it kinda has the same ending because in the webtoon hamin visited somang in her dreams and also talked to her,, just a bonus part is the "what if" scenario wherein hamin is saved / is alive and they grew up together and ending it with them visiting jaemin on his high school graduation.

as someone who read the webtoon, i think it is good although i feel that they rushed the ending.. they didn’t even include the most important part that hamin wrote in his diary about somang.. and that scandal about somang and jaemin was so randoooom, they have so much stuff to unveil but they decide to put that.. it’s just sad cause as i saw the comments under they cannot appreciate the storyline and maybe that is because of the poor execution the drama did :(( but overall it’s a nice watch.

Oh andddd lastlyyy did they purposely make a scene where gaeul called somang to hint for s2 lol? cuz gaeul is the bestfriend of somang in the webtoon and at first it’s weird that she has another bestfriend beside her in here, but then i thought they may not want to include gaeul cause she also has another story sooo they come up with another bestfriend..
