the plot is not something new but in this drama they have a reason for why the villain are villain and not just villain for the sake of the dramas... like the empress she turn into a villain because while the king is sick she took care of him and the kingdom to the point she turning blind from doing all the memorial but the king didnt appreciate and want her to die with him because she might be too much influential? and prince qing want to overthrow the throne is because the king have no regard for his mother... same thing with the dou uncle.. he just side with whatever side is more powerful to protect the dou name.. they all have their reason

different dynasty have different morals and teaching that they live by... so depending on the era you cant just kill off royal family members without definitive proofs

i mean we all knew it was him.........the mastermind is the empress which we knew but we didnt knew why until the last episode.... all the villain have a reason to be a villain
