It seems my heart, which had been rotting away from watching so many not-so-great BL series for a long time, started to skip a beat when this series began.
I wasn't a big fan of the original Love Sick series, but I know it was a major milestone in Thai BL series history. It's a bit risky to remake a series that's already in the Hall of Fame. The quality of this production company's previous work, My Universe, wasn't that great, so I was more worried than hopeful about this 2024 version.
I started watching the first episode without much expectation but ended up enjoying it very much. Even though there are a lot of characters, the plot is easy to follow and serves as a good introduction to each character. The newcomers give strong performances. I'm already looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Out of all the actors, my favorite in the original series in terms of looks was August as Pete, and I think I'm going to like Nong Phop as also Pete the most in the remake.
It's getting better and better as it goes on. Although there is nothing particularly new here, it is a well-crafted portrayal of the friendships that many of us may have experienced during our high school years, and the attractive actors give good performances in their roles. With the appearance of new characters in the next episode, the story is expected to become even more interesting. I wasn't really intrigued by this series before it started, but now it has become the one that I'm most looking forward to seeing the next episodes of, along with 4Minutes.
Soooooo, as a total whore for Meen, I sacrificed my sanity & better judgement & re-watched this train wreck of…
After watching LBC Season 1, I was not interested in TinCan's story and had heard that Pete would not appear, so I did not watch Season 2. I saw the recently released "Thame-Po" trailer and noticed Est's appeal, and was just about to check out his scene in this series. I am very grateful for your kind guide, which covers exactly the scenes I needed without wasting time. The MeenEst couple is incredibly gorgeous and their story is so emotional that I couldn't stop watching once I started. It's a shame that their pairing didn't continue and that the further TulHin story was never told, but it was a great pleasure to at least see this. Thank you so much!
After finishing Jazz for Two, which I really enjoyed, I fondly remembered To My Star where Kim Jin Kwon and Ko Jae Hyun appeared, and binge-watched this again for the first time in three years. In the past three years, a number of good Korean BLs have been produced, including Light on Me, Semantic Error, and The Eighth Sense, most of which I have enjoyed watching, and when I rewatched To My Star this time based on that experience, I felt I was more strongly impressed than the last time.
The characterization of the two main leads is well defined, and they seem to have unique qualities that make them stand out from the many other characters in many other series. It convinces me that it is perfectly natural for these two to cause what happened in Season 2. I liked Season 2 very much from the beginning, so much so that I appreciated it more than this Season 1, but now I have a greater gratitude for this work because I realized the obvious fact that the production of that sequel was only possible because the characters of both of them were properly portrayed in this Season 1.
While I too wish it were longer, I also feel that the core of this drama's story was well delivered at this short length. Even the feelings on Kang Dong Ho's side, which were expressed with a "?" in one of the pictures in the opening credits, were implied in a refined way by his line (and also by Kim Seong Hyuk's on point acting) asking about the true meaning of Hyun's diary in episode 3. True, Strongberry never disappoints.
Another favorite of mine in the My Universe series, after Pisces of Me. Perhaps it is the scriptwriter, P'Deam's narrative style, which is common to both works, that suits my taste. His intention to depict the fluctuating emotions in relationships, which are characteristic of adolescence and which even they are not fully aware of or unable to control, was well conveyed in both works. I will keep an eye on the next works in which he participates as a scriptwriter.
For me, this is the best of the My Universe series so far. I'm not saying it's perfect, of course, but having seen the series up to this point, and given the generally low quality of the storytelling in the previous works, I had little expectation that such a sensitive and truthful story would be told here.
The goldfish metaphor was well-placed, and I liked the fact that, in contrast to Pond's sexual assault and Kun's impulsive kissing, the degree of sexual tension between the twins themselves was not explicitly described and left to the viewer's interpretation. I was also impressed by the way they carefully portrayed the various forms of affection (including parent-child relationships) that are unique to boyhood and that they are shy about expressing in words, unwilling to admit, and sometimes confused about.
I don't care that the rating is quite low. After all, the value of a work to a certain person can only be determined by that person.
I love the series as much as I knew I would. First of all, Ray and Sand are the only couple I want to end up together.…
Regarding the last point, the details of the nature of Boston's "friendship" with Mew are not clear, but it is already depicted in the trailer that, at least in the area of sexual experience, Boston looks down on Mew. And it is also obvious that Boston is absolutely fascinated by Top's sex appeal. It must be humiliating for Boston to realize that Top is now not only not interested in him but is much more interested in Mew, who is clearly inferior (in Boston's opinion) to him. The damage to his self-esteem and his sexual desires might take precedence over friendship.
Finally! We get to experience the hype and I must say, the acting here is just stunning! I'm emotionally drawn…
Maybe it's because I'm not in the habit of reading the comments sections of various media, but this is the first time I have encountered "MAME" used as a verb. And the word seems so appropriate that there is no other way to describe the particular situation.
The only beauty of this drama, in my opinion, is the creation of the character Chalam, the ultimately cute omelet-addicted goofball. I would love to see "Lam Doesn't Eat Meat", in which Chalam is slated to play the lead role, as soon as possible, and I sincerely hope that the project will not be halted by the abject failure of "Dinosaur Love".
It is, i rememeber when the first trailer came out Chalam and Kram have a story together. In the trailer they…
Paired with Chalam in the pilot trailer of Buddy Line Y Animal was Maewnam, played by Title Teshin, but I could not tell from the voice alone if it was Title Teshin who approached Chalam at the end of ep8. Since the actor playing Chalam was changed, it is likely that the actor playing Maewnam has also been changed, but in any case, it seems that it was Maewnam, not Kram, who approached Chalam. https://youtu.be/kCPlsNBT5EQ?t=157
The scene where the bodyguard gazes at that picture of the two of them as children... His feelings for the idiot son have been hinted at throughout the four episodes, and they seem to have finally culminated here. I am very excited to see how their story will unfold, as well as that of the main characters.
Thai BL in 2023 seemed generally slow, but the arrival of Only Friends will finally bring it back to life. Neo's armpit hair alone, shown during the opening credits, is enough to guarantee its induction into the Hall of Fame of Masterpieces.
I have a feeling at some point Thee out of love will turn against his boss Thatthep to protect Thaenthai upon…
I feel exactly the same way. And my interest is in whether their relationship will remain on a platonic level. As someone who also likes sloppy sexual dramas, I have high hopes that the two of them will indulge in decadent sex in their escape, but that probably won't happen...
> cause it's a Thai drama
Never met a more compelling reason. No room for refutation.
P.S. But I do love Thai dramas.
