Maybe ZXW did not force his way into her in the "past" life... Just like he is waiting for her in the "dream" now... Sometimes the love will find you when you least expect it...

That is why his love is sad... I just hope that our protagonists love their partner for who they are (the good and the bad, and everything in between). No one is perfect, but we strive to be our best selves.

From another perspective, I feel his husband's pain. He noticed HQ changed in how she defines "love".

He does not realize that once a person that HQ can't live without is trying to give all up. He probably knew all her scheme to marry him, and noticed that the ML is interested in HQ. How did he end up on the losing end? How did he lose his girl?

He is throwing a tantrum and he will not accept it, and maybe deep down he cares for her as he also noticed her changes.

My take is from her way of handling things in her "dream state". HQ behaves differently than her old self, starting with when she fell in the water scene, then standing up for HRZ on the street, to her husband's birthday party, and being completely honest with ML.

I think if I were the ML, I would fall for her. I might be late, but I don't want to live with regrets as well.

I hope we have a happy ending.
