Regarding the Sanitary thing, I just thought there was an off screen conversation about it but in real world it…
I got that it was a product placement and by now I am used to uncalled for presents with lengthy explanations how good the product is, but this one made it a bit weird.

Agreed , especially since she is a professional teacher, she should know better. If she was a researcher who isn't used to work with minors and wants to guide him mathematically, she could still be excused for not realizing.

I love math but this is legit High Class with teens and that's just penthouse with less screaming ;/it's like…
I watched episode 2 yesterday and was mainly thinking about how to calculate the probability that n random points in a circle form an n-gon and am finding the problem fun to tackle.

Otherwise, I agree. Maths is a plot device to a standard drama and I find the overlaying of formulae and obsession with Ramanujan a bit forced. On the other hand, they at least portray maths as fun and creative and from a drama side the plot has enough conflict evolving to become interesting.

Not sure if it is a cultural thing, but developing a perfume "Smelling like mother" and buying sanitary pads on the first day together without being asked to do so is weird to me.

Well I agree. Harry Potter is one of the most legendary things. I won't like it if it gets a remake but we were…
And I thoroughly enjoyed reading the list, don't get me wrong. The picks for Harry, Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall and Voldemort I can even see work.
But especially the Weasleys are so chaotic in the books and original - the Chinese actors look to neat and proper.
Anushka Jun 4, 2021
I feel like there is something really old-fashioned, ordinary and English about Harry Potter that wouldn't properly convert to C drama. It may work, but would feel totally different - more like any generic school drama.
The proposed cast is just too pretty.
On Love and Fortune May 20, 2021
I dropped it as it was uncomfortable to watch, which I guess is a compliment when thinking of the topic.
On Lovestruck in the City Apr 11, 2021
I really dislike the interview-style introductions/comments and the way the story is told alongside them. They completely break the immersion for me and are the reason I am dropping the show.

Without the 150 000 CNY credit on the 9FBank-App (*showing mobile into camera*) I would not have been able to watch this legally on Netflix...
Enjoying the show so far but that one sponsor is very invasive with their product placement.

PS: not sure if this counts as spoiler, as the placement has nearly become a plot device.

My question is, is this WORTH the 41 episodes binge-watch?
I just dropped it at episode 26 as I got more and more annoyed by the FL and didn't particularly care about most characters.
On Find Yourself Mar 23, 2021
So far the highlight was hearing Grieg's Solveig's song in the soundtrack.

The rest seems mediocre. I am now at episode 12 and while entertained, not totally convinced and annoyed at some characters. If it doesn't improve I will probably drop it.

Am I the only one that got stuck? I am on episode 5 and I have no desire to finish it. Don't know why because…
I have nerves of steel and made all through episode 6 :)
But same problem here: no desire to continue, but can't quite put my finger on why. Story seems interesting enough, acting is good, production value is good. It is just somehow a bit boring.

If you love the actors, these are my suggestions: If you really love Moon Chae Won (Cha Ji Won) acting, try The…
Just be careful with those older (pre 2013-15) kdramas. They have significantly worse production value and the acting is also different. I normally need to force my way through the first 1 to 2 episodes before I am used to it again.

Why?
In this drama it's nice and all. But I got the same feeling.

The obsession with the female lead, him being a bit too well-spoken, the borderline weird hobbies and interests and then that smile coming through at slightly off moments.

Change the music and narration a bit and you have the perfect story about a serial killer seducing older women, getting obsessed then killing them in an episode of insanity, taking a picture of their corps with his camera as memento (which is somehow connected to his first victim) and then burrying them on the playground that has been there forever.

I have attempted three times to finish The Beauty Inside. I think I'm stalled around episode 11.
I know where you are coming from. It's a good drama, in some parts even great, like the body change scenario or the female leads occasional badassery. But for some reason it can drag on at times. The ending is nothing spectecular so I wouldn't necessarily recommend a forth attempt.
Jasmine Jan 29, 2021
I quite enjoyed the second lead couple in "The Beauty Inside".
While I lost most interest in the main couple half way through (they suffered under the "I am Korean super-rich CEO so I must act like an emotionless robot"-syndrome male lead) the second leads developed from very nicely both as their own characters as well as as couple.

I didn't even finish the first episode due to cringe moments, bad acting and overall bad (or rather badly aged)…
"worth it" as in either the points becoming better or me getting used to them and me being entertained (or even moved) by the show.
But anyways, thanks for the answer: I put Secret Garden back on my "Plan to watch" list and will give it another try once I finished the current show.
