yeah and oh it's not only China that has banned things/elements in tv/film industry countries such as Russia, Thailand, some west Asian countries, the west have been known to ban things as well
read some comments about banning dramas. can anyone explain why certain dramas are banned from airing?
direct time travel is banned because 1) there was a case a few years ago, where two teenage girls in China committed sui*cide thinking they could time travel 2) potential for changing history/historical nihilism/etc but there are ways around it and hmm seems like the modern day person travel to the past is not well liked however the last few years time travel is seemed to be allowed in some areas again (love in time, lost track of time was surprisingly allowed, and the subtle time travel element in the xianxia till the end of the moon was allowed) but other areas aren't with elements: such as travel into novel isn't allowed as much anymore (scent of time, romance of a twin flower)
bl (and also gl, but we hardly have gls anyways btw) are banned because a combo of homophobia from nrta and also fanbases can get very toxic and out of control esp. w/ bl fandoms
