I came across a new synopsis that's an improvement over the one on MDL.
“ It's hard to look away from the secretive and interconnected events that unfold. Gangnam B-Side is a crime thriller set against the backdrop of the glamorous Gangnam nightlife, where a series of mysterious disappearances occur. When Jae-hui (Kim Hyungseo) - a well-known hostess at a popular Gangnam nightclub who holds the key to the secrets of these disappearances - goes missing, various characters with different motives and goals become involved in the pursuit of the truth. These include Detective Kang Dong-u (Jo Woojin), who has just returned from demotion, Prosecutor Min Seo-jin (Ha Younkyoung), who sees the case as a stepping stone for her career, and Gangnam outlaw Yoon Gil-ho (Ji Changwook), who voluntarily places himself under suspicion. Gangnam B-Side skillfully unravels the complex web of these characters' intertwined interests through a gripping narrative and intense, immersive scenarios. The standout performances of the cast bring out the unique personalities of each character, making this a highly polished chase crime drama that transforms the familiar into something refreshingly new” (SONG Kyung-won)
Ji Sung is the best Male actor in Korea.. in terms of acting alone. JCW is good but topping the list is crazy,…
You can’t go around talking about an actor like you’ve watched most of his/her movies or dramas. No wonder Wook being in first place doesn’t make sense to you—it’s obvious you’ve only seen like three of his works and 2 being not his best ones. Try watching these gems where Wook actually shows his talent:
1. Empress Ki 2. If You Wish Upon Me 3. The Sound of Magic 4. Lovestruck in the City 5. Queen Woo 6. The Worst of Evil ( 1/6 you have already seen this ( good start ) 👍🏼👍🏼
I mean I find it quite ironic, because the list specifies that it is not in terms of popularity. Yet, Ji Chang…
from your comment it sounds like you think wook isn’t a good actor and is just riding on popularity....talk about missing the mark! 😭
anyway I get where you’re coming from but Wook isn’t at number one just cuz he’s popular tho. There are bigger names out there nowadays, like Kim Soo Hyun and Lee Min Ho etc but you don’t see them taking the top spot. Ji Chang Wook’s there cuz of his talent—have you seen his works? In the K-drama world i'm pretty sure he’s known as one of the best actors when it comes to actual skill not just hype. So yeah, the guy just happens to be popular tbh
Simply my opinion but netflix is picky and they make or have have contracts with big korean producing companies…
I totally get the confusion—it can be tricky to figure out how all these streaming rights work. anyway for shows like Love Next Door which is a Studio Dragon production for tvN Netflix acts more like Viki in this case. They don't always produce the dramas but instead secure the streaming rights, often with exclusivity for certain regions. So, Netflix might have the rights to stream it in specific countries, but it’s not always worldwide.
When it comes to something like Good Partner Netflix streamed it in South Korea but Viki got the international rights. It all boils down to the contracts—different platforms bid for rights in various regions, and sometimes Viki ends up with the global rights while Netflix has them in specific countries.
Netflix can lose streaming rights when licensing deals expire or when production companies decide to sell those rights to another platform like Viki. For example, with Lovely Runner Viki might have negotiated a better deal for international streaming after Netflix’s contract ended. It's all about which platform strikes the better deal for each show and in which territories.
( Please keep in mind that I'm not an expert on this—I'm just sharing my thoughts, and there's a good chance I could be wrong )
