Story: The premise was interesting to see how they would explain the why the gender swap happened and then to see how the truth was handle. On both issues that was a disappointment. The secondary plot was also anti-climactic. They didn't develop the plot deep enough for certain events to make sense and then some were just dragging on. Overall the secondary plot romance was more solid and believable and felt more like that should have been the main love story and the main a gimmicky secondary.

Acting: I have to give the acting lots of points. They were committed to their characters. I bought the chemistry and camaraderie they portrayed. Overall the acting was beliveable I will say this wouldn't being a drama without so dramatic over acting and a whole lot of ugly crying but ehh. No real complaints.

Music: Unannoying, calming and pleasant. Not super catchy but hearing it will bring back good memories and matched emotions.

Rewatch: It is definite rewatch. You have to watch it at least twice to catch things you missed the first time.

Overall. Funny, light hearted and Baron has awesome hair. Really watch once just for Baron's hair...it's alway perfect even in it's imperfection. The characters were likable and not once did I wish for someone to just die so that is a good sign.

Great start but dragged end

I don't really like dramas where a woman pretends to be a man and then the man falls in love with the woman thinking she's a man. I've seen so many versions of this story but this was the first one that actually seemed to work.

The best thing about this drama was definitely the cast especially for the FL. She actually made a very handsome man, and she also made a really pretty woman. She was gorgeous at the end as a woman, I didn't like the wigs. This was the fist cross dressing drama I've seen where the woman makes a handsome man and is actually hit on, a lot, by women rather then sexually confused men.

I really liked the relationship between the ML and FL, their dynamic was great and you just know they'd make a great power couple, if only their story didn't drag so much. I hated how long the secret was kept and found it unnecessary especially when the ML was very confused about his sexuality. This is the one cross dressing drama where it actually delves into the sexuality of the leads. The FL is heterosexual as she said many times and the ML was more pansexual (the ending was confusing about this point).

After around 11 episodes I stopped caring about the main lead couple and became more interested in the second lead couple: Qing yang and Nana. I loved the second lead couple, they had such a sweet slow burn romance that had a very weird start. I didn't like Nana at first, found it weird how she was chasing Qing Yang, but then you find out that she actually wasn't lying and she wasn't actually chasing him but the memories he reminded her of. The more you see their relationship grow, the more heart warming it gets and by the end, they were the only couple and characters I cared about.

I don't understand how such a short drama could drag so much. The only thing that dragged was the main plot of the FL secret that she is a woman and not a man. I thought that they would at least, at some point make the fact that she had to be a man for such a stupid reason, an actual. That something actually does happen saving her life simply because she is a "man". But nothing happens, it was pointless and stupid and I don't understand how no one read any of her documents, her passport or even her plane ticket and found out the truth.

The chemistry in this drama is UNMATCHED!! Although i think the story has its faults and the ending was a bit rushed, this love these characters feel for each other is real. The story is long but every plot point adds to each of the characters! I come back to this drama every so often just to get a feel of their chemistry again. I haven't seen this drama in years yet I still remember the chemistry this couple had! This drama is a classic and I recommend it if you love gangster stories, gender benders, and Steamy kiss scenes!

One of the best couples + main actors I've seen

heads up: my reviews are all over the place and usually make no sense. you've been warned.

started this on a whim last week and immediately fell in love! the first few episodes were really fast paced and set up all the characters really nicely. it had such a lighthearted feel and that's exactly what i love. fan xiaojing is the ultimate shipper and i thank her so much for pushing ya nuo into zi feng at feng jie's party ahhh that was so cute!! i think i was really hooked in after ya nuo was locked up on the rooftop and zi feng basically risked his life just to be next to her. what can i say, i'm a sucker for near death experiences that bring our main leads closer together. i was so so impressed by the acting and chemistry between megan and baron and am so sad to know they're not dating irl lol. megan definitely 100% deserved best actress at the sanlih drama awards!! their development as a couple kept me on my seat anxiously waiting for them to freaking get together. i actually had audible gasps during some of their scenes because they were just so good. they're such a healthy couple that really go through thick and thin without having any problems. they're there for each other no matter what and had so many damn cute scenes (thank u writers!!).

when i first started watching, i thought ya nuo's 26th would be like the halfway point of the drama and cause some sort of misunderstanding between the main leads, yadda yadda yadda but i was so glad that wasn't the case. i do have to say that 100 days of knowing someone (and dating for even less) is kinda rushing marriage but ya nuo and zi feng are honestly meant to be together so it's okay.

like some other people touched on, there really isn't a plot going on lol, which i didn't really mind tbh. there were a lot of sideplots, but none of them really interested me besides maybe nana and her sickness + nana and her dad, i really only cared for the fluff and cuteness from our couples + jiu bi. i didn't care for the mafia thing at all, literally how could there be any other suspects asides from hansheng lol he was just a horrible antagonist and i skipped most of his scenes whoops. same goes for the missing dad + amnesia storyline. it was kinda pointless to me. tho again, the actors were so amazing for their roles, especially since baron's dad was actually a mafia gang leader????!?!?!?

du zi feng is one of the best male leads i've seen in awhile. he's not a jerk, he values friends and family, is honest with his SO, and they handled him liking a "guy" really well. he really didn't try to deny feelings for pi ya nuo even tho he thought she was a guy at the time, and just accepted his feelings. he's also so so handsome ahhhh.

even tho only four songs really played in the background, they were all bops and i have them all on spotify (except for this one upbeat bii song that i need to hunt down). speaking of bii, where was qing yang sleeping during the camping trip? he was supposed to share a tent with zi feng but he wasn't there at all? also i wasn't a big fan of the main leads knowing each other from before with the hairclip and stuff but this is SETTV so i shoulda expected it.

having more mature actors also meant amazing kissing scenes!

zhe rui's character was honestly so bland and a disappointing and he doesn't really deserve to be on the main cover photo lol someone replace him with nana. i love sean lee and jiu bi but there was no second lead syndrome at all.

overall, objectively, it really wasn't the most interesting drama and there wasn't really a plot lol, but to me, especially after watching all the behind the scenes, i'm so in love with (most of) the characters and i already miss ya nuo x zi feng.

Male Lead's Jealous Expressions Were Priceless

This is one of the few cross-dressing women-pretending-to-be-men that is believable (Coffee Prince is another one). In other productions, the fact the "boy" had noticeable breasts, was tiny, and looked like a pretty actress (complete with make-up) made belief nearly impossible.

In Bromance, FL started out as a strong man and ended as a strong woman. So often the "strong" woman becomes a weak, idiotic damsel in distress by the end of a drama, when she started out so strong initially. I appreciated FL's acting skills that allowed her to portray the strong male initially but gradually reveal her more feminine side without losing any of her bravery, aggression, or power.

I loved, loved that once the couple had affirmed their feelings for one another, they respected each other while maintaining passionate feelings. Especially in K-dramas, once the leads kiss, it's like they've been married 50 years: no spark or attraction after that at all.

Was the drama cheesy and unrealistic? Yes, a thousand times, yes! Did I care? Not a bit. When the interactions between the characters are as satisfying and wonderful as Bromance, cheese is just fine. Besides, when were RomComs ever realistic? We were treated to the kinder, gentler mafia, and that made me roll my eyes. But I still didn't care!

The drama made me happy with loving interactions, fun music ("your beauty is like a migraine"?; something is lost in translation with those lyrics), and the ML's facial expressions when he was jealous. ML made me laugh out loud at his possessiveness! An extra half star just for that.

side romance was more interesting than main one

watching this at 14 years old altered the trajectory of my life kinda? the main couple kinda bored me sometimes tho the plot of yanuo presenting as a man and zifeng having a conniption over the fact he might be gay was entertaining. was DEFINITELY more interested in what qingyang and nana had going on they were definitely the stars of the show in my opinion. banger ost as well oh my god

I really love this show because I there is literally action in every episode. I love how the character will go to great heights to keep the girls secret. which will start to unravel. There Is a lot of romance especially in here especially towards the end. When they start to realise everything. They face a lot of problems in their relationship and think that their roman ce shouldn't be like this. so, much denial. Totally dlfferent from the other Chinese boy/girl romance dramas. Trust me, you'll Understand how it's different from other boy /girl dramas. Because the main secret differentiates this drame from other. Plus this is on Netflix.

I have watched many cross dressing korean, chinese dramas. They have decent plot. But this is by far the dumbest plot I have seen. Excuse me you can't live like a girl nor let others know you're a girl because if you are a girl you will die earlier? And what the hell only when you are 25 you can live like a girl and preach to the world but before that a big fat no? Dear writers what were you thinking?

I have heard many positive reviews about this drama. I watched with much anticipation. But the story absolutely threw me off. I finished the last few episodes with 4× speed only for the sake of finishing it. The only thing I like about is the acting of the fl

Ok....this is the first taiwanese drama I ever watched, and I was completely knocked over by how good it was. The relationships!....oh the relationships!! And I am not talking about the main romance characters as romantic partners, but as friends. This managed to have bromance, without actual bromance and that was a first for me.
Even though you are rooting for the romance, I truly kind of wanted them to maintain that sense of friendship that they started out with.
Also it is really hard for a drama to keep a stalwart main character, but it was great to see a character that no matter what their feelings never wavered. This drama didn't give into the major cliche of that ....well if you watch you will know exactly what I am talking about...needless to say I had to recap forward because I was worrying hardcore.

Even though I plan to rewatch this...I cannot say this drama was perfect. I fast forwarded through quite a lot, and while I did like Bii as an actor, and I get that he was supposed to be the silent and steady type his acting was really stilted...or just too silent. I would have liked to see more life in his character.
The one thing I did like is that there wasn't a real decline in the drama. It started out with fighting and that physical aspect, and kept it going through until the end. A lot of the time the things that brought characters together, or define them in someway if not convenient to the plot disappears, but not in this drama. True it did decline a little, but it stayed true to what you were first shown.

Megan Lai and the rest of the cast really did keep me around, but the person that had me riveted was Baron :) His acting, intensity, and just the way his character is had it so that you couldn't turn away.
The only thing I hated, and it has to be adressed is.....KISSING!!! Oh god this killed me! the relationship was amazing, the characters just heaven. But when they kiss I wanted to throw something. It's like all the chemistry gets dumped, and they can't kiss to save their lives. Didn't anyone tell them that you cannot passionately close mouth kiss it looks weird!!! And even weirder is when one opens their mouth to the closemouthed kiss. The crazy part is there are 2 good kisses and one good kiss scene n this entire series between the main, and they are in like the last 2 episodes.

This drama is worth the watch, but the kissing might make you cringe. However, never fear!!! Its worth enduring to watch this awesome drama.

I would have rated this higher because the first 10 eps were great. And then they put so many sub-plots, which i fastforwarded. This is a differnt gender-bender, it gave me a bad taste in my mouth, because the drama made you think that everyone was alright with a guy - guy relationship. I like romance with boy and girl, boy knowing she's a girl but not misleading the viewers until the very end. It is just my standard.
Won't rewatch - too long
Music - i am not really ineterested

But the lead actor was great (swoon) - i would watch his other dramas- It is the first time i have seen him.

For me it's a kind of boaring. I tried so many time to watch it but its too much..
Acting is poor. Main leads are not good at acting.
When I watched "Coffee prince" or "you are beautiful" i was amazed.
I started to watch with that feeling.
Hopeless drama

A different kind of gender-bender. This particular concept is not a new one, specially in Asian dramas. In-fact, it's a well exploited plot to create humourous scenes. However, unlike the majorities out there, where the reason behind the gender facade is to mainly get close to the other lead, the reason here was a very different one. Therefore, it quite hooked me up, to know, how the story would progress. And it certainly didn't disappoint me. It was refreshing and quite good. But I certainly wouldn't put it up in the 'great' category. I must say, the story had a huge potential so great work by the writers.

The overall story was good. A little refreshing with the female lead, Yanuo, being disguised as a boy since a very early age, hence, she is quite accustomed to the living style of a male. She doesn't make stupid girlish mistakes or fumble on her speech from a male's point of view. Her acting is quite natural. The male lead of Zi Feng was played quite well by Baron Chen. But he could have done much better. The development of romance was natural and nice. The chemistry between them was certainly there but I don't know why, it didn't attract me much. It was like at some places I could feel it but at other, I simply couldn't. What was more picking on my mind was that the female lead from nowhere gave a vibe of 25 years old. What's more is that I couldn't feel any femininity on her, even when she actually revealed her true self to the hero. It was like, I could feel the sexual tension sometime, there were great kissing scenes but the whole love attraction felt missing.

Other pros of this drama were the secondary characters. I actually loved them more than the leads. The love feeling from the side of Zhe Rui actually felt better than Zi Feng. However, all of them were great. I like their OST shoot. All white, dashing and beautiful. It felt bang on to the vibe of the drama. The locations used were good.

All in all, a good drama. The different storyline makes it worth watching and creates anticipation. But I won't go for a rewatch.
