a stalker's guide for a dude who's an actual stalker & abuser...interesting.
you say that you won't comment about what you think of him and yet you say he's "a great man" two sentences later....also interesting
why do you "really hate" her though? people rarely write off dramas when they have crappy male actors, but with actresses it's like everyone's suddenly an expert on acting and is extra harsh on them for no reason...
Loved this until last few episodes where they kind of messed up everything by bringing up all possible Kdrama…
@Viande agreed. The way homosexuality (as well as bi-erasure) was handled was completely off-putting. It was an ongoing gag that was meant to emphasize the ridiculousness of Kang Chul and his 'foolishness' as a character. His acceptance in and of itself was the punchline. Even that so-called acceptance he briefly experienced was eventually dismissed and replaced with anger about how, "his life was almost ruined" and he was promptly given praise by other characters for finally ~manning up~ (much like Reply 1994, another drama that queer-baited with the same gross ass homophobic and sexist ending).
Genuine question - why do you always leave gross misogynistic comments on MDL? We don't need this kind of self-loathing diatribe on here. Deal with your issues elsewhere.
Her husband was such trash, I swear I had to skip his scenes because my blood was boiling. The writers tried to get us to hate Sara-san more, but tbh he was the biggest scumbag of the show. She realllly shouldn't have looked for any validation from him at any point, his whole existence is pure trash. Kept wishing she'd stop giving a damn about his loser ass
is this worth watching guys? I'm not really sure if giving it a try or not.
It's a mature drama with mature themes that don't revolve primarily around romance, that's the reason why so many are turned off by the plot developments. They wanted the focus to be on the love triangle w/o substance like a typical Kdrama and they didn't get that. Doesn't mean the drama's bad though. I'm personally very happy to see issues of marriage/divorce/in-laws and life in general be explored in a Kdrama in a way that's not meant to be pure fluff and actually has strong messages.
Ok I take everything I said in my previous comment back ... yeah the writers have srsly lost it ... never in my…
"Illogical, annoying, and stupid"? Please...the writer did an excellent job with her character and the drama in general...if anything, it's the male characters who behaved selfishly the most often. What she's gone through is completely understandable and realistic. She has a life that doesn't revolve around men, and it's messy and complex. Any person would struggle in her position in the face of having everything fall apart in a way that's so hard to repair.
Oh noes I had seen this to ep 10 and seems everyone is now saying the writing has gone totally downhill. Such…
The drama doesn't go downhill, it just takes on a different tone in the second half of the show. It's deliberate and imo well-executed. But if a person's just watching the drama for the romance then they'll probably be disappointed tbh
lol the second half of the drama is definitely not light. And Il Ri is probably one of the most likeable characters in this story imo, I don't know why people are hating on her
I'm hoping this drama will make a turn for the better cause Kamiki is the only good in this drama..
Your original point was that, "everybody is the same ordinary human being just like you and me" aka the "we all bleed red" color blind approach. Cultures matter. There's a lot more to a culture than whatever their choice of cutlery is (which btw, does bear significance), and those hundreds of thousands of traits that exist are not minor details. It's an erasure of a group's historical and cultural fingerprint when everything is looked at through the we-all-bleed-red lens. Don't mistake racist stereotypes from outsiders of said culture as if it's the same as actual societal characteristics. Those characteristics do not originate from a social studies textbook - there's plenty of people who will attest to their culture's own unique way of organizing itself.
I don't know what culture you come from, but those of us who aren't Western know that our value systems and philosophies are an intrinsic part of our culture that we want to preserve and celebrate. I have my own habits and personality, but my mentality and lifestyle have definitely been shaped by being exposed to certain ideas and habits regularly throughout my entire life. It's not possible to remain uninfluenced by our immediate surroundings, just like we're all affected by how our parents/guardians raised us and the behavior that was exhibited by them during our formative years.
