True to its genre.
It has a right amount of creepy, revenge, eerie, and suspense. However, this was quite hard to understand as the way the timeline was set all wrong. The audience was never told how much time had passed and sometimes I wondered to myself if the scene was a flashback, a nightmare or reality. I came for Son Ye-jin, and I can assure you that I only stayed because of her. I think the script was written well, but the execution in terms of editing and prioritizing scenes was messed-up. The characters were hard to tell apart at first, but I eventually got used to it. The plot was VERY unpredictable; the build-up dragged a lot but the ending was semi worth it. The build-up also did not do some of the characters justice in terms of the screen time each of them deserved. Overall, do not reccomend. Was this review helpful to you?
The script is needlessly convoluted (but kinda neat sometimes to be honest) and also hella bleak, which makes for a weird experience.
But it managed to win me over with an engaging performance by the lead played by Son Ye-jin, and interesting editing.
I'm kind of expecting more with Korean thrillers to be honest. The directing was… uneven.
More focus on the characters and why I should care, please.

Very Interesting Premise, but Convoluted Execution
Well acted thriller/crime drama, but the twists were a bit too much. So the husband, ML, who is a political front runner for town mayor, has an affair with his daughter’s teacher, which leads to her getting pregnant. The daughter and her best friend learns of the affair and attempts to blackmail the teacher for money. She tells the father who then hires a hitman to kill the blackmailer. The only thing is, his mistress, the teacher, fails to tell him who the blackmailer is. The daughter is murdered, and from there the story takes a lot of weird turns. The premise was actually really interesting. But the fleshing out of what exactly happened and who was responsible got really messy and thus at times was difficult to follow. Perhaps this would’ve been better as a series. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. Your preferred genre of entertainment will determine if you’ll enjoy this. It is a very dark movie though, that doesn’t have any moments of light.

Beware of the Truth
If you liked Oldboy, you will also love this movie. It’s not an action film, but it has the same level of disturbing psychological drama that makes it suspenseful and engaging. My warning is that this movie is not for the faint-hearted.Also, this movie is weird. It has some unusual directorial choices, but as the story progressed I started to appreciate them because they make the film unique: the subtle scene transitions, the timeline shifting back and forth, actors holding straight faces without responding naturally to situations, slight image freezes on important details, and the light outfits of the main character — the mother, Yeon-hong, who behaves like a frantic woman in search of answers. All in all, this is a unique movie that thriller fans will find worth watching. A lot of effort went into making the mystery as deep and complicated as possible, and it was done in an original and satisfying way. It certainly isn’t easy to know or handle the truth.
The whole movie was captivating, but the final scene gave me goosebumps — something I haven’t experienced in a long time.
