The screenwriter changed the plot actually. In the source material which is a novel, the boy cheats on her with his study partner. She did that stuff as a sort of revenge. In the novel she actually loved him but he was just there for her sympathy and money.
The kid is hard carrying this show with his tiny hands. Without him I'm pretty sure this drama would be boring af. I skip 90% of the scenes of secondary leads.

First she filed a case for ML against FL without asking him, then like the idiot she is, made the FL angry without even understanding why she made her angry, then she asks the ML to marry the FL. ZRJ is a good guy, but stupid(like most SML's). This guy expects the girl to automatically like him if he sticks close to her? It's like he took out a page from the book "101 ways to get friendzoned". I know ZRJ is only there as a placeholder as SML to get the average drama structure. Still, it kind of irritates me. You should've told her you like her from the beginning, and then decide if you wanted to continue sticking to her as a friend or not.
Shit drama, early episodes were good then the writer started throwing random plots for the show to progress. There was 0 reason for the ML to die at the end. The cops were there bro, you could just hand him over to the police.
The SML is a creep, why do you still bother the girl when she clearly said that she wasn't interested in you? and why do you always interfere in her matters? When the ML and FL broke up this guy went and punched the ML. What right do you have to do that! It's between them, and you are just a nobody who has no relations with the ml or fl. After the break up this guy goes and ask the FL out immediately. Dude learn some common sense. Later he also started bothering the FL's little sister when she went on dates.
The guy is a walking red flag. I skipped most of the scenes where he was on screen. Just couldn't stand him.
The ml's ex's husband apparently tried to rape her to get her to marry him, in defence she shot him, the ML took the blame. This show portray the ex's husband as a saint trying to win the heart of his lover. WTF! The ML has no reaction to his girlfriends rapist when they see each other. They act as everything is fine and dandy when they interact with each other.
The ml's mother is apparently held hostage by a man named Zha(later revealed he killed her). Guess what the ML calls him? He calls him uncle Zha in respect.
To talk about the ending. I kind of knew even from earlier episodes that it would probably end up in an open ending, but I think the ending is not open but a closed one.
The ML and FL have clearly feelings for each other even after 4 years. It was shown by ML who was not able to get into a relationship during these 4 years, even more by the FL who named her cafe after the plant ML gave to her, and her main theme for the cafe is drawings of memories with the ML. She didn't get into another relationship as well. If you check out the body language and expression of the actors when they are near each other, you will know that they clearly like each other.
But.. but... but.. She said that her past with the ML was nothing special...
FL was never straight with her words.. I could ask a monkey and FL for directions and I would believe the monkey over the FL.
The only open part about the ending is, whether the FL and ML got into a relationship or not. If these people who clearly are into each other not getting into a relationship, they definitely aren't going into relationships with other people.

Why would you call her a slut tho? She did not reciprocate the love ML had for her at the time, in the book. She banged KP out of her own choice, she neither cheated on SML(who cheated on her first) nor ML when she banged KP. Yes it was a revenge act, but does that make her a slut?

The book characters (especially the FL) have more depth because their decisions are not stupid unlike the series characters.
