Fresh! That's my first thought when I start to watch this series. This series is quite mild, but the development of everyone's personality and feelings are clearly visible here. One thing I like the most here is the friendship. This series does not recognize the phrase "love will destroy the friendship". They still support each other even though the person they like likes someone else. And I really love how that friendship continues to develop until they are grow up.
Sometimes I feel exasperated by Chen Xiao Xi's childish attitude, but well, maybe when I was in school I did the same thing. LOL. And I really love to see when Jiang Chen feels jealous seeing Chen Xiao Xi and Wu Bo Song's closeness ^_^
Acting/Cast :
They all did great and so natural, but I especially love Shen Yue acting. She's so cute I can't help it but to adore her ^_^
Music :
The opening and ending song are so easy listening, and I put them both on my Spotify playlist now ^_^
Rewatch Value :
I definitely will watch this series again if I need some cuteness in my life.

I don’t get the hype at all…
The storyline had potential, but the writing was horrible. The FL could not stand her. While in high-school no backbone what-so-ever. In college, was just very immature and childish. Adulthood, come on sis, you broke it off with him and are now mad because he didn’t what?!? I don’t even know, she didn’t even give him a chance to explain. The proposal that was cute, the night after that was cute, only because he was blushing. The ending left me wanting. Sighs. Was this review helpful to you?

The squad is goals. If you have friends like these in the real world, consider yourself very, very lucky. The second lead syndrome is strong but you know the ending is how it should be. If you haven't watched it yet, consider yourself lucky because you get to experience how I felt the first time I saw it.

After watching so many dramas, this is the first time I ever wrote a review because I may say, I can't move on. There is something about the story, the characters, the music, and even the artists itself that caught me. Yes the drama was cliche, yes we can find dramas with the same story line, yes it can be predicted, but I guarantee you, out of the dramas I've seen there is no such work that can be compared to the warmth it made me feel. I only watched it for 4 days, but I felt like the characters grew within me.
It was so cliche to the point that it was so realistic. It is more than just a love story. It is also about school, about family and about friends. It showed a slice of life; the youth. Everything was so real. From the title itself, it taught me that love can be so beautiful. Whether it be a puppy love, first love, unrequited love, requited love and true love. All of it is beautiful. It was so real that it made me smile, laugh, cry, angry and feel excited. It reminded me of how simple and how fun high school life can be. It also reminded me of college acceptances, university applications and even dreams I strive to reach. It made me wonder, what my life could possibly be.
How nice must it really be to feel in love. Whether it be to your family, to your friends, to your work, and even to your first crush.
Dear Jiang Chen, wo hen ai ni (one of the few words I remember from learning Chinese). AND PLEASE STOP SETTING THE BAR TO HIGH!! I mean, how could you portray the character so perfectly?! I already loved you since episode 1 and I think I will still love you. I just hated the fact that you waited until college to make her your girl. Or maybe I didn't really hate it because I liked seeing you in your jealous state. I love you, that's it.
Dear Chen Xiao Xi, thank you for the fun you brought us. There is no single thing to hate about you. Or maybe I just didn't like you chasing Jiang Chen so much? Or maybe that made the story really fun and exciting. The push and pull. I admire your persuasion, courage and loyalty. It was so innocent. I also liked your height difference with Jiang Chen. I liked your height because... same.
Dear Wo Bo Song, why?! Why do you have to be in pain for how many years? I taught when you left school, the pain is over. But why do you still have to be persuasive until you were all adult. You made me cry! Because out of all the scenes, your unrequited love is the most painfully real.
Dear Lin Jing Xiao, I admire you character for being so strong, for standing so tall, for studying so well, and for not chasing the star when you already got the moon. There's nothing I hate about you because I really love your character.
Dear Lu Yang, well from writing love story to everyone to marrying the prettiest girl in your class, your great. Your character is so funny but the health condition was so sad. It's so good it ended well. Or else this light story will be heavy drama and it's not going to be the same.
All in all, thank you for sharing us your youth. It was a nice story and it will forever be kept within me. This is fiction, but I got real learning. Thank you, A Love So Beautiful.
P.S. Thank you Jiang Chen for inspiring me. I am a pre-med student, graduating next year, carrying so much load from school and just surviving until graduation. Seeing you look good in white coat, it inspired me again to work hard and made me want to continue the dream I gave up because it was hard, to become I doctor. But was it really only 5 years? Because after pre-med there is still med for me.
P.P.S. It is April 22, 2018 today. I'll come back next year and edit this if I continued med school.

A Love So Beautiful ❤️
This was the first drama I watched. From hete I started yo watch Cdrama and fell in love with it❤️. In the beginning actually I was not that excited to watch it as I thought it would be so boring to watch a drama of 23 episodes while reading the subtitles. But this drama proved my totally wrong. When you watch it, the storyline is so beautiful that you merely remember that you are watching while reading the subtitles.CORE DRAMA REVIEW: So this drama mainly focuses in the life of 5 school friends; how there relationship changes over time; how their life goes on after school. And it's a beautiful story of love and friendship. You enjoy each and every character... You remember your school life if you are a passout. You get some nostalgic feels, which is truly nice😊.
CHARACTERS:
Hu Yitian as Jiang Chen : The most serious boy of the class; who keeps on studing the whole day; almost don't smile (but when he does, I can bet you will fall in love); crush of almost all the girls in the school; neighbour to Chen Xiao Xi.
Shen Yue as Chen Xiao Xi : The ordinary girl; who loves to draw cartoons (and is good at it); loves Jiang Chen and keeps pursuing him; bff with Lin Jing Xiao, Lu Yang and Wu Bo Song; keeps on doing all the crazy things; a person with a beautiful heart.
Wang Zi Wei as Lin Jing Xiao : Most beautiful girl in the squad; always standing by the side of Chen Xiao Xi.
Sun Ning : The funny guy in the squad; bff with Lin Jing and Chen Xiao; no one takes him seriously 🤣.
Gao Zhi Ting as Wu Bo Song : The athlete guy; wonderful swimmer ; bff with Chen Xiao; always in a happy mood.
MUSIC : The music album of this series is just a treat of your ears. Even if you can't understand a single word..you will still enjoy it. Its like a stress releasing album. You just feel happy and there is no more stress after you listen to it.
Lastly, I am happy that I considered watching this series and got into the cdrama world. Even though the starting was quite slow..but later on they make up to it and you enjoy it thoroughly ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.

Let me start with the story.
Some people compare it with the drama, 'itazura na kiss' from japan , 'its started with the kiss' from Taiwan, 'mischievous/playful kiss' from korea.. so i thought it will be just a remake that is why i am quite hesitant to watch this. I've seen a lot of drama where the guy is popular and arrogant while the stupid and weak girl is head over heels to the guy same thought pop into my head as i read the synopsis but my guts tell me to give this drama a try and good thing i did because now this drama is one of my favorite drama as of 2018.
This drama makes me feel happy to the point where i laugh so hard that my tummy aches.. Good vibes for those people that are depress like me hahaha..
It also makes me sad that i cried so hard that it swell so much in the morning. Although the plot is sometimes predictable, i don't know why i still feel sad watching the scenes that you know what will happen already. This makes this drama very addicting.
It also makes me scream at the top of my lungs (screaming while hugging the pillow to prevent my neighbors from getting angry at me because i am so loud) and squeeze whatever things that my hands will get on because of those romantic moments. Those romantic moments are very common( walking together, holding hands, 3 seconds stare, almost kiss scenes) but i don't know why i still feel like screaming all the time that my heart will soon burst out of my body. That was just the common romantic moments.. Imagine the two main leads kissing scenes, i would die of too much sweetness and mushiness..
Actually i don't know how to explain my roller coaster ride with this drama.. Only those people who have watch the drama will understand me.
PS. For those people that are hesitant like me because of the comparison to other drama (mention above). Please don't hesitate because this drama is different. It makes you addicted from the very first episode to the last. Although it has a satisfying ending, the addiction that i have in this drama makes me want it to have a season 2.
Reasons why i love this drama:
1) the story might sound cliche because i already seen so many drama that looks like this but all of those plot holes from the previous drama that i watch makes me unsatisfied and the drama 'a love so beautiful' filled those holes and completed the story that i have in my mind.
2) the cast/characters are very lovable. You might think that the main lead jiang chen and xaio xi are your typical stereotype stupid/poor/weak girl love the campus crush/popular/genius/ arrogant boy. But don't judge yet because there characters might be different from what you think they are. First let start with :
*Jiang Chen the popular guy known for his looks and high grades. Because of this characteristic we might think that he is the arrogant main lead who doesn't treat the female lead right. But a big no for me! Maybe sometimes he treats the female lead poorly but it is just because he doesn't know how to express himself. With this kind of plot sometimes you will root for the second male lead but Jiang Chen is different, you will root for him more especially to those jealous scenes which i find cheezy and cute. One thing that makes him more lovable for me is his one liner sentence in a pokerface. (sometimes sarcastic, cringy and sweet)
*Xaio Xi, a cheerful girl who doesn't study much, but that doesn't mean she is stupid( just average) is expressive about her admiration towards Jiang Chen. From the very first episode the male lead already know how Xaio Xi feels for him. She is not the typical "doesn't do anything good" type of girl because she is good/talented at something.

*CUTEST DRAMA EVER*
This is by far my favorite drama. It was the first drama I had ever sit down to watch and boy did it not disappoint. Even after years of watching many other dramas with perhaps higher production values, more experienced acting, and fewer cliche story-lines I find myself coming back to this one, every year, to put a smile on my face, to laugh a bit, to cry.To be honest the storyline started off really cringey and a bit slow. Luckily I was watching it with my little sister, so we laughed it off and decided to give it a chance. The slow romance however is what then drew us deeper into the drama. Every smirk, every subtle action that reflected Jiang Chen’s true emotions kept us going, kept us waiting for more. Hu Yitian (the actor for Jiang Chen) truly did an amazing job in making each emotion, each action count. Great acting! He had me smiling, laughing, and at the end even sobbing! Chen Xiaoxi was also great— initially wasn’t the biggest fan of her either, but you see her mature not only as a character but Shen Yue as an actress, growing more comfortable in her role and selling the story even more! The chemistry was wonderful, the love, so beautiful! (lol)
Despite loving this drama there were three main things that truly pissed me off (but I won’t dock points from it bc the love is too beautiful and I can overlook it in general):
1. Second lead syndrome was too much for my heart. From the beginning, Wu Bosong was just too good and I kind of think the writers did him dirty in the last few episodes— completely changing his character to point back to Jiang Chen. (I’m glad they still made him the bigger person though, in making that last call.) He deserves a better resolution, less of that playboy/shallow vibe, an actual love interest perhaps... which brings me to my next point
2. Lin Jing Xiao and Wu Bosong had incredible chemistry and honestly should have been a couple! The whole Lu Yang storyline was unfair to her; he didn’t treat her the way she deserved to be treated, to be valued. It was always her having to give in because he was going to die— there wasn’t passion, there wasn’t chemistry and it was just awk. Her and Wu Bosong tho. They could’ve been a great couple. The characters truly vibed. It was a disappointment not to see anything between them.
3. Chen Xiaoxi is an awful friend. I was a bit annoyed at times by how obsessed she was with Jiang Chen to the point of not appreciating those around her and the sacrifices they made to make her happy. She wasn’t great to Wu Bosong— which I understand can be an awkward situation, with him liking her and being too much at times. But, the way she treated Lin Jing Xiao was not cool. I wish she had valued her more too...
**Wow, Lin Jing Xiao deserved better— I say she has her own show, where she divorces from Lu Yang and becomes an amazing astronomer, who knows maybe even an astronaut, and as she’s receiving some award years later at the Blue House for how she’s brought honor to her country she sees Wu Bosong, also there for placing Gold again at the Olympics. She's surprised by how handsome he looks-- or maybe she realizes he maybe always ways she never noticed before. They meet up, talk, and decide to go out for a drink, laugh about the good ol’ days, and in a moment their eyes meet, there's silence, tension builds, and they look away awkwardly, thinking to themselves “what was that?” He drives her home. She says it was good to catch up. And he watches as she walks into her apartment. Smiling to himself. Days later he meets up with Jiang Chen and tells him he saw Lin Jing Xiao and well the rest is history.** Forgive my fanfic rant. Petition for Lin Jing Xiao to have another chance at shining like the star she is and being appreciated!
That being said. Favorite show. Love the characters. Feel like I know them lol. Love the actors. Love the storyline. Beautiful.
10/10 do recommend if you wanna feel all them butterflies. If you like cliche, cute, school-college-life shows, this ones for you!
XOXO Drama Girl Rafa

A Love So Beautiful... and Frustrating
There's something quietly timeless about A Love So Beautiful. It doesn't rely on big dramatic twists or over-the-top angst. Instead, it captures the sweet awkwardness of youth and the quiet complexities of growing up. The drama focuses on the long, winding road between two people who clearly love each other but don’t always know how to show it.The acting is one of the strongest elements. Emotions are delivered with a natural, grounded feel that makes the story feel sincere. Wu Bosong’s character is especially well-portrayed. His loyalty, heartbreak, and quiet moments of sadness are deeply moving. But at the same time, his role in the love triangle isn’t as innocent as it seems.
Truthfully, Wu Bosong might have been the most selfish of them all. He knew, just like everyone else, that Xiaoxi liked Jiang Chen. Her feelings weren’t hidden; they were obvious to anyone paying attention. Even after being rejected multiple times, he continued to pursue her, hoping she might change her mind. While that came from love, it also contributed to more confusion and emotional pressure for both Jiang Chen and Xiaoxi. His repeated efforts to sway her feelings complicated things unnecessarily.
The plot overall is enjoyable, with a good mix of warmth and nostalgia, but there are moments that can be frustrating, mainly due to character decisions. Jiang Chen is often seen as emotionally distant, but it becomes clear over time that he’s just socially awkward and struggles to express himself. Xiaoxi, meanwhile, is sweet and passionate, but she has a tendency to be emotionally reactive and inconsistent.
One scene in particular really drove this home. Xiaoxi calls Jiang Chen to ask if he can go to a realtor appointment. He immediately offers to take the day off without even knowing what it was about, which shows he wants to be there for her, but she refuses, telling him it’s fine and not to worry. She doesn’t even tell him why she wanted him to come. Then later, she gets upset that he didn’t show up. That kind of contradiction becomes a pattern: saying one thing, feeling another, and expecting him to somehow know.
And honestly, I got pretty mad at the couple during the moment where Xiaoxi complains that she always has to guess what Jiang Chen is thinking. Because yes, he’s closed off, but with all her mixed signals, he also has to guess what she’s feeling. And because he’s awkward and overthinks everything, he almost always guesses wrong. He probably got used to her being upfront about her emotions, so when she stopped doing that, it made things worse. That breakdown in communication chipped away at their relationship more than any outside force ever did.
Even Lin Jingxiao, Xiaoxi’s best friend, calls her out gently but clearly. Yet Xiaoxi still chooses to shut down, avoid confrontation, and “forget” about Jiang Chen instead of talking things through.
Watching this drama for the first time now, years after its 2017 release, offers a clearer view. Without the emotional hype and nostalgia clouding judgment, it’s easier to appreciate the genuine moments while still recognizing the flaws. Back then, it probably would've felt like a perfect 10 because of all the hype. But watching it now, it feels more like a heartfelt, imperfect story about growing up and learning how to love better.
A Love So Beautiful isn’t without its faults. The story can be emotionally messy, and the characters often get in their own way. But that honesty is part of its charm. It doesn’t romanticize everything. It shows how even genuine love can be clumsy, confusing, and frustrating. And in that way, it really does leave a mark.
