This is not for everyone. If you expect it will give you a feel good feeling like your typical romantic comedy you will be disappointed and I won't even be surprised if you ended up hating the movie cause of how brutal honest it is.

An Introspective Character-Centred Film
If you want a typical, romantic comedy, this film probably isn't for you. If you even want a film with romance in it, this film probably also isn't for you. This is a story about almost exclusively the protagonist and her journey. The genre that Tremble All You Want sits in is certainly very interesting, with what I'd say is a chic flick mixed in with a large dose of self-awareness and realism. It's quirky and light-hearted, and yet it still manages to deliver an emotional punch - a rather commendable accomplishment.
Mayu Matsuoka is truly the centre of this. She pours her heart into acting this role and making the protagonist (Yoshika )truly come to life. And as of such, rather than there being a solidified "plot", the film is centred around the character development of Yoshika. And it works: you quickly find yourself invested in this character, there's just something so endearing about her. I'm not surprised it won the audience award at a film festival.
The journey Yoshika goes through in this film heartwarming, yet still raw. It's about growing up and moving on, and learning to gradually find comfort in another person. Unique and surprisingly heartfelt, it is certainly worth your time to sit down and watch one evening.

I love how Mayu's character is so relatable I can almost see myself through her. The actors fully embodied their characters and I love it. This is not the normal cliche romantic comedy school-based movie I thought it was when I first saw its fmv—whuch made me watch this. It is more than that. I literally had a roller coaster of emotions and it actually hurts how this movie has slapped me with the reality of this world.
I can say that it's not for everyone's taste but someone who can relate to the story will really love this a lot. I am really thankful I stumbled upon this masterpiece because fam, this, this is the eye-opener I've been needing all these years.

This is the first time I’ve related strongly to a fictional character
I’m going to preface this review by saying that this movie is probably not for everyone. If you’re starting this out thinking that it’s gonna be a typical romcom, then there may be instances where you’d be weirded out. Or worse, you may even think that it’s boring. You’d probably have to be at a specific point in your life to really feel this movie in your heart.
It just so happened that I was at a specific point in my life when I watched this movie… and it spoke to me so eerily that I felt like the writer just peeked into my life and decided to make a movie out of it.
For the most part, it’s a character driven movie than it is a romcom. At first, they presented Yoshika as an adult that is still heavily caught up on her high school crush. But as the movie progresses, it shows that it’s about Yoshika’s yearning for connection. A connection that she badly desires, but lacks the courage to pursue. Because of it, she just ends up living everyday passing by people she’s dreamed of having a conversation with, and just imagines a world where she was not the way that she is. It presents the loneliness that comes with introversion—not in a straightforward way—but in a creative manner that you might miss it if you’ve never felt that way in your entire life.
Performance-wise, Mayu did not just act to become Yoshika; she BECAME Yoshika. She perfectly encapsulated all her quirks, and seemed to have a firm understanding of her character. The movie itself had a really slow-paced feel to it, which I personally liked. Overall, I give this a solid 10.
(I’ve watched this a long time ago and this is actually my favorite movie of all time, I only became active in MDL recently which is why I only got to review it now.)
