The character of yoo jung makes me fall in love in a hundred ways. It could have been better if the writer focused on the love team of hong seol and yoon jung. I felt that there were some episodes where thay took yoo jung for granted. I felt disappointed to the ending. It left a lot of unanswered questions.. Hoping that it will have a part 2..

Light hearted and Slice of Life

This drama is light-hearted and has a good romance score. I enjoyed the chemistry the actors shared. The story was engaging more or less. The female leads did an excellent job as I could actually feel their agony and emotions. At some levels, this drama tends to be relatable in a few lines.

Let's talk about where it fell short.
Although in some places I felt that the story was predictable as all kdramas pulling out their usual cards, what intrigued me the most was the psychology of the male lead. I felt he could do better acting cause at some points I expected more emotion as in some places he was fake trying to keep it within. His complex character is what kept this drama's storyline different from the rest. But he served the best visuals and did look good when he was angry xD.
Aside from that the ost was good. In some places the cut scenes were random, there few flaws here and there but this drama is old so that's acceptable.

All in all, it's a good drama if you're looking for a good cozy romance to divert your mind to, but at the same time it makes you think about how people behave and have different battles in their lives that result in their actions, especially the complex character of the male lead separates this drama from the rest.

I dropped this drama just before episode ten. I'd heard about all of the controversy and how they went totally off script in the second half, so I did a bad thing I always tell myself not to do and then do anyway, and I went and looked up some spoilers. Mainly for the last episode.

And I was just not down for that ending.

I'm giving this a ten, because what I watched was phenomenal, and if there hadn't ended up being such a big controversy, I probably would have finished this drama. Heck, part of me still really wants to go back and finish it, but the other part knows I'll get to the end and just be filled with rage by the ending.

If you know about the controversy and the ending and still want to give this drama a shot, please do. Because it really has a lot to commend itself.

Just prepare yourself for this train to fly fully off the rails and down a canyon halfway through.

I really loved this drama. The story was good, the acting was good, there were moments where I cried, laughed and got so angry at it. I'm trying not to spoil anything in this drama, but of course, there is a love triangle, and I was rooting for the second love interest. I root for the underdog when the main love interest, in my opinion, is not good for the main actor- completely my opinion.

The reason that this drama does not get a 10 from me is the ending. The ending just frustrates me because of how the events playout for the main couple, mainly for the girl. I'm okay with not having a happy ending, that's life, but the ending just upsets me, to a point where I want another season to continue and see what will happen next. This is just one of those dramas where, in that one scene, you wonder what she will do?

But overall, I recommend it because it has a good story, great actors, and it will surprise you and anger you at times.

I had gone into this drama expecting a load of crap tbh, all of the reviews I had heard said this was the worst drama they've seen or that it had really shit characters or that they didn't like the love triangle or that it had no story.

While I slightly agree with some of them such as the no story, I felt as if the characters were well developed and realistic in many ways, I felt as if this made up for the lack of plot as it was more of a "let's explore these people" sort of drama, and I liked that, I honestly didn't know I needed to watch one of those, it's nice being set apart from a really dramatic and harsh storyline.
I've not read most of the webtoon due to the bad translations it had but I know it's still an on going one so I won't judge the writers for such a shitty ending lmao.
I personally wasn't satisfied with the conclusion that they both made in the end, In Ho was such a well built and reliable character it was a shame she gave that up for a man who showed so many red flags lmao, maybe I'm just being biased because In Ho was basically my dream guy though lmao. But yeah, I thought it was cheap to just have them both say 'I understand you' after 3 years, it took away from the realistic feeling I had with this drama which was sad lmao.

The acting was really good though, I love allllll the actors so much and I teared up quite a few times because either I'm just really tired or they're able to convey the emotions so well.

So yeah to anyone who stuck around till the end, I reccomend for a light watch, but not too light, make sure you don't get attached to characters easily and also don'tind shitty endings lmao. But there's nice fluff lmao.

Thinking back, I don't even know why I chose to start watching Cheese in the Trap: Everything about it seemed so simple and kind of naive, but in the end this series managed to touch me on a very deep emotional level. And oh boy was I wrong about the story being simple.

At first it was details and mysteries around Yoo Jung that caught my interest, but eventually I found myself getting more and more hooked on supporting main roles whose personalities had so much to offer. I was basically having very busy time falling in love with every single main role: They all had their own cute features and flaws and yet surprisingly addictive mysteries and secrets.

In all, the acting was superb (I'm having a serious arising Seo Kang Joon problem) soundtrack was beautiful, clothing was on point (Kim Go Eun could wear a garbage bag and look fashionable), humor was on point and was on a good balance with drama and the story line had way more to give than I expected!

reasons why you should watch this drama???

1. even though second lead is soft and sweet, you might think he is the real hero and you will start with shipping Second ML but no one loved seol like jeong did. jeong (ML) was loving but different from others.
2. everyone acts so well, after 2 episodes you will feel like connecting to this drama. It is relatable to our daily life, this drama is based on different psychology of different people.
3. everyone is so beautiful
4. FL's character shows growth in the end of the drama.
5. people might think its not a happy ending drama, but as she says in the end of the last ep that for the person like sunbae she has to wait more, she has to understand him more and it feels like they had a happy ending in the story.
6. if you watch this with open heart, you will love it.

This was a very engaging story. Everything that happened added onto your perspective of each character. At first each character is a mystery but as you move on you discover things in their past in flashbacks or their actions that either make you like them more or question your pervious outlook on them. This drama was a good mix of happy, sad and exciting moments. Sometimes I would cry and other times I would be sitting up bouncing up and down with excitement during a scene.
NOT A SPOILER!
The only thing that really bothered me is the outcome of the romantic storyline for Hong Seol. It just let me down because I waited for a decision/outcome to happen. You will have to watch to see what I mean and this might not bother everyone. It's just that I watched 16 episodes just to be unsatisfied with the end? Anyway on another note it was very dramatic. It had me at the edge of my seat unable to blink because I didn't want to miss anything. Watching this is your decision but be warned the ending is in my opinion not very good. It just felt unfinished, but their is not doubt that all the actors were the perfect choices.

Thanks for reading my review, if you have gotten this far! :)

Not your typical romance K-drama

Cheese in the Trap appears to be a light-hearted, simplistic college-life romantic drama at the first glance. The true essence (and vision) of this series explores the complexity of human relationships and how each person's inner motivations and past life experiences influence their emotions, state of mind and finally, actions and choices in life. This exploration is done through the lens of the protagonists.

The male lead was written as someone who has sociopathic tendencies. Sure, but honestly, I don't think it's fair to say that he's the sole individual who is "problematic". Each character has his or her idiosyncrasies and personality flaws, which drive them to make ambiguous life decisions. What I found weak in the drama. perhaps, is that instead of SHOWING us the growth or inner conflict of each character after a traumatic experience, oftentimes, they were TOLD to us by the characters verbalising those experiences. This left me somewhat unconvinced of the message the drama was aiming to convey.

In my view, I thought the one with the true psychological issue might just be Baek In Ha. I mean, seriously, who acts like that on a day-to-day basis? Her persona seems to fit the criteria of someone diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (I've worked in psychiatry before), and even in the flashbacks of their childhood, the kid actress also portrayed that eccentricity. I don't know how Yoo Jung was able to tolerate her for so long. She needed the most professional help in my opinion. She was actually also my most disliked character in the series.

Cute stuff in the drama included the supporting characters' love arc, and the friendship of the Hong Seol and Baek In Ho. After this drama, I am a new fan of Seo Kang Joon! Park Hae Jin was also great in his portrayal of Yoo Jung; there was a lot of subtle emotions that he was able to convey very well.

I think it is good to go into the drama knowing that it is more than meets the eye. Good for those who want a drama that requires some reading between the lines. So, if you're looking for your typical feel-good K-drama, this is not it.

the fact that it made me furious is a sign of how well-made it was

I wanted to write this review because so many people adore this drama but it has a pretty bad rating.

Ok so I've never seen a pack of annoying characters huddled in one story like this in one go and that's really saying something. The character arcs were very realistic and well portrayed as in I've met people like this before. Which was why it was infuriating to see the male lead get ultimately chosen. All those annoying characters at uni and In ha, they're shown as people trying their best to get better, which I loved seeing. But I couldn't help but group them together with the male lead. Let's face it, realisitcally speaking, these are the type of guys that end up hurting girls the most, even the girls they love and care about. The fact that he was offered redemption again and again was not great to watch. I get it, he's actually a good guy, but to what extent? The fact that this drama made me feel all these emotions and think all these thoughts is the reason I gave it such a high rating. Because Kdramas with a good prodction value usually always connnect with the audience we take it for granted. This drama really did do a very good job of keeping me engaged even though I was extremely annoyed with the plot points. Kudos to them for a good production and most of the actors for a great performance, honestly.

Now If I actually get into what else there is to bite into besides the great production value - eh not much. It's a romance genre so there some sweet moments between but nothing that particularly illicited a response from me ( in comparison to other dramas in the genre which realltymake me FEEL you know). I'm not one to go on about the second lead usually but I have to say, the second lead and the female really did give me more feels than her with the ML. As much we love second leads, we have to admit the director always makes sure to make the ML shine more. But somehow that's not the vibe I got from this as an audience. I don't if it's because the ML's character but the SL and the FL gave a lot more romance and feels. So that was a bit awkward. But like I said, becausethe production was so good, the romance is notable and worth watching if not a little mediocre.

Obviously it's not a comedy, but the uni friendship dynamics did have some light, fun elements to it. As always, Kim Go Eun's great acting and expression kept me amused enough that I didn't feel like it was missing comedy. As a uni student, I quite enjoyed the uni life portrayal. I wouldn't watch it again though and unless someone asked me to reccommend them a drama which'll make them angry and annoyed, I wouldn't reccommend this to my friends either.
