustration because he was heartbroken and felt used. But Petch lashed out cause his ego took a hit. For all his gripes about being the eldest, I find him the most immature out of the male leads + Phum. He lacks so much confidence.

Petch is the most inconsistent character in this entire drama.

Hi there! I shared this with someone awhile back but I'll share it again. I watched S1 from back then and this…
Agreed. In Duangjai Tewaprom, the Grandma's role is watered down a lot. She seems like a regular feeble, old lady wanting to make amends. But in the original series, I remember Grandma Orn was quite the antagonist. Didn't she hate the FL in every part? Especially if they were poor? She talked to and treated people she deemed "lower class" condescendingly. She was very arrogant and fueled Rumpa's delusion.

I hope the climax scene in Dujupsorn pays off. Not just between Rumpa and Grandma Orn, but with Marathee too.

Again, I must applaud how the director and the cast are able to highlight the theme of privilege and struggle.…
Sometimes how the male characters in this part talk about and treat Fah bothers me... on one hand, they claim to be gentlemen, but then they'll go around saying passive-aggressive stuff like "she's not a woman that has that much influence over me," "beware of a woman like her," etc. It's like they fawn for her attention and then talk poorly about her when she doesn't reciprocate.

I felt particularly icky by Petch's aggressive flirting early on, then when misunderstanding strikes he retreats, shuns her, and leaves her to the mercy of office gossip. Not to mention trying to relocate her to work for Phu (Gulf)... I’m not a fan of how he handles situations… pawning Fah off to Phum and then Phu.

Now Phum is trying to play matchmaker but it only complicates things more. Maybe it's just me but I also felt sad by that one scene where Vit said "Remember it's only the four of us siblings (Petch, Ploy, Vit, Lisa)" implying they have to stick together.

I agree this part shows the difference in privilege and how it can shelter someone from hardship. If Lisa wasn’t born into privilege, she’ll face public humiliation like Fah; if Fah didn’t have a mom with mental issues, she could have had a support system like Lisa.

they have different ost too. During the Juthathep series, the lyrics are the same but the music is different,…
I applaud Khun Ja and the production team for making an effort in filming outdoors and their use of nuanced lighting. It's obviously hard work but it makes a big difference in storytelling.

Historically, I've observed this from the following production companies

1. Act Art (Laorjan) - Often has a complicated storyline that viewers either find interesting or dry and boring. Historical fiction, set in regional parts of Thailand, especially the North

2. No Problem / Feel Good (Kwanreuthai) - Not sure what this team is like but the director and producer are known for launching newbie actors into superstardom (i.e. Nadech/Yaya, Bella/James Ji, and now Mikey)

3. Metta & Mahaniyom (Jaipisut) - Obsessed with action to the point it’s kind of laughable. Think cowboy stories, cops, government corruption, etc.

4. Maker Family / Maker Y (Dujupsorn) - Family company? I think when it’s produced by the bro (Jett) it sucks, but when it’s produced by the sis (Ja aka Dujupsorn’s producer) it’s good.

5. Good Feeling (PonChewan) - Not sure what this production team, director, and producer are like but I often feel when dramas are filmed overseas they’re relying on pretty European scenery to sell rather than the story or acting ability…. but we'll see

Thank God Poom has two brain cells to rub together and realises inserting himself between Fah and Petch would…
I thought I would be so annoyed by Poom's role here but I think his character is really well done and quite enjoyable. Petch annoys the heck out of me. Given his constant "I'm the eldest brother. I value directness above all" shtick yet he often acts petulant.
On Dhevaprom: Jaipisut Jun 22, 2024
Overall, I think this part would have benefited from fewer episodes or a stronger production team that's not Metta & Mahaniyom. The first half they pushed the orphan kids storyline, then they switched to the Wilarumpai storyline (and dragggggged it--as if the series didn't drop Dujapsorn's trailer at the same time) then added the random storyline with the Whale Kid's parents.

Looking forward to Tate and Oom's next story together though. They have good chemistry off-screen but because the filming for this one was done so long ago I couldn't help but notice how baby face Tate is and how the short hair is making Oom look way older than she is. Western faces tend to look mature faster than Asian faces so I think their next drama together the age gap won't be as visually obvious.
