From what I gathered just from the last chapter he was poisoned but he didn't die due to getting healed (idk how since I didn't look at the chapters prior to it) though the side effect is that his eye color would slowly turn red

Btw Ji yang came back because Nan Yan used the 3 hearts/cores to bring him back
it was said in a voice over (easily missed I guess XD as many in prev comments werent able to catch it)
Nan Yan's to recreate/bring back ji yang's original body/form
Ji yang's own to cleanse any remaining demonic/devil energy
Nan yan's mom's to make it that he wouldnt die
