Whilst watching i felt like Monster(2023) reminded me a lot of Ningen Shikkaku(1994) and shared many similar elements, for instance:

- Multiple perspectives
- School Bullying
- Strange/psychotic teachers
- Dysfunctional families
- Bully befriending victim
- Parents trying to seek justice for their children
- LGBTQ relationship between male students
- Brutal and depressing

Both darker human dramas by Nojima Shinji that are difficult to stomach and get through for many. While the plots are different for both, both focus on darkness within people and the aspects of humanity most people would rather look away from. Both have a very similar feeling to them.

Both are films about a severely bullied boy. It seems like everyone in his world is against him, even his own parents and teachers. The parent ends up finding out about the bullying and trying to seek revenge.
