I loved how Yu Ri, even though she clearly fancies Sa Eon, was genuinely happy for Hui Ju getting the job
She’s aware that BSE is married, so even if she likes him beyond just being his fan she doesn’t harbour any thoughts that she herself could have a romantic relationship with him.
I saw someone post somewhere "the plot twist! the paper he made her signed is actually the marriage certificate…
I have watched all of the aired episodes and read the novel and I still can’t tell what that person’s comment is trying to say. There’s no plot twist related to that document.
kdramas should go back to having 16-20 episodes because it sucks that there are so many good kdramas this year…
They already added a second couple storyline and several other side characters to pad the original story so it could fill 12 episodes. I’d be very frustrated if they did more of that (spent a lot more time on the second couple or new side characters that didn’t exist in the original story) or added other draggy filler content to expand the run time. I’m glad they decided to go with 12 episodes and have mostly focused on the main couple so far.
Major novel spoilers ahead. It might be different in the drama, but in the novel, the kidnapper's motives are…
You’re welcome! I will always include a text warning before novel spoilers so those who don’t want to see spoilers from the novel can avoid reading them. 👍
Screenshotting the spoiler so you can read it after the drama finishes airing is an elite approach - you avoid the spoiler now when you don’t want to see it but still get to benefit from it later when you’re ready to see it. I love it. ^^
The question I have, is why does the kidnappers want to kill the FL? It would seem to me that should be trying…
Major novel spoilers ahead.
It might be different in the drama, but in the novel, the kidnapper's motives are not entirely aligned with the motives of the kidnapper's "master". When it comes to the kidnapper, he is the real BSE and he wants to reclaim the name, position and life that was his birthright from the male lead, who was forced to take over the real BSE's identity. But when he reclaims that life / birthright, he doesn't want HHJ to be his wife. She previously told the kidnapper that she was just a burden to the male lead.
In chapter 34 of the novel (which the drama has already passed without covering this conversation between the kidnapper and HHJ), the kidnapper tells HHJ that if she can't get BSE to divorce her, she should just die because she is "the most in the way".
Note that the kidnapper is portrayed as not being entirely in his right mind. So his thought processes and decisions aren't always logical.

Chapter 34:
— Can you believe that the Blue House spokesperson secretly spreads illegal rumors and manipulates the entire nation like kneading dough?
“...!”
Hee-joo was utterly stunned, standing frozen.
— A scandal is one thing, but if this comes out, his upright journalist image will be completely destroyed.
“...”
— I’ve brought you a recording you can use, so let me tell you this as well.
“How... do you know all this?”
She didn’t expect an answer, but she had to ask anyway.
A cold snort came from the other end of the phone.
— What don’t I know about Baek Sa-eon? His grandfather cherished those three characters like a treasure.
A burst of chuckling followed.
— So, I leave it in your hands. The real orders I must hear, the ones I’m dying to hear.
The kidnapper’s voice was almost sing-song.
— If it all goes wrong, just die. Everyone should die.
“...!”
Hee-joo etched those cruel words deeply into her heart.
The other party always dragged things out, rarely revealing their true intentions, so every time such words suddenly appeared, her nerves would tighten.
— So hurry up and get divorced, sis.
“...”
— If it all goes wrong, you’ll be the first to die. Because you’re the most in the way.
“...!”
— I’m not joking.
Ding-dong. The doorbell rang.
Hee-joo’s head turned slowly, creaking like an old iron door.
“...No way?” she asked in a trembling voice.
The eerie laughter from the other end of the phone sent chills down her spine.
Dragging her feet, Hee-joo walked to the living room and checked the intercom. Her face was tense, but there was no one visible in the camera.
— Go back to how it was before.
“...”
— Go back to how it was before.
The call ended just like that.
Hee-joo pressed her hand against her chest and stood there blankly for a while.

Chapter 36:
—If anything happens, the first to die will be you, sister. Because you're the one in the way.
"…!"
—I’m not joking.
Her eyes were darkened with terror. The kidnapper’s words echoed in her mind the moment she fell from the cliff. She flailed her arms, but nothing could be grasped. Everything happened too fast.

Chapter 53:
"My lost name, position, and honor... Even though it’s late, I will take them all back."
The kidnapper's voice became slightly unsteady.
"Baek Sa-eon, that name was originally mine! Damn it, that was my name!"
"......!"
It felt like a sharp stab inside her chest, the pain unbearable. Hee-joo could only shake her head helplessly, facing the truth that shattered the only name she had liked.
The kidnapper laughed again and asked:
"Sister, you don't really want to live with me, do you?"
Her thoughts slowed down, her eyelids trembled, and her ears buzzed. But finally, a boiling groan escaped her lips.
"If I become Baek Sa-eon again, technically, you would be my wife."
"...!"
"Could you live like that?"
It was terrifying. Hee-joo's pupils trembled violently, as if someone had grabbed her neck from behind.
"So, damn it, hurry up and end it. Hm? Quickly, quickly, damn it."
"..."
"When I become Baek Sa-eon again, I won't take you with me. Didn't you say you were just a burden?"
Though his voice was low, it was full of excitement.
"If you can't bring me a confession, this time it won't be your father who dies; it'll be your husband... the guy who stole my life will die."
"...!"
"I never joke around; that's why you fell off that mountain."
While I wait for this to complete... does the ML know it's the FL on the phone and not 406? I've been watching…
Initially the ML does not know that the person on the phone is the FL, but he does find out later on in an episode that has aired already. But even after finding out that the person on the phone is the FL, he pretends not to know and goes along with the FL's act.
We know it from episode 3 when young HHJ wakes up in the hospital after the car crash and her mother forces her to pretend to be mute.
HHJ's half brother (also Hong In Ah's half brother) was killed in the car crash that rendered HIA deaf. The same car crash that HHJ's mother forces her to pretend caused her mutism. Her half brother's death was part of the reason her mother was so adamant that HHJ had to pretend to be mute. Her mother thought Chairman Hong would be furious that his biological son died and his biological daughter was rendered mute, but his step daughter came away from the crash totally fine.
Very minor novel spoilers ahead.
In the novel, it's stated that HHJ's mother stopped celebrating HHJ's birthday after they joined the Hong household because HHJ's mother didn't want to draw attention to the fact that HHJ was someone else's child. But they did celebrate HIA's birthday and they held a first-year celebration for HHJ's brother. This suggests that Chairman Hong married HHJ's mother (his mistress, a lounge singer) because she was pregnant with his child. Meaning that the baby would be HHJ's half-brother through her mother and HIA's half-brother through HIA's father.
It's a problem if people are posting novel spoilers without hiding them under spoiler covers and including text…
I agree with that. There have been quite a few changes already in the first half of the drama. So those who hate spoilers can rest assured that there are some plot points that the novel readers can't spoil in advance.
Better to have the number of episodes match the story than for the writers to be forced to artificially stretch…
Oh yes, that's the trouble isn't it? With a good drama we want more episodes to enjoy, but no annoying filler, and also we want to know how it all goes, but we don't want it to be over. 😔
why only 12 episodes though . even those eww dramas get 16 episodes
Better to have the number of episodes match the story than for the writers to be forced to artificially stretch the story out across four extra episodes with lots of unnecessary content added in to fill the extra time. Especially if the filler would involve redundant loops, unnecessary misunderstandings, or subplots that focus on uninteresting side characters.
It's a problem if people are posting novel spoilers without hiding them under spoiler covers and including text…
Although I can empathize with your curiosity and I don't mean for this to be harsh... if you can't stop yourself from opening hidden spoilers and find yourself ignoring text warnings, I don't think it's the responsibility of the comment posters to take additional steps to protect you from yourself by moving their conversation to the discussion threads.
It's unfortunate that your viewing experience was negatively impacted, but the answer to prevent a similar problem from occurring in the future isn't for others to take even more steps to try to protect you from yourself. The answer is for you to learn from the experience and to not open hidden spoilers or to ignore text warnings in the future.
That said, if you were spoiled by any comments that were not hidden or that didn't have appropriate warnings, that is on the user that posted the spoiler and I do think that they should do better.
It's a problem if people are posting novel spoilers without hiding them under spoiler covers and including text…
I agree. People should be mindful of others and it isn't fun to see spoilers if you don't want to see them.
That's why MDL created the spoiler tag - so that users could be mindful of others and hide spoilers so that other users who don't want to see spoilers won't have to see them. And, IMO, out of consideration for viewers who specifically don't want to see novel spoilers, novel spoilers should not be shared in this comment section unless they are accompanied by an additional text warning that the hidden spoiler is a novel spoiler.
Posting spoilers without hiding them is definitely a problem. But posting spoilers and hiding them properly, with appropriate warnings, is not a problem. That's an expected part of the comment section experience, to the point where this site has built a special feature to accommodate it.

Sorry to hear that Kalisia. But it sounds like that's not so much an issue with novel readers posting novel spoilers without hiding and warning about them properly, and more an issue with drama viewers posting drama spoilers without hiding them?
I think sometimes people get caught up in their excitement and forget to use the spoiler cover, and they just need a friendly reminder. I've asked a few people in this comment section to hide spoilers in the past and so far they've all been nice about updating their comments to hide them and hiding their subsequent comments with spoilers.
