Bullying + Violence + Triggers = last half of movie

Likes:
lighting even during the darker scenes was okay.
acting was decent.
fx were okay.
Music and sound effects done well.

Dislikes:
Writing:
Plot holes.
No punishment for the two guys who controlled the "finding girls". Bullying had no consequences either. No growth for the main actor and no true conclusion either. Sloppy ending, seemed very rushed compared to the slow beginning. The crying of Se Jun after what he did, seems dumb, because he had no problem doing what he did before the bathtub scene.
Production:
Shaking camera, especially with close ups, they should've used a film stabilizer.
Pacing was extra slow in the beginning, then rushed at the end of the movie.

Overall:
There was no bromance as it is tagged that. What the male leads had was barely friendship even. People read way too much into the two male leads calling it boy love. Not at all. They used each other; one for money, the other to get involved with the uncle that's never shown. Bullying, violence and triggering content that due to the rushed ending, doesn't give a satisfying resolution or conclusion. Even if you like graphic violence, this is on the low end of the decent movie spectrum. I don't recommend wasting your time watching this. No scene grabbing parts, that make you want to watch it again.

Twisted and Complicated, One-Sided Love!

This just joined GagaOOLala and while on sick leave, I thought to give it a try and what a thrill (especially for me as someone who is interested in Psychology and how minds work).

Please watch it first before reading this, then come back and see if any of the things I say make any sense. 😁

With a high school setting, it might be discouraging because how many high school dramas have we seen? but bear with it for a moment because there is a twist to this story,

We meet a young man with a complicated family history of a sick mother and a father he detests, resulting in him wanting to carry to the burden of the hospital bills. This leads to looking for work. Just his luck (bad or otherwise) that his new high school friend knows of a high paying job and can hook him up. What he is not aware of is that the friend is not only involved in nefarious stuff, but that he is also in love. I see the MDL tag calling this a bromance, there was nothing bro about this romance. Se Jun was in love, he just didn't express it verbally, but he expressed it in every other way. I believe this is because he wasn't sure if he could come out in that way to YJ. He wanted to know Yun Jae's life, needs, interests and wanted to be included in his life. Sadly, Yun Jae is straight as a ruler and interested in a girl who unfortunately only had eyes for Se Jun.

What I found intriguing was how in the end, because of his love for YJ, Se Jun handed himself over to the police for the last crime he committed but, refuses to say why. I would like to put it to you that it's because he fears outing himself. Telling the police that the girl was a proxy for YJ would sound beyond depraved and it really was.

Before the SA, SJ was involved in the underground club, but he drew a line on what he would participate in or not. He also didn't go into that motel room intending to SA the girl. You could see the moment he grew envious of her for receiving such an intimate and romantic gift from YJ and in his jealous rage, he made that awful decision.

In the end, this is a story about one-sided, unrequited love. The girl liked SJ, but SJ liked YJ and YJ liked the girl and nobody won, but everyone paid the price. Deeply unpredictable and gripping to watch. A high recommend from me.

Shock effects and toxic bonds, both felt out of place in the storyline

Well, what happened here really? I have no idea. I am seated after watching this, kind of in trance, captivated, kind of having feeling of having witnessed something bizarre. But all of that happened with last 15 minute development.

As for BL aficionados, this one was not it in any obvious sense. Se Joon definitely had a strange obsession with Yoon Jae's validation, but there was no indication that attraction stemmed from any romantic feelings. Then on Yoon Jae's side in one scene, you will know the main one, after he meets him, he seems more sad to see Se Joon in such state than any other consequence that led to it.

So in one way or another they seemed to care for each other. Unexpected plot. Kind of unnatural. I think there was more shock value because Se Joon was not developed as a character that he ended up being. Weird movie. I do not think I like it.

A lot of loose ends. Acting was great though. Overall, meh.

Not a recommend.

Thanks for reading.
