That being said I do think the plot dragged a bit in the middle. I was bored halfway through the first month they went to training camp. It was understandable that Qian Rui needed to grow as a player, but it definitely could have been condensed into fewer episodes.
Overall though, I really really enjoyed this. I'd consider it a favorite of mine.

The romance takes time to develop and I could see that being frustrating for some people but the friendship between the main characters before their relationship develops was honestly one of my favorite parts. And the volleyball parts are good too. There are some silly bits but the kind of silly that was mostly cute.
Admittedly, there were some scenes that I skipped through. In the early episodes especially. But if you're looking for something simple and cute with some good characters and fun actors, I would definitely suggest giving this drama a try.

Cute drama on friendship and love
Chanced upon this drama over a decade ago when I was in my late teens. This was how I got to know Annie Chen and 2nd drama I watched from Godfrey but also my favorite drama of his. I recently started watching old dramas and began re-watching this show. It certainly brings back many teenage days memories, despite some silly parts of the drama, it is quite realistic that some close friends will ultimately become couple, which is very sweet (if they last like this happy ending in the drama)! :) That aside, RIP Godfrey, gone too soon. Was this review helpful to you?
Great story, natural acting of all and particularly the leads.
The story is great with childhood friends going through a rollercoaster of emotions. There's enough hilarious moments to tickle your funnybone. There's jealousy between stakeholders of the volleyball matches being played. There's great camaraderie between the two leads and there are moments of suspense and sadness. Overall it's wonderful to watch. The acting is very natural and I only wish the subtitles were in English. I had to use Google Translate which killed half the pleasure of watching.(I'm an ardent Godfrey Gao (RIP) fan from India. I've been watching the dramas he acted in and I must say that he was a fine actor. The Net shows that he was a wonderful human being too. Most of the dramas he acted in have English subtitles, though VOLLEYBALL LOVER (2010) doesn't have. I've been searching in the Net, but sadly haven't found it with English subtitles yet. It's a treat to watch him and I'd love to watch all the series and movies he acted in. RIP Godfrey Gao. You were pulled away too soon. Strength to his family and his fans.)
