Mary Stayed Out All Night

I considered myself a Moon Geun Young fan, because I think she has an incredible talent for acting today. But it occurred to me to see My Little Bride and this drama at the same time. No more Moon Geun Young for me.

I loved Kim Jae Wook deeply for his half-Japanese in Coffee Prince, for his ganache in Antique Bakery, for his incredible role in Bad Guy, in Voice ... the sweet character of Temperature of Love ... And here fades worse of what he did in Who are you.

Kim Jae Wook is like a kaonashi (Sen to Chihiro No kamikakushi) begging affection ... I was sorry to see him like that. His acting versatility is incredible ... it really hurt to see him like that, and his horrible hairstyle.

I hate this drama. I will regret forever the time I lost seeing it.

I re-watched Mary Stayed Out All Night. This is something I watched originally early on in my k-drama watching career, as it stars the Prince of Asia, Jang Geun Suk, who I loved so very much in You're Beautiful that I went on a binge watching everything I could find with him in it. Mary Stayed Out All Night (or sometimes it's known as Marry Me, Mary) has Moon Geun Young as Wi Mae Ri, the daughter of a father who is always on the run from debtors, and Jang Geun Suk as Kang Moo Kyul, an indie rocker who plays with his band in Hongdae. There's also Kim Jae Wook (who was delightful in Coffee Prince and another compelling reason for me to watch this show, though the stiffness that was an asset for his character in Coffee Prince is kind of a hindrance for his character in this show) as Jung In, the son of the chaebol who was childhood friends with Mae Ri's deceased mother. Rounding out (squaring out?) the love square is Kim Hyo Jin as Seo Joon, a temperamental actor and Moo Kyul's ex-girlfriend who's still holding a torch for him.

Mary Stayed Out All Night is a contract marriage drama. Mae Ri fakes a marriage with Moo Kyul in order to try to get out of the arranged marriage that her father and the chaebol arrange between her and Jung In. The pacing is uneven in this show, hitting a period just before the end where it really drags on, but I still find it utterly charming. When watching the early episodes, I really feel like one of Jang Geun Suk's goals was to follow up You're Beautiful with a drama where he smiles his adorable, heart melting smile as often as he made his twisty mouth, bitter pants face in You're Beautiful. Where the drama starts to drag is in the latter episodes, where his character gets much more broody and does a lot less smiling. I will say that this is the drama that showed me that Jang Geun Suk knows how to kiss a woman. :)

The story - wasn`t that bad and it was interesting but there were a few boring eps they could`ve made it more appealing. Acting/Cast - well i felt like the cast was great and fit the whole story but they lacked chemistry between the characters and i felt like Kim Jae Wook/Jung In`s character was kinda plain and not strong enough. The Music - was definitely the best we all know why - Jang Geun Suk - and only because of him i didn`t drop the drama which btw it took me 3 days to finish and i usually finish a drama of 16 eps in 1 day (but of course it has to be a good one). I usually don`t re-watch dramas and of course this one i surely won`t.

At first, when I've read the synopsis, I was like . . . "Oh! It's boring.." So, even if I really like Jang Geun Seuk, I didn't watch this drama. Well I was wrong. This drama is worth watching for (for me). It started with a thrill and ended beautifully. It's full of heart-melting romantic scenes. Geun-Geun couple's so cute. They really did well. Especially Jang Geun Seuk. I began to love him even more. I get to see more of him singing. Gosh! I really love his voice.
All in all, I recommend this for those 'romantic-drama lovers' like me. I bet you'll love this drama too.
