I have been embaressed and hurt along with Duk Seon, Jung Hwan, Dong Ryonh and all the others. I have laughed and felt anxious, well, felt every kind of emotion that is available really.
I never would have thought that Reply 1988 would triumph over 1994 or even 1997 but yes, yes it did. By far.
This is the first drama I had to rewatch while it was still ongoing just to sooth my abstinence.
And I also got to experience what its like to suffer from secondlead syndrom for the very first time, and to the extrem at that. I cried along with the confession and capitulation. I felt like the conduit for the feelings he wouldn't and couldn't show to protect both his pride and friendship.
It has been a journey, a journey I will gladly take again and again (when I have gathered my strength).

to the prospective audience you are asked to provide the tissue as the final ep is a very sad ep
in this drama you can also see about one's adolescence, about the neighborhood. This story also focuses more on the family than in reply 1994

A rare instance where the MDL rating of 9 is absolutely justified for the series.
Why I liked it:- Main Love Story: As you may know, the FL had 2 suitors. There seem to have been fan wars about who she should have ended with. There were subtle clues sprinkled throughout the series, which were confusing to me personally. I thought some clues pointed to the main ML and some to the second ML. Both were quite outstanding suitors because I felt both were complimentary personalities to an extent to the FL. The FL was a generally sweet and happy-go-lucky girl, with no major outstanding qualities/ambition. One ML was really mature but child-like innocent at the same time and brought out the FL's protective & nurturing instincts. The other ML was quite caring and while he bickered with her, the FL brought out his protective & nurturing instincts. So in case of one ML, the FL would have been the primary nurturer, with the other one she would have been nurtured. Both work in real life actually. My take away was: who we end up with is driven by Destiny most of all. People are not fixtures, there are spectrums to behaviour. The same person can be dominating one in a relationship with one partner, and be dominated in a relationship with another partner. The opposite partner's behaviours brings out different personality traits in folks. So, I was fine whoever she ended up with, they both suited her. Kudos to the makers/actors for bringing to life such fine 2 suitors.
- Secondary Love Story: Ah, the FL's elder sister and friend's love story (Sung-Sung couple as I term them). You know there are commitment-phobic guys in real life They are often depicted in dramas too. There is another category of guys who exist but are not as frequently depicted I feel. The commitment-philic guys, who thrive on stepping up and taking responsibilities. Sung Sun Woo was that guy. Stepped up to the role of man-support for his mother and lil sister once his father passed away. Happily so. It's no wonder he fell for an older girl. His maturity level was higher than even his FL though she was older and mature herself. Even in his relationship, he is the one who pushed for permanence, happy to marry early. Though his FL was really aggressive, he tamed her so well. I freakin adore such guys. I love their love.
- Really slow burn romance, both of them. Done just the way I like them.
- Kisses: Swoon worthy and totally real. Especially so from the secondary couple. I truly think the secondary couple are a couple in real life.
Weird points:
- The FL had an adam's apple to rival the ML's. This is the first time I have seen an actress with such a pronounced adam's apple. Distracted me in a few scenes
- Whoever did FL's make-up needs to be fired. I could see her foundation / pimples in so many scenes
- The wigs of the 3 ahjummas were also terrible cause it was so obvious they were wigs

Memorable and profound
What a journey this drama has been. At first, I was quite skeptical because the episode length was of a movie one. But as I started watching it, I was so attached to the characters and their stories. Everything was flowing so natural. I thought it was too soon revealed who Deok Seon's husband was, I wished for it to happen later, to keep longer the suspense. I was a bit disappointed with the ending, too less minutes of 2015, wanted to see what happened to Jeong Hwan.Great acting but the parents impressed me the most, especially Seong Dong Il. He could make you laugh but also sad.
I found the music very appropriate.
I would rewatch it but when I have no more dramas on my planned list!

BEST KDRAMA YOU'LL EVER WATCH!!!
Just wow. Just when I thought I already have watched the best dramas, I have tried watching REPLY 1988 because of recommendations and curiosity and guess what?! It became my top pick and the best KDrama I have ever watched so far. Period. No one could ever replace this drama in my heart. Very realistic approach in family, friends, and life in general. It will make you very nostalgic and make you miss and treasure your younger days with your loved ones. Will make you realize the essential things that REALLY matters the most. The makers are very expert in this slice-of-life genre because it came out really good. They focus on trivial stuffs and that's what makes it the best. In most of the KDramas you have watched, most likely you just have 1 to 3 characters you will look forward to. But in REPLY 1988, you will LOVE ALL of the characters! The actors are great and the writers as well as if you feel like the characters are real. To the point that you couldn't even move on after watching it and follow the actors' new projects. The love triangle thing is something you will look forward to but is not the typical love triangle where the male lead who are friends will be destroyed and have feud because of their affection for the girl. Their LT mainly focuses on the essence of friendship and the sacrifices you could make for your friends. That's it. Watch this if you want to realize REAL lessons in life and if you want good laughs and good cries as well. Watch it with you family! This is something all generations would love and relate to. It was slow-paced at first and you might find it boring but trust me, it was a ONE OF A KIND drama and surely YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. I'm not lying. This is something that you MUST WATCH before you die. Bye!Was this review helpful to you?

One word to describe this drama: HEARTWARMING. This is the only drama in which I describe as such. Very nostalgic, entertaining and with subtle hints of life lessons. It stirs up a lot of emotions within ourselves. It makes us yearn for what we had while hoping we should've treasured every thing better. Our family. Friends. Memories. And even, the younger version of ourselves.
10/10 in everything. Casting, acting, story, production. EVERYTHING. They paid a lot of attention to every single details of this drama. Hands down to every one.

Happiness, sadness, right and wrong decisions, family, friends, love, aspirations, difficulties
If you havent watched it, you are missing a lot.
I actually wanted to live in that same neighbourhood.
I wanted to be their friends. If you have that kind of friends, Please do not let go of them and know each others value. It is very hard to make friends and very easy to lose them.

I was choosing between "Reply 1988" and "Reply 1997", and I end up seeing this.
It’s such a good drama, and a must watch.
Reply 1988 made me feel how good the past was, they appreciated the most simple and unique things, like family and friendship. I was so jealous seeing that neighborhood, they shared everything and they had such a good friendship...and I live alone xD
So the drama is really good, one of my favourites. The story and the cast is amazing. And the music, that old music with those old beats are so beautiful and good to hear.
Even though I had the wrong shipp and in the end, it made me sad, I really don't care, I still love the drama.
I had such a good time watching this. <3

JUST GIVE THIS A TRY!! MUST WATCH FOR WARMTH
This drama is the best👏😋. I am writing a review months later although this is the longest drama I have watched with 1 hour and above. This drama forced me to write it as the storyline was fab👌👌👌. I was thinking of rating it 9 or even 9.5 if possible but I have 10 because each episode made me laugh till my stomach would hurt. some of the scenes also made me cry and excited..everyone is on about how they wanted jeoung hwan and Deok down together(even I wanted it to happen). I was preparing for that hate-to-love story from the few episodes.so I took a small peek at the spoiler and was so disappointed that they weren't together, so I told myself to get prepared for it..so I was ready to accept Deok Soen and Teakie's relationship. Also, I thought Park Bo Gum's character was a little dull although his character was a famous Buduk player. For the fans of Park No Gum should watch this drama. I love this drama a lot.I think this is also the longest review I have written.😂😅😳Was this review helpful to you?
What I like most about this was that it really evoked youthful memories. I also like the community vibe, the love, support and laughter. It was truly warm.
What is disliked it that it was not so eventful and they really dragged the secret relationship out to the last moment.

Wow...
I've watched this drama so many times. It portrays friendship and family dynamics in the most heartwarming way possible. I don't think I will ever watch another k-drama better than this. The plot was fantastic and covered so much, more than I could ask for.I LOVE the cast and their chemistry. I really don't have any complaints about this show, other than the fact that I just want more and more.
The OSTs are extremely iconic and catchy, and "Hyehwadong" (sung by Park Bo-ram) really just epitomises nostalgia and childhood. So many variety shows have used that track to encapsulate nostalgia and it really just makes me feel very warm. I miss my childhood. Outstanding show and an outstanding performance by the cast. Best k-drama ever in my opinion.
In summary:
What i liked - everything
What i disliked - i want more
Star of the show: Hyeri, Lee Dong-hwi, Ra Mi-ran, Kim Sung-kyun
Rating: 11/10
Watch if you want to cry
