I watched Go Back Couple after watching 18 Again and was afraid that the dramas were too similar and that I would make some unfair comparisons. Surprisingly, the storylines were quite different, with Go Back Couple focusing on university students’ lives while 18 Again was more focused on the father’s relationships with his children and wife as a high school student. I have to say, I absolutely hated Choi Ban Do in the beginning of the drama, and I’m definitely not alone in this. While he did seem to redeem himself in the last part of the drama and even made me shed some tears for him, I would have liked a little bit more closure with the couple, since I was left with the impression that the two returned to their time mostly because of the child and not because they thoroughly reconciled their differences. I could have also done without the unnecessary “love triangle” since it’s generally very hard for me to root for the second lead when I already know that the married couple will eventually end up back together. Instead of acting as a good friend for the FL like the second FL did for ML, he was mostly just a very annoying obstacle that was exacerbating the misunderstandings and starting unnecessary drama between the leads. It just got a little old after a while. Overall though, this drama was great and did a great job of tying up loose ends and fully exploring the idea of two middle-aged adults turning back into university students. I had a lot of laughs when they acted way older than regular students, and the mother-daughter relationship here was absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful. I’d imagine it would hit very close to home for people whose mothers also passed away. This is a beautiful drama full of amazing life lessons. Just don’t get too mad at the ML, he’s trying his best.

Marriage is a bumpy ride.. Prepare the tissues.. You will need them for these.

I have seen this series recommended multiple times… so finally decided to check it out.
Totally worth it.

It starts with a painful break up based on extreme circumstances. Life is hard, especially for new mothers and fathers. Time becomes a commodity/ escarse resource in your life… days blend together and suddenly the joy of living is no longer visible.
That’s so true… that is the test of life for JJ and Ban Do.
In a mkment of pain, JJ wishes never to have met Ban Do… and her wish comes true… they both go back in time to the time right before they met.
Filled with knowledge of the future and opportunity, ghey bith embark in reliving their youth… which is understandable. No responsibility of a family… living under the parents.. enjoying student life… who would not want more?

Here is where you see the diff approach between men and women… Ban Do took the chance to court the first love, a ballerina dancer who he never dared to ask on a date. “His maybe… if…”. While JJ spent her time enjoying her family life with her mom.

I hated how Ban Do treated JJ… always putting her down, to a humiliating break point. Also JJ was not nice to him. For most of the series, I wished them happiness separately… but of course, in korean drama fashion… they found their way back to each other.
Their love was there… buried under the boredom and routine.

The series has a steady pace, keeping it interesting and the support characters were funny and lovable as well.
I enjoyed it very much… and both JJ and Ban Do managed to make me feel their emotions and end up wishing them luck and success…
Ending was ok for me.

Music was really nice.
Overall… I recommend it and would watch it again… its now one of my top series.

--- At one point in life, we begin to take something for granted because we get comfortable and used to them. We live on considering the kindness of our love and the happiness we have are something we deserve and take them for granted. But we only realize this after we lose everything. Even someone's existence itself was not supposed to be taken for granted. ---

My heart is aching,i can't believe how much i loved this drama. I started the first episode thinking this one might be worth dropping after a couple of episodes but hell to the no. I binge watch it and it was one of the best decisions i've made.
The storyline was written brilliantly and every episode had me captivated until the end. This drama will teach you about life, friendship, and love. And the most important thing,it shows how we take family for granted and it re-discovers love in its layers and layers of depth.
I cried buckets of tears,i honestly thought i was going to drown at some point( i haven't cried like this since Goblin) but it also made me smile and laugh until my cheeks hurt. This series was packed with excellence work of art.

Also,i liked the main lead but Second lead syndrome was too strong in this one,be aware!

Overall,i think this drama just doesn't get the recognition it deserves. It's full of lessons that we all should know in life. Just watch it and be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster filled with laughter, tears, and those deep and real moments that touch you to your core. Definitely worth watching!!

They grabbed the essence of love, family and they also grabbed my heart

A drama that has to be watched. A drama that cures your depression. Makes you emotional, makes you cry, makes you laugh, makes you appreciate. I haven't been this moved by a drama for a WHILE. And I watch a lot, like a lot. This is everything I have ever asked for.

This was a happy accident. I am so glad I decided to give it another shot! I remember watching the first ep but dropping it after 30 mins. But holy shit.
I swear, it's so good, way better than many popular dramas, with those popular actors and that high budget and CG. Kdramas tend to go too extreme with drama and tragedies and it's not like those shows are bad, it's just that I can't seem to cry or feel empathy. But I cried rivers watching this, especially those last episodes. Those moments were heart-wrenching but heart-warming the same time. It tears you apart in a good way. Ma Jin Joo's scenes with her mother just killed me, and when that damned bucket list reveal came. I couldn't even blink and I was already sobbing. This show has managed to keep everything in order, it didn't annoy, it didn't drag, it did everything RIGHT! I loved how they slowly revealed Jin Joos and Ban Dos love story and their struggles, the burdens they have to bear, the obstacles they had to overcome. One of the unexpected highlights were definitely Jin Joo's mom and her story. It was oddly relatable and so heart-warming and sweet. I have to give it to the main actors though, they were excellent and perfectly choosen.
And holy shit? The ending was done so nicely and neatly, writers! Please learn from this! The side-characters were all so lovely as well, I loved that they all had their closures.
What makes this show different from others, is that they make you emotional, but the real emotional. Even though the scene itself may seem like many others you've watched, it just feels realer, sadder, it grabs your heart. I dont know why or how, but it certainly moved me. A LOT. I haven't felt like this for a long time. A bit alive maybe? It wasn't just about marriage and divorce, it was about life and love, about mistakes and circumstances one cannot control, it was about youth and growth, it was about humans.
Thank you for creating such a wonderful experience. Teaching us many life lessons and for making us realise how precious time, our family and loved ones are.

Marriage is difficult stage of life and this is a forever stage until you die. This drama tells you couples is not just about love, but with understanding and patience with your partner. Love is one important key to marriage but not the most important. In this drama, the couple portray of what is marriage without the two characteristic. This drama maybe with fun scenes like the others, but the sad parts will be different.

I recommend this drama to understand the lives in marriage, and with work life, social life, with everything that happening around your life.

Time. Decisions. Relationship

Old but gold. I finally watched this drama after so many years.

Seeing them redo their lives after going back to their youth was entertaining; looking at how much they were sad as a pair makes me want them not to end up as a couple again, but as the story goes on and seeing how they make their decisions makes me more curious on how this series will end.

I really love how the female lead, Ma Jin Joo (Jang Nara), makes the most of her time appreciating her youth and the people around her, a.k.a. her mom. This drama will make you cherish what you have and recognize things you should treasure.

Definitely recommendable, a 9.5/10. Friendship, family, and classmates—every relationship was shown and admired.

This drama explores the question of if you could go back to the time before you started it all, what would you do? Are you going to make the same decisions you made before? Or are you going to do something you haven't had before? - This drama is very realistic in its approach. Whether it's flashback scenes or going back to the time of the 1999 scenes, every struggle, every problem, every situation is dealt with our face in such a realistic way, it's hard not to appreciate it. - This drama will play with your emotions. I mean this in the best way. One second, it will make you laugh out loud. And in the next, you will have to shred. Especially the scenes of Seo Jin and Jin Joo with her mother will have you crying out loud.
Maybe I'm biased towards stories about gaining a new perspective on life, or a relationship you never wish or regret, but I highly recommend this one. I warn anyone who's lost a parent that this can be really hard to watch at times, but there's also a great balance between comedy and insight, which keeps it from being too frustrating. I cried hard, laughed out loud, felt my feelings for life, so I considered it a dramatic success. This is the kind of drama that I don't think you will regret watching.

"As I grew older, I realized that age wasn't soaking into me... rather, I was adjusting myself to my age." What a powerful line, and so relatable.

This is a masterpiece of a drama. I expected a lot of romance and fluff but I was pleasantly surprised by the raw realism, the emotion, and the human experiences portrayed here. This drama shows you how love isn't just hugs, kisses or yearning, that it matures with years, and is more about being open and honest with each other, and understanding each other than anything else.

I loved the subject matter more than anything else; difficulties in relationships, a parent's love for a child, dangers of hiding your feelings and lacking communication, youth, friendship, caring for each other, and learning to step into each other's shoes.

The acting was top notch. There's no one who can rival Jang Nara in her ability to make you cry when she cries. The other actors were all amazing as well.

I think the only thing that would be a weakness in the drama would be the explanation behind the time-travel, which is barely even considered as something worth an explanation, till the last 3 minutes of the last episode. But I think one can let go of such things, because it's the content and the subject matter that was much more important in this case, than technicalities.

This drama made me cry and laugh and smile, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is hesitating to watch this.

I was looking for a quirky rom-com and love Jang Nara. Bonus: this one involves time travel! On paper it's pretty formulaic, but the writing and performances displayed a lot of heart. I was particularly moved by the mother-daughter story. I didn't expect to see Jang Nara crying in almost every episode! I was crying with her!

I also never root for the 2nd male lead, but it was tempting in this show! Some of the other storylines with the secondary characters were a little less than desirable, but luckily we got back to the main leads pretty quickly in each episode. I loved this quirky show and definitely recommend.

Pleasant surprise

After watching all the big name drams im in the process of going through lesser known series to enjoy. The risk is they are often lesser known for a good reason. Ie. They were not that good. All too oten i invest the time to start a series byt afte 6 or 7 episides i give uo through boredom. Generally you have to start 5 or 6 of these series to find one you want to watch to the end.

A long preamble but this was definitely one i wanted to watch to the end . A married couple about to divorce go back 20 years to 18 again. You think the premise is straightforward.. they meet again and rediscover their loce but the plot did more than that ....throwing in some twists that you didnt expect. Emotional and funny... a satisfying feel good series, well written, well acted and well directed. It fully deserves the overall 9 rating i gave it.

Go Back Couple (2017)

With the help of an interesting setup, Go Back Couple delivers a fun yet emotional trip down memory lane.

There were fewer time travel-related shows by the time this was released much less one that had a married couple doing the traveling. While one would assume terrible events had occurred or mistakes that were made which triggered the time slip, in this particular case it mostly just years and years of poor martial communication between two people who never got the adult playbook.

The story had good direction, progressed pretty smoothly, and kept the filler in check. It touched on a range of storylines though I felt some should've been explored a little more. The best parts of the show were the main couple's interactions with their/each other's families. These scenes not only pushed the story along but served as some of the more emotionally-engaging plot points throughout. It took a bit of a cheap emotional setup to get into the end game... but I'll allow it.

The characters, for the most part, were pretty good all around. The main lead couple weren't the complete focus of the show as the supporting side characters also received their fair share of development. While a lot of the signs pointed to him being the "bad guy", the male lead seemed to get really piled on episode after episode for being a bad husband. While certainly warranted, surely the writers could've thrown in a few more scenes that fleshed out some of the female lead's "past" as well.

It's always a pleasure and emotionally-satisfying to watch these type of shows; wishing to be 18 again, wishing to reunite with past lovers, or in this case--- a broken couple wishing to go back and hit the redo button at life.

Perhaps the best drama for you, if you like both the mature and cutesy side of romance

This is hands down the best drama I've ever watched. If you are like myself and watch a lot of romance, this is definitely something you should watch. But the reason I'm writing this review, is to tell you, why I liked this drama so much.

As we grow, there are certain things that we forget. Certain relationships, moments that we should cherish. This drama reminds you of all that. The moments with your family, with your partner, with your friends. The premise of the show is that there is an old couple that goes back in time to their youth. As a result there is a mix of the youthful romance that's seen in many romance dramas, as well as the mature side of the romance, where you need to struggle and make sacrifices, for each other, your parents and your child.

This drama portrays how misunderstandings can impact a person and so in the end it leaves you with the sense that you should try to empathise with other people, because you never know what they might be going through. Mix all of this with comedy, multiple bittersweet and sad moments, and you got yourself a drama that will leave you feeling nothing but good after you're done.
