I liked her in Death Note and Liar Game. SPEC 2 seems interesting, but lately there are too many crime stories. I've just started watching Strawberry Night and the first few episodes were disappointing. The ratings are all high and the reviews indicates good plot and interesting crime scenes, but I'm not fond of it (yet).

Have you seen Toda Erika's new drama Shotenin Michiru no Mi no ue Hanashi? The first episode is already subbed, and it seems pretty interesting. I also think Toda did a good job, showing a very different character from usual. The first episode was nothing special, but I love that neither the story, nor the main character is cliche. I don't even remember when was the last time I've seen a jdrama without a cute and innocent main female character. (There was Saki a few days ago, but she was so fake, with that gentle smile of hers, I just couldn't take it. :D). Anyways, the episodes are only 30 minutes long, so if you'd like to see Toda's acting capability, this is the perfect show in my opinion.

I've just finished Saki's first episode. The acting was alright, but nothing really happened. The background music made Saki look like a psycho killer, but all she really did was eating weird stuff. I think I'll give this show a second chance, but the pace should be much faster from now on.

Guilty Akuma to Keiyakushita Onna had a similar plot if I remember correctly. And Ueto's acting was indeed amazing in the first episode. I've only seen her once in a tiresome drama where she was learning to be a flight attendant...I didn't like that role at all. So I always thought there's no real talent behind that pretty face of hers. This drama proves how wrong I was. I'm going to watch Saki next!

I've just finished Itsuka Hi No Ataru Basho de's first episode and I liked it! The actresses were good and the whole plot seems interesting enough for me to continue it. I hope the other new dramas are going to be just as good as this show. Next I'm going to watch Nakama Yukie's new drama Saki. It's fortunate that the english subs are early up for most of the shows I'm interested in. I'm just hoping that someone will sub Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi too. I've seen trailers of the show and am looking forward to it, as the main actors are both absolutely brilliant (Matsuda Ryuhei and Eita) and seems to have a good "chemistry".

The first episode of Love Shuffle is lacking I'll admit it, but just as I said before, you should watch the second as well. If you don't like that, then perhaps this drama isn't for you after all. :) I see you've watched Afro Tanaka. Did you like it? I'm not sure about watching it, since the whole "big haired guy wants to get a girl" just doesn't sound like something I'd like. And have you seen any of the premiere episodes of the new dramas?

I've only read around 2 volumes back then, so I really don't know. But in the drama the main characters are females, right?
I'm so curious as to what your opinion will be on love shuffle! :D Please write me when you've seen it!

Well, first of all the original couples are about to break up (or wasn't dating in the first place) and the whole drama is morally acceptable. Please just try the first two episodes, you'll see what I mean. :) There are a few popular dramas around here that haven't got good points for the eyecandy.
Ooku the manga has only 7 volumes. And the plot seems similar. I really don't understand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/?oku:_The_Inner_Chambers

The whole shuffle concept is indeed weird (let alone some of the characters), but nowadays there are far more peculiar stories out there. And the original couples are having difficulties, so no wonder they'd do such a thing. I really do recomend you that drama. It's fun and just because the plot seems weird, you should trust the thousands of people who found this good. :) (But talking about popularity it's something untrustworthy nowadays.....Kdramas....)

It was, but I recall the main guy character as a womanizer and with a fun personality. The drama was somehow too dark and serious compared to what I remembered about the manga. Anyways, what's your opinion about Tokyo Dogs? As I mentioned in my previous post, I found it surprisingly boring. :D

I've almost forgotten about Ooku. Wasn't that a manga adaption? I 've read it a long time ago and then I watched the first episode. But the two didn't seem to have any connections at all. But I'm not really sure about it since I saw the manga a few years ago.

I have seen Ayase first in JIN and I loved her there (the whole crew was amazing in my opinion), but it is true she alwas plays the noble but frail girl. I haven't seen her in many dramas, but I still believe that with the right director and character she can do right. I'm actually quite curious about her new taiga drama. I hope to see a tough tomboy there. As for Tokyo Dogs, I just couldn't understand how the drama got so flat. I might watch too much western crime stories to be easily amused, but I just couldn't get myself to watch the final episodes for weeks as I didn't care for the ending. And I didn't even understand how I got so bored as both Oguri and Yoshitaka starred in it. I'm sorry, I'm rambling again^^
As for Yoshitaka, I'd like to recommend you Love Shuffle. I'm pretty sure you won't like her character there, but I think that drama shows her talent (and others' too).

Hello! I've clicked on your profile after reading some of your posts in the prime-time-drama-preview-winter-2013 topic. I'm quite amazed by the number of dramas you've watched! Also I like the list you've made about Japanese actresses. Most of it I can relate to, but I just can't get what you like about Tabe Mikako. A find her dull. But please recommend me some of her work! I've seen her in Kimi ni todoke and Liar Game: Reborn and since LG producers have a good eye for actors, I'm sure they must've seen something in her I haven't. :D Also I'd love to hear your opinion about Yoshitaka Yuriko; my all time favourite actress (she is in Ashita no kita yoshio, Love shuffle, Bokura ga ita) Also I think you'd have a little bit better opinion about Ayase Haruka if you watched JIN. Well that is if you don't mind blood and weird operations. :D
Wait, are they really coming to Hungary, my country? That would be awesome!

Thanks for the information! I'll watch it for sure!
Also I do recommend Startling By Each Step, because the story is beautiful and the actors are great. :) And it is a historical drama.
I see you're watching Sprout. How do you like this drama so far? I'm very impressed with the young actors and the plot, so it's a pity that no subs are available for ep 9 and up yet.

Welcome to MDL! Could you tell me what is the name of the drama you recommended (with the beautiful lady)? I'd love to watch a good chinese/taiwanese drama. (I was a huge fan of Startling By Each Step, but couldn't find a decent cdrama since then.) Anyway, if you like funny love stories, you might find Otomen to your liking.
A few months ago I showed Liar Game to my best friend and she liked it! It was nice to watch 2 seasons of awesomeness with her! But I know she wouldn't like romantic dramas, so I think the next one will be Kurosagi.

My choices for the Japanese beauties would be:
5. Toda Erika
4. Ueno Juri
3. Nakama Yukie
2. Ueto Aya
1. Ayase Haruka
