yes, i would like to see yebei's stuff via short flashbacks instead of what we got, editors did a bad job there. if they only wanted it could still be a better show with a more coherent story even with all the cuts.

but i do think that they cut the yebei stuff to the bare minimum in the second part, they could not get rid of everything because we still got Yebei people at key positions in the show (like princess being next to the empreror when they travelled back) and that black guy being with YWY at the very end

if it just finished filming i need to lower my expectations. i hoped they finished filming last year

the fact that Yezi had to rely on A'Rui to survive in Yebei tells already how much he did for her as her father. He is a high rank official, why did not he try to make her life any better?
