The modern day socio economic classification portrayed in a way that will take your breath away
Portraying the struggles of the people who comes at the very last row of social classes, this movie is dark and would make you pause and think. The cinematography, direction and acting of this movie is definitely phenomenal. The twists and turns were unexpected. The way higher status people will dismiss that lower to them with something as insignificant as "bad smell" portrays how those with money are never concerned about anything but themselves. How easy it is for them kick out someone, find a replacement. How those who live desperate life would do anything to get the bare minimum while those with everything are never satisfied with anything. The gut wrenching progression of the plot definitely made it a movie made like never before. Was this review helpful to you?
Internationally renowned for a reason
Whenever I mention that I enjoy Korean cinema, "Parasite" is usually the first movie people will bring up. Its popular reputation even amongst people who do not usually watch Korean movies is well-earned.The movie brings thrillers and black comedies to another level by not relying on cheap jump scares, but rather by creating a too realistic and uncomfortable atmosphere which the viewer cannot escape. The many twists and turns and different use of symbolism to provides social commentary throughout the movie had me continuing to think about the movie after I was finished watching it. Which to me is the mark of a successful psychological thriller.
What I loved about this movie is that it is very impactful during the first watch, but also made me want to do some more research afterwards to look into the details and symbolism which I may have missed. This is a great movie to introduce people to Korean Cinema, and its subtle details and various easter eggs provides great rewatchability.
Overall rating: 5/5
Quality: 5/5
Enjoyment: 5/5

I just watched Parasite...
I just watched 'Parasite' and I'm still reeling from the experience. This movie is a masterclass in storytelling, social commentary, and cinematic craft. The cast, led by Song Kang-ho, Park So-dam, Jang Hye-jin, Choi Woo-shik, Lee Sun-kyun, and Cho Yeo-jeong, deliver performances that are both nuanced and powerful. Each actor brings their A-game, making their characters feel fully realized and authentic.Bong Joon-ho's direction is pitch-perfect, using long takes, clever camera work, and a clever script to keep you on the edge of your seat. The themes of class struggle, inequality, and the exploitation of the underprivileged are timely and thought-provoking.
The film's use of symbolism, metaphor, and foreshadowing adds depth and complexity to the narrative. The production design and cinematography are also noteworthy, capturing the stark contrast between the wealthy and poor communities.
Overall, 'Parasite' is a cinematic triumph that will leave you both entertained and uncomfortable. It's a must-watch for anyone interested in thought-provoking, socially conscious filmmaking. Bong Joon-ho has solidified his place as one of the greatest directors of our time."

One of the best movies ever
Parasite lives in the extremes of cinematography, its palettes are not colourful with multicolour but rather paint the most real of pictures of what South Korean societies are like. It is an ode to Director Bong's incredible work that Parasite feels so real and raw.Parasite questions social inequality in the most of crude of forms, through micro-aggressions, violence, abuse, discrimination and isolation. Every moment of the movie feels like a punch to the gut and it answers and questions notions that is not only limited to South Korea but even beyond the realms. Parasite's imagery, its acting, its message, its want to tell a story will live on like a legend. Decades later the story will live on to still question and rebel.

Truly Best Picture
There are not enough words to describe this truly phenomenal movie. I had watched this way back when and knew that if it were an American film, it would be nominated and no doubt win, Best Picture. To my surprise, it was and it did. I was elated because it is a human story told in human terms with a deep understanding of the human psyche. This story is relatable if ever you were ever marginalized or barely making it and you KNEW you were smarter than them. It is a fantastic story of human tragedy and to a degree human redemption. Was this review helpful to you?
So how on Earth did this movie win an Oscar?
So I finally got the opportunity to watch this movie. And what a big waste of 2 hours of my life. This was the most boring movie I've ever watched. How the fuck did this movie get an Oscar? Like I get the point that this family conned their way into another family's home to make money and then some rando is living in their basement and they don't even know that? Then he starts going on a k*lling spree? Makes no fucking sense. And then the dad of the poor family k*lls the father of the rich family and then locks himself in the bunker so he won't face any criminal charges. To the very very last seconds of the movie where the son buys the house. Where he, his mom and his dad reunite. I think it sucks the one girl dies in the movie because she was cute. Was this review helpful to you?
So, overall, Parasite is good. If you like movies about real people, that are not afraid to show the raw reality and social injustice, than watch this one. It is a roller coaster of emotions, with lighter, more comical moments and more thrilling, suspenceful moments. And the film combines them masterfully and everything works well together. The performances were top notch as well. The story, finally, was well paced and interesting.

Bong Joon-ho channeling a stronger Tsui Hark than all imitators (and some dare say, even the master himself) in an extended "Hide N Seek" sequence the kind of which I always love to death, featuring the most likeable scumbag family on the planet.
Song Kang-ho, again. Everyone's a natural. They ease into this role so effortlessly I'm guessing it's making a slew of actors jealous right now. I'm so glad a Korean movie performed so well with American critics, it brings more people to the light side!

well this was kinda crazy
So, I heard about this movie and it was very hyped when it got out and because it got into the Oscar and everything. I heard about it, but I wasn’t actually watching Kdramas yet when it came out. Saw this on Netflix and decided to watch because of the past hype.not going to lie, the beginning was kinda boring. But I think it’s pretty well written. It was interesting how they all got into the house. It actually got good when they were in the house and the family came back. I was actually stressing so bad, that’s when the story got more interesting and exciting to watch. I was shocked when the basement guy got out, hit the son and started stabbing people. It was even more crazy when he the dad stabbed the rich father. WTF though. Because of the thing about smelling bad ? like I’m sure he did smell bad, just look at him and his house. Also, he made the face and he was holding his nose when he got the keys but SERIOUSLY that man was in the basement for years. of course he must smell like shit if he hadn’t washed himself in months/years. That seemed to had triggered the dad… I was kinda sad, poor family (I’m talking about the rich family). They seemed like good people, I think they were a cute family that obviously loved each other. I loved the parents with the younger child. That scene of them on the sofa caught me off guard.
I wasn’t sad that the girl (the daughter died), I actually think the rich guy death is more sad if I think about it. The main poor family did bad things so, they kinda got what was coming for them
And the ending, bro is in the basement, crazy. It an open ending, which I usually hate… but I think this ending is interesting.
So overall, I think this was not a bad movie, some interesting twists and got excited in the second half. I think the script was well written. But, my rating got a bit down because it was boring at first and I actually feel bad for that family who got ruined because of them.
