KBS Drama Special 2012: A Spoonbill Flies Away

A father dies after living apart from his son for 30 years, leaving behind only an old house and a camera filled with photographs. Through these traces, a man begins to rediscover both his father and himself. Gyeong Ho learns of his father’s death after years of estrangement. While sorting through his belongings, he discovers numerous photographs of birds, and among them, images of a mysterious young woman. Once known for his good looks, Gyeong Ho’s success was short-lived. His life has since fallen into a slump, and the literary world now regards him as a failure. Unable to form meaningful relationships, he drifts through life, even finding himself fixated on his friend’s wife to ease his loneliness. Determined to uncover the truth, Gyeong Ho tracks down the woman from the photographs—Ju Hui, a widow raising her young son while running a small bed-and-breakfast. Believing she may have been someone important to his father, he decides to stay at her B&B. As he gradually learns who she is and what she meant to his father, Gyeong Ho begins to confront his own life and finds the inspiration to start writing again.
