the plot is just not good. and it doesnt help that the main actor is problematic af. oh well, had high expectations for this drama bc i like lqy & msc but this fell short.
the ML's acting is very lacklustre compared to the rest of the cast. surprising that no one is talking about it here because many of the top comments on douban are about his poor acting. it does not help that the producers like showing closeups of his face when his expressions are not good.

dont know what youre so defensive over but the story behind each character has nothing to do with how well they can act. wjy is good at carrying out the emotions but her delivery is bad. regardless of whether the role is suitable for her or not
comments saying wjy's acting got worse but she was literally nodding to her lines in yanxi palace as if she was regurgitating sentences she memorised. she is more suited for playing yingluo but at least her acting isnt too forced anymore (not that i think its good).
xukai seems to have gotten worse too, or maybe its because he doesnt suit this character. he was way way way better in arsenal military academy
idk why i expected this to be the regular stereotypical boss-employee type of drama where the ML is cold and emotion-less while the FL is dumb and arrogant. This drama is nowhere like that. the FL and ML are both very sweet and likeable.
