Saiban's mother died heartbroken after her father's infidelity. Saiban frequently visits her mother's grave on a hill near their house. Saiban's grandparents own a vast mushroom plantation in Chiang Mai. Her father, now remarried, has a stepson, Nopepamai, who intends to marry Saiban for her inheritance. Nopepamai, a brilliant mushroom expert, becomes a professor in Chiang Mai and works at the family plantation. He falls for Saiban, but she only sees him as a mushroom doctor.
