now that the drama ended, is it worth watching it?
yeah, just because of the chemistry. finding these kind of couples is really hard.

First, he's ML, so everything is allowed. Second, I think they were talking about exams - nobody'd allow you to…

I have a question. In episode 35, A-Jin says that according to the law, someone with a physical disability can't hold an official position. And I just remembered that it was actually like that back then. So does that mean Prince Ding got his position through connections/backdoor deals? 😭

Bruuuh what are these comments about Lu Xixiao dating another girl. So what? He clearly didn't even DATE date…
in my opinion, that scene didn't need to be there at all. it was totally unnecessary.

I get why it might look that way at first glance β€” Jia Rui has been in several of Guo Jingming's projects, and it's easy to assume favoritism or even 'nepo baby' treatment. But here's why that take is actually off the mark:

1. Jia Rui earned his first role on his own.
He wasn't handpicked by Guo Jingming from the start. He auditioned for My Journey to You like everyone else, and got the role based on his performance β€” not connections. In fact, he wasn't even signed to Guo's company during the first few weeks of filming. He showed up by public bus with the extras. That's not exactly 'privileged treatment.'

2. He's not being coddled β€” quite the opposite.
Guo Jingming is famously strict on set. He's yelled at big stars in front of the whole crew, and he doesn't go easy on anyone β€” including Jia Rui. If anything, surviving Guo's demanding directing style proves Jia Rui has real professionalism and stamina, not that he's being handed things for free.

3. The 'nepo baby' label doesn't fit his background.
Jia Rui comes from a normal family. He studied theater at Donghua University and graduated with a BA in acting. There's no powerful industry family behind him. His rise happened because audiences genuinely liked his performance β€” especially his supporting role in My Journey to You, which actually outshone some of the leads. That's audience-driven success, not backroom deals.

4. He's now independent.
Since September 2023, he's had his own personal studio. He still collaborates with Guo's agency professionally, but he's not 'owned' or 'favored' in a special way. If Guo were really rigging things for him, why wouldn't he give him better PR protection? When Jia Rui was harassed by sasaeng fans at the airport, the company didn't even send a bodyguard or PR team β€” he had to handle it himself. That doesn't sound like 'cheating' or favoritism to me.

5. Results speak for themselves.
From his first drama in 2023 to winning the iQIYI Rising Actor Award in 2024, Jia Rui's progress is measurable and public. You don't get that just because a director likes you β€” you get it because viewers and critics see your talent.

So no, this isn't a case of 'cheating' or nepotism. It's a case of a hardworking actor who happened to catch the attention of a demanding director β€” and proved he could handle the heat. If Guo Jingming really wanted to rig the system, he'd pick someone who doesn't need to take the bus to set, don't you think?
