perfect rom com

this drama was absolutely perfect. the chemistry between seo joon and jeong hwa was amazing and i was bummed to find out they didn't have any other work together. jeong hwa is one of my favourite actresses because her acting is so fresh and funny and seo joon does the rich business man character extremely well and i knew he wouldn't disappoint with this role. siwon was just as perfect in this drama, he did funny, sad, serious all so well and showed that he definitely has other talents besides singing and dancing. the side couple was also so extremely cute and they really made me love the drama even more. 10/10 would recommend.

This drama was absolutely adorable. I have to admit, after watching the first couple of episodes, I put this on hold because the story seemed kind of annoying. I wasn't super crazy about the main lead and I just wasn't in the mood at the time. But after someone begged me to finish it, I quickly fell in love with both the story and the characters. The story dragged a little too much at the end, but I enjoyed watching it none the less. Siwon did absolutely fantastic in his role, and he honestly made the whole show for me. This is really my first time ever getting second lead syndrome. I loved the main lead as well, Siwon is just more my type, and his story line was done really well. Overall, a really great drama.

Loved it, comedies are the best!!!

I'm a little late to the K-drama scene.  I liked this show a lot.  First, before I forget, Park Seo Joon, who plays the male lead, looks uncanny like my late Japanese friend, Matsumoto-san.  Not at every angle and all facial expressions, but especially when he smiles.  First Japanese person I became friends with, an unbelievably kind guy whom I miss a lot.  I first saw Park in "Itaewon Class".  Seeing him made me happy and very sad at the same time.  I think we all knew the female lead, played by Hwang Jung Eum, even with the weird hair was going to turn out to be attractive.  Besides the physical part, her character being bubbly and sweet, is something that is a very attractive quality!

Star of the show has to go to Choi Si Won's character, Kim Shin Hyuk.  Hilarious and creative role that Choi was perfect for, makes me want to go find some other things he's been in. I hope there are some Korean guys in real life who are like that character, maybe not as crazy though with the pranks though, lol.  I like to joke around too, because I enjoy making people laugh and forget their problems.  Shin Dong Mi, who plays Cha Joo Young, is also an attractive lady and stood out, maybe because she was the only lady who had her natural hair color.  I know this drama is dated, but I hope Koreans, like Japanese and all Asians, STOP dying their hair color, natural always looks best!  I realize people in Asians countries tire of black hair, as almost all people tend to have it, unless they are seniors, but if everyone dyes their hair brown then people with natural locks stick out amongst the crowd, hah hah!

Warm, funny, great!

I just loved it... I didn't have much expectations at first but the drama turned out to be very nice.
The romance is great and not so great. The childhood romance is warm and sweet. Once they get together, it's warm, sweet, funny, i smiled a lot. They understand each other, they talk and say what needs to be said (well note at first but later) it's very refreshing! The not so great is in the in between, there aren't really any sparks , not enough "impossible love moments" or not enough great "falling in love moments" but it works anyway.
The 2nd ML is great, the friendship between him and the FL is great, event if it's turns into a love triangle, they are absolutely great together.
The ending is perfect.

I'm not sure how I ended up watching this show, but I think I remember being like sure why not.

I didn't think too much about it at the start, but as I continued watching it I thought it was soo cute, the story and everything and I really like the actor Hwang Jun-eum this was the first drama I watched her in, and just loved how her character embraced her naturality in the end and liked the actor Park Seo-Joon from Secretary Kim, he always plays the CEO of something, but yet I still enjoyed the storyline and plot.

I think my favourite character was Kim Shin-Hyuk who was played by Choi Si-won, I think his character was soo funny! And really interesting what he ended up being. Would totally watch it again!

Would recommend to any new drama watchers

I was enjoying this one until we got past the main leads getting together. As expected, I got bored and had to fast forward my way to the end. It did wrap up nicely and cute though! We even got a child!

Taking it back to the beginning:

Hye-jin’s reason for lying about her identity is really shallow and she should have been honest. Sung-Joon had already experienced what it’s like to not have ‘the standard’ looks of a Korean man so he of all people should have understood how Hye-jin was feeling. Besides, a ’true’ friend would love and accept them no matter what.

I didn’t really like Sung-Joon in the beginning because of how rudely he treated Hye-jin. If a man is gonna be a good man, they should treat all women the same. I didn’t like they way he fired Hye-jin in haste - he was so aggressive!

Another thing that bugged me was why did Sung-Joon think that Hye-jin was going to be romantically available anyway? That is so presumptuous of him to think that after 15 YEARS he can waltz back into her life and expect something between them that is more than friendship.

I was honestly shipping Hye-jin with the second male lead and to be fair, they would have had a decent shot at being together so really I feel like this drama could have gone either way.

Hye-jin’s transformation really had her looking like a whole another actress!

I don’t understand how Sung-joon could be so upset with Ha-ri but fine with Hye-jin - ike Hye-jin was the root cause of the predicament anyway! I thought he would have been equally mad at the both of them, even more so Hye-jin.

Finally, as we recached the end of episode 14, I literally sighed relief that the second male lead shaved his beard. Damn that should have been done AGES ago!

Overall, this was a decent drama with an okay story. Certainly nothing to rave about. For anyone who is new to kdramas this is one I’d recommend.

-E

Not terrible

==Breakdown==
Background plot - 45%
Romance - 35%
Misc comedy - 20%

Background plot - Low stakes but also quite boring mostly
Romantic chemistry - Good
Misc comedy - Good
Production value - Good

I wish I liked Hwang Jung Eum's attempts at comedy more than I do. Her over the top acting choices during comedy scenes can be irritating and make me want to skip forward. That said, when she's more subtle in the heavier emotional scenes she does an absolutely stellar job. Since the show revolves around her character, it was a series of hits and misses with the show never quite finding a steady rhythm.

Park Seo Joon took a character that was pretty boring and made him someone to root for, which is a special kind of magic. I wish Park Seo Joon would go back to his rom-com roots. After seeing him in 'Kill Me, Heal Me,' 'What's Wrong with Secretary Kim,' and 'She Was Pretty,' I think his strength is rom com.

This was a character driven story, but even so the plot felt a bit empty and shallow.

Kind of feelgood, not too serious

This was OK entertainment - I watched quite a lot of the episodes rather rapidly, but then I had a longer break before I watched the remaining episodes in "pulses". The story is kind of feelgood romance, not too serious and without any heavy conflicts or strong story arcs.

The acting was OK; I would say Park Seo Joon (ML) has developed as an actor since this.
Choi Si Won (2nd ML) did impress me, even though I found his character to be a bit "over the top" for me.
The FL Hwang Jung Eum had some weaker scenes, but was overall good.

What I did like with the story was how wholeheartedly he (Ji Sung Jun) loved.

for me i should give it low rate for 2 reasons
1st i hate (hwang) sooooooooooo much i feel her pretending to be superfine &
she is acting absurdly in general the way she talks make me nerve
but i've to admit that she is so good at choosing her dramas

........................................................
2nd SPOILER IS COMING

cause she left (choi) for (park)
it wasn't a big deal if the writer made her continue with choi i do really loved every thing about him in this drama more than (park) LOL
..........................................................

but i should say it's a very good drama you should really watch
without joking this is complete 10/10 excluding both 2 reasons :)

Short: This one is light and fluffy, some decent humour and an overall nice message for people. It's not really about being pretty at all, this one is about self confidence. Fantastic chemistry between the leads, and other awesome characters too! Light bouncy music just completes the "fun" feeling of this one.

Detailed:
Last time I saw a drama with Hwang Jung Eum was Kill Me, Heal Me - and honestly I wasn't the greatest fan of the over the top shrieking so I went into this one looking to see more from this actor and how she is in other roles. Have to say, thoroughly enjoyed her work in this one, rather than the shrieks in the car of the other drama, this one has much more comically timed reactions and she plays the comedic role well. The counter play between her and Choi Shi Won's character is brilliantly written and brilliantly portrayed and they provide a really nice mischievous comedy element. The comedy tends towards the usual type i've seen in K-drama, a bit over the top, but there were numerous laugh-out-loud moments and most of them were this pair.

The premise of the drama is that as a young girl she was beautiful and was best friends with the boy who lived next door, an overweight lad with some issues, they bond supporting each other and have a great friendship until his family moves away. Many years later, there is the opportunity to re-unite, but as she no longer feels she is the same pretty person she was, she asks her best friend to stand in for her. It's just a recipe for things to go wrong really!

There's a couple in her workplace who I found really entertaining to watch, I'm a fan of Shin Hye Sun's work anyway so I always enjoy seeing her on screen but really found her character development to be fun to watch.

Overall, this one is quite light hearted, some really funny moments, but also some loud ones so if you're watching this one late at night on the main TV be prepared to be as shocked as the FL is and ready to turn the TV volume down :)

It's also one of those dramas that has the really nice long ending so you get to enjoy some of the happiness that was worked for so hard during the main part of the story. Very nicely done.

There's a really nice overall message about self confidence in this drama, the title and description presents it as being potentially superficial - but, hey, you should know better by now, that's not how these things work, there's a lot more to it :)

Great fun, been hooked watching it from start to finish!

Highly re-watchable too, there are some clever reveals and secret identities but honestly I can't see it being any less interesting even if you know the answers to those questions.

Love the actress

Things I loved:

1 The main actress. This was the first series I watched with her and I loved her acting. She was beautiful (even more when she supposedly was ugly) , cute, funny, great. her character as well. She was smart, funny, hardworking, loyal.

2 The magazine team, all of them. They had a good relationship and it felt real. Also that the story took place in a magazine. I love anything that ahs to do with publishing.

Things I liked:

1 The friendship between the main female lead and her friend. They were there for each other and they were smart, ambitious women who wanted to be happy without sacrificing their friendship.

2 The ending. Sweet and not rushed. Also that she followed her dream and that they supported each other.

3 Some funny moments before they got together and some romantic ones after they got together. I think the leads had a good chemistry.

4 The premise. Original and funny.

5 The mystery about Ten although I knew who he/she was.

6 The relationship between the SML and the heroine. That said it was also a reason to dislike this triangle.

Things I disliked:

1 The main male actor. He grew on me though and I think he's good actor, it's just that he's not handsome enough for me and I'm shallow when it comes to romantic comedies and I want gorgeous couples. I still looked for other series he played to watch.

2 The triangle between the female lead and two males. Triangles is what I dislike on every series, but here it was once again painful because the SML was a great character.

3 The male lead character at first. He was rude and cruel without reason.

Things I hated:

1 The female triangle. HATED it! They didn't ruin things and managed to salvage the story, but while watching, it bothered me a lot.

It’s okay, cute and simple

I honestly almost didn’t watch this because of the recent comments saying it’s so bad but I still gave it a chance and it’s not as awful as people are saying, like it’s a 2015 romance of course it’s going to be cringy lol. Compare it to dramas of the same year, it fits right in.
It’s okay, not super good just okay not worth the rewatch. The FL is dumb and annoying, the ML is mean and cold then he becomes sweet to her…your typical cheesy romance drama characters. The story is cute of the childhood sweethearts and how they found each other again. I honestly hated the “glow” up of the FL they made her look 20 years older, but I’m glad that didn’t completely change her and she still showed her “ugly” face (like she’s so pretty just had curly hair and skin issues but you know korean beauty standards..)
In the last episodes it’s so slow and just way dumber like they try to fill the 16 episodes quota, the FL is so much more annoying in the last few episodes. And the last episode is mostly filled with trowback scenes if you skip all of those the actual episode is like 20 minutes.
In conclusion, just give a watch it’s entertaining lol.
