PROS
+ This has some of the same magic that was captured in My Sassy Girl
+ It's also cool how they retroactively made a prequel in a way
+ The amazingly loveable main cast is the best part
CONS
- Some of the movie feels unstructured and a bit random, even though it's still entertaining
- If the dense, serious tone of the opening and the contrasting goofy scene that plays right after bothers you, find a different movie (it can be off-putting at best and upsetting at worst)
I think I would prefer My Sassy Girl 9/10 times, but there is still something a little special about Windstruck. I almost wished that I watched this one first to avoid this illogical "lesser than" comparison.
Windstruck is not for everyone, but it is a fun, yet emotionally mature adventure that I'm thankful I got to experience.
8.5/10

I have a strange taste in my mouth… I want to adore this movie, but the end was long and mellow… so I just liked it…
STORY – not much of a plot. Yeo Kyung Jin is a force of nature that, because of the past, lives her sister’s life… Myung Woo meets her in a bizarre situation. He wants to see the real girl and he falls in love for the real person and not the cop. Lots of funny scenes, stupid decisions, and a feel-good chemistry.
ACTING – wonderful acting of both leading roles. The others almost do not exist.
MUSIC – beautiful and “painted” most of the scenes very well.
REWATCH – do not think so. I cannot separate the movie from that ending. Maybe one or 2 scenes.
OVERALL – I get that some people feel similarities to the movie my sassy girl. I prefer that ending much more. It is better in every way. But I think the middle of the movie and the chemistry is better in this one. Wish it was perfect to me as it was to so many!

“Love, Fate, and a Dash of Magic: The Heartwarming Whirlwind of Windstruck”
Windstruck (2004) swept me away with its charming blend of romance, comedy, and bittersweet drama. Starring the effervescent Jun Ji-hyun as Officer Yeo-jin, the film follows her spirited journey through love and loss, marked by a quirky connection with a mysterious stranger. What felt like a simple romantic tale quickly turned into a heartfelt exploration of fate, grief, and the delicate dance between holding on and letting go. 💕🍃🌧️The movie’s lighthearted moments—packed with playful banter and quirky antics—balanced beautifully with its emotional depth. Jun Ji-hyun’s vibrant performance made Yeo-jin feel instantly relatable, full of warmth and vulnerability. Visually, the film sparkles with soft pastel tones and whimsical scenes that add a fairy-tale quality to the story. Though some twists tugged on my heartstrings hard, it’s that blend of hope and melancholy that made Windstruck linger with me long after the final frame. ✨🌬️💔

Romantic Demolition
Well that was a rollercoaster. So first of all this movie certifies without a doubt that Jun Ji-hyun's hair is gorgeous and has virtually no equal. It has to be seen to be believed.
As for the story, well it would be hard to pinpoint the genre exactly. It seems to me like this movie tries to balance many different tones, tones that would make the sum of it something resembling a Romance/Drama/Comedy/Action movie (in order of importance according to yours truly).
And I loved that about it. It's not afraid to drastically change tone, and it does so to great effect. The movie does veer into excessive melodrama at one point but apart from that, it's wonderfully executed and the drama packs a wallop. Killer score. The central relationship works really well too.
Needless to say that Jun Ji-hyun knocks it out of the park as is tradition.
Credits to Tim on letterboxd for this expression, but it's indeed a worthy addition to the "Romantic Demolition" genre. Some whiplash to be expected.
