It just shows you didn't watch the series completely.I used to shame this kind of comment, seemingly baseless…
This is my final say. You're now putting words on people that are actually practicing Buddhism. Second, Tharn and Type are a fucked up character that needs saving (and not a personality trait) and their toxicity should not be justified through cultural differences. Third, I am keeping an open mind especially now that it will have Season 2. Fourth, thank you on providing your thoughts on seeing through unspoken dialogues that can be justified as their redemption arc but my point remains: it's not a good representation of homosexual relationship in any way, despite cultural differences. Agreeing to disagree. Have a good day.

First of all, I was having a hard time completing the series and believe me, I did. I could even tell you who was the main antagonist of the series, which was Tharn's snake best friend.
Second, is it that hard for y'all to accept why people like me find this series problematic because it really did not provide any resolution to controversial topics especially with him overcoming his homophobia and confronting his abuser which was literally where the plot revolves around. Dating and basically consenting to homosexual intercourse to "just get over it" with Tharn does not equate to overcoming his homophobia. "...without even understanding the actions and the justifications as well as the circumstances the lead the characters to act the certain ways." That's the point! I'm not shitting on this series just because I feel like it. There was no resolution to all circumstances in their lives, with both of them (with the inclusion of Tar) being sexually abused by older men in the past! It's so frustrating that as a viewer, we're seeing the effects of their trauma and they just come into terms with it. With Tharn's gaslighting, nonconsensual sexual advances in the early eps (which he didn't apologized for), emotional manipulation, the total ignorance towards Type's mental illness, when we see him everytime he concedes with Tharn's manipulative ways. And that sends a dangerous message to victims of sexual abuse out there.
One issue I have with this is its confusing time progression and weird time jumps without proper explanation. Some episodes tend to skip days or weeks during an episode and we can't even tell. The messy storyline is depicted on the fact that a rape victim like Type goes through sexual assault, then agreed to have a one night stand with his abuser (Tharn), then cut to the scene where both of them agreed to have sex AGAIN, then he fell in love with him? That is not an excuse or a "dark undertone" and just can't let this slide. It could've been a great avenue to tackle and address the issues but I can't understand why the show refuse to address any of these behaviors.
"How can people enjoy something I don't like and find problematic?!?!" Dude, people enjoy gruesome horror movies…
Do you honestly think that the acts of sexual assault, gaslighting, borderline incest relationship and like what I've said, unresolved homophobia (which was literally where the plot revolves) that were portrayed in this BL are just because they're "imperfect"? Another point, to say that life doesn't make sense sometimes hence inconsistent plots (not just in this BL) can't be critiqued anymore is just lazy. I'm neither not looking for a perfect BL, nor critiquing every detail of every BL I've watched, but to say no drama will live up to my standards is plain reductive, considering I have watched handful of BLs that have the great acting, chemistry, music and an actual plot that is far problematic and widely praised.
But then again, you do you. I do mine. I'm stating an opinion about its questionable relatively high rating despite its major flaws (for me). Agreeing to disagree.
How people putting this problematic series at such high pedestal is beyond me. If you can get past Type's unresolved homophobia and Tharn's toxicity in ALL aspects, mixed with a confusing plot, underwhelming side characters, borderline incestuous relationship between "side couple", then I don't know what's wrong with y'all. The redeeming factor of Tharntype was the great acting and chemistry between the leads. That's it. But hey at least there's a lot of steamy scenes to compensate for this messy story!
People: I hate this it's so boring, there's no chemistry, i have to drop at *insert early episodes* blah blah blah Same people: *skips the fuck out of every episode*

Hence, the question lies on whether it was all an act or not. As I've said in my comment above it would've been better if it was a mini-series to see if all decisions made were intentional. Also, can you tag your comment as spoiler lol

As you've said, everything seems too sudden, and I agree. But I wouldn't say it didn't live up to the potential, since everything but the rushed plot was spot on.
The movie was amazing. One of the best I've seen in Korean BL genre. The acting was superb. I liked how the tension between the main characters rises as the story progresses. The ending will make you think about where, when and did the fiction became reality between the two MCs. The only critique was the plot felt rushed. If the film could've been longer, then it could have provided more time for Singer's character development. Actually, it would've been better if it was a mini-series rather than a movie so that we can fully assess to ourselves whether it was a forbidden love story or they were just method acting.
The level of extra, and chaos in this series is so funny!! The why r u ost reference was just hilarious AHAAHAAHHA too bad we have to wait for ep 3 next week :(((
Lol i think everyone was annoyed with them. I personally lost interest in them after their dumb fight. They should…
For me, their sweetness to each other and their chemistry and how both of them are trying to make an effort to each other overshadows their annoying personality and because of it, their relationship feels realistic for me <3
I %100 agree with you. Like, honey he is your boyfriend for gods sake, its normal for him to want some affection.…
I feel like they will eventually get there. It just needs a perfect moment at the perfect time. And what I love about them two, is how they were still able to swoon each other with words and can still show genuine reactions to it, at least for me. I also loved how in this episode, Duen was able to call out Bohn and his obnoxious jealousy and maybe in the next episodes, we'll see a more affectionate Duen :) And that's what makes this series special.
This drama was going so well until that nonsensical boxing match scene between Bohn and Ram. I couldn't help but…
I feel like that boxing scene, with the addition of the smoke effect, is a jab to overdramatized "beating up the main character to prove my love" trope of BL. That's why I was just laughing at its nonsense because I think it was intentional.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one annoyed by Bohn and Duen in this episode. Despite that, they really know how to swoon each other with words and I like that about them two. Although as well, I get how they have their own share of flaws and it's okay as long as they would be called out for it (like what happened in this episode). Overall, Ram and King definitely took the cake for this episode. Ram haven't said anything but King was able to know that he was feeling down is just <3 <3
