Asa ga Kita

あさが来た ‧ Drama ‧ 2015 - 2016
Both are biographical asadoras about pioneering women in their fields. Asa is based on a leading Osaka businesswoman, while Tora-chan is based on one of Japan's first female lawyers and the first female judge. Both are also the closest asadora has gotten to a political, feminist stance. However, this doesn't hinder the viewing and only makes the stories more realistic.

These are both asadoras based on actual women. I read the biography about Muraoka Hanako, which served as the source material for "Hanako to Anne." Hanako actually met Hirooka Asako (renamed Shirooka Asa for "Asa ga Kita") and she served as an inspiration for her. For this reason, I think these asadoras compliment each other nicely and they are both 10/10 for me as well.

Both dramas have:
1. Female leads who are kind, smart and fighting for women's rights in their era.
2. A lot of funny, light and heart touching moments.
3. Very good soundtracks.
4. Loving and supporting male leads as the female leads' husbands.

While Yae no Sakura is a taiga and Asa ga Kita is an asadora (different feel), both are great biopics of strong, unique women who had an pioneering impact on the rapidly changing society (i.e. Bakumatsu ~ Meiji).

Same period. Second couple was giving similer women power vibe. Asa ga kita is more like a documentary, nami uraraka ni is a love story. Actually both of them are made-up, unrealistic stories form japanese culture. But I liked both. I recommend it if you want to find some hdrama that is really worth to watch from start to end. Especially Asa ga Kita made me realize a lot of things in my life.

Both Main Characters are pioneers, e.g. in the banking industry, and support the education of women. Both dramas are depicting the life story of a real person.
