It gives out a similar vibe to me; while I was watching Speed and Love, it constantly reminded me of Our Generation.
Similarity:
- ML was smart: he was in the math olympiad and was the school champion but then dropped out from school because of challenges in life.
- The ML & FL both knew each other from childhood.
- The sunshine & midnight rain vibe

Difference:
- The genres: Our Gen is more about youth, but Speed and Love is far from being a youth drama.
- SAL got more spicy tension than OG.
- OG focused a lot on friendship when SAL is purely romance.

Since the two leads are reunited, the drama also includes several subtle nods to Princess Agents. Without giving away spoilers, viewers who have seen Princess Agents will recognise these moments in The Legend of Shen Li:
- the underwater scene
- Xing’er’s favourite dish
- the lantern
- the ending

1. Both are serious school-based/education-based dramas where a strict teacher pushes students to face uncomfortable truths.
2. Both are mystery dramas with antihero main leads.
3. Both involve psychological pressure and mind games.

Both dramas are masterpieces of strategy that feature a brilliant, intellectual protagonist who relies on his mind rather than martial arts to defeat powerful enemies. Just like Mei Changsu, the lead in Legend of the Magnate (Gu Pingyuan) suffers a grave injustice, endures exile, and returns with a new identity to clear his name and dismantle a corrupt hierarchy. While one focuses on imperial politics and the other on high-stakes business warfare, they share the same DNA: a complex conspiracy, a calm and calculating male lead, and the satisfaction of watching an underdog outsmart the establishment.

Esther Yu plays the female lead in both and Mike Angelo goes from being her male lead to a side character in Speed and Love. Loving his role so far in Speed and Love though.

It's similar in a sense that both the main characters leave their workplaces to be able to give them a space to heal. Though not as melodramatic as Summer Strike, Doctor Slump also has a similar overall message.

Both are the peak of political scheming and 3D chess in cdramas. Both highlight a fight against corruption. Nirvana in Fire is more revenge with slight wuxia elements set in a fictional world while Ming Dyansty in 1566 follows a real corrupt emperor and his court during the start of the decline of the Ming Dynasty. Both MCs contain massive amounts of aura and you can't help but root for and admire them. Ensemble cast is full of veteran actors that give standout performances.
