Lovers in Bloom

무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다 ‧ Drama ‧ 2017

Hi guys,

Can you explain to me why Tae Jin and Goong Hwa's is so difficult? For example, why should she marry someone who's divorced but can't marry a bachelor? The status of a widow is somehow seeing as "inferior" in Korea? I wanted to understand if this portraits well Korean culture or if it's an exaggeration.

Does anyone know anything about this subject?

Sadly, you maybe right. In conservative cultures, such behavior is very normal. Classes still exist. I recommend you learn more about "Leftover Women" phenomenon in China.

Green Chair also looks at an odd Korean law about couples.
It was also mentioned that until about a decade ago it is illegal to marry someone with the same last name in Korea even if they are not related
Thank you very much Timbone!

I knew about the blind dates that some parents arrange for their children. But I had never heard about the Marriage Market. It's really shocking. Are you referring to the movie Green Chair? From 2005 or 2013? They both seem interesting but their classifications are really low. I will try to get more information about this topic.

Thank you for your insight about the subject.
