This Is a drama I feel like I really wish I could scream but I have to tuck all my feelings in because there's nothing to do about it. Plus I was watching the end at like 12 am with another person in my room so I couldn't.SITR was my FIRST Drama.. ever!!! And I LOVED LOVED LOVED the beginning. The love Jun Hui was showing was great, her reaction was great and I just loved it so much.
Until I saw some COMMON repeats with this one. If you didn't know, Jin a makes a lot of mistakes.. not even mistakes after a while it's like she knows what she's doing and feels so obligated to it and acts like she doesn't care about the consequences anymore she keeps going -_-. I'm not even the only one who thinks this because Jun Hui himself stated he hated when she would keep doing things that would stress him, get her in trouble or get him in trouble and then say "Sorry" she'll do better next time... and do it again.
Truly they never worked out their problems or fights like ever and just let it going which is how got them at episode 16. They were growing depressed together. Jun Hui ALWAYS forgave jin a but the one time he is seriously mad, she blames him for trying to show his feelings on how he felt on something that hit home for him. Jin A made me so sick and I really wanted to fight her through the movie. She is as annoying as her mom.
At the end I really don't think they truly wanted to get back together. They just felt alone honestly. Their romance was better in the beginning and a little in the middle than it was in the last episode. It was more like "oh well you saw me naked so lets just get back together and be grown ups". The director showed us nothing with the other stories. They never show the resolution with her and her best friend, the harassment at the workplace, the mom, and somehow 3 months or 3 years (I forget) her brother gets married on the last episode and it was just so stupid. I honestly wish they didn't speak the whole last episode of her getting frustrated and pushing her hair back and Jun Hui looking out the window and her crying just to say for the last 4 minutes they'd be back together.
I honestly skipped through 14, 15 and just jumped to 16 to get it over with.. and I have NEVEER done that.
I recommend you watch the beginning to feel the romance but save yourself and just don't watch the rest from like... 11 wish 12ish.

A Slow Fall from Grace with Every Episode
Something in the Rain begins with promise—subtle cinematography, soft emotional tones, and the setup of a mature romance. But what could have been a thoughtful love story quickly turns into a frustrating and painfully repetitive experience. The biggest issue is the storytelling. The plot drags unnecessarily, with little to no real progression. Scenes repeat the same emotional beats again and again. Conflict is introduced but never meaningfully resolved. By the time the drama reaches the halfway mark, it feels like the story is just going in circles, testing the viewer’s patience rather than building toward anything.
The female lead is one of the most frustrating characters in recent drama history. No matter how much the male lead supports her, she constantly gives in to her overbearing mother. She goes on blind dates just to please her, makes decisions that betray her partner, and in the end, even returns to her ex-boyfriend—all to satisfy her family's expectations. It's exhausting to watch her deny her own happiness episode after episode.
The male lead, on the other hand, is written with depth, patience, and quiet strength. He gives his full support to the FL, only to be pushed away again and again. His loyalty is admirable, but it becomes painful to watch, especially when the story offers him no real growth or closure. After everything he endures, the ending just hands out a rushed reconciliation in the final five minutes, without any explanation or emotional weight. It’s as if none of the tension or heartbreak mattered.
The OST, while soothing at first, becomes a source of irritation. The same track plays again and again—sometimes multiple times within a single episode—making emotional scenes feel forced and overly dramatic. Instead of enhancing the mood, it drains it.
This drama could have explored societal pressure, family expectations, and emotional healing with maturity. Instead, it delivers a confusing, dragged-out relationship where one character does all the giving and the other never truly grows.
If you're looking for real romance development or emotional satisfaction, Something in the Rain is not it. It’s a drama that looks elegant on the outside but is hollow and repetitive within.

It’s great if you skip a few episodes
I took the advice of one reviewer and skipped episodes 10-15. I am glad I did because of how mad I was when 16 started. But at least I wasn’t depressed! And I really didn’t want to be sad after such a strong start. Man, were those first 7 episodes CAPTIVATING. I was blushing at the screen. Swoon-worthy? Like whoa! I didn’t even hate Stand By Your Man completely. But everyone is right, it heads straight to Dumpsterville after that. Just get through 9 and then fast forward to the last one. None of the minor plot lines are going to be resolved satisfactorily anyway, and you can easily figure out the broad strokes of what happened—why sit through five hours of Sads when life is short! Tune in for the typical kdrama ending: “it’s some number of years later, and it’s possible they will finally get to live happily ever after, if this blurry wide shot of silhouettes on a beach is any indication”. Still worth it to watch the first half, if only to see kdrama’s best boyfriend ever, Jung Hae-in, fall for a girl. And SYJ is great as flustered and cute, if cynical, hot noona. I could see myself rewatching some of the first episodes, because they are artful and make my heart flutter. Though for overall rewatchability, I’d recommend One Spring Night over this one.Was this review helpful to you?
bawling my eyes out over the considerate and gentle love that's going on here
I sincerely, genuinely find this k-drama so precious.First off, its attempt to convey realism was so well-done. At first, the sudden cuts and raw editing was something I thought would be one of the drama's weaker points, but turns out, it was made purposefully to appear as if the events are literally unfolding right before our eyes. The camera angles, framing, and even the way the scenes felt like real life, with all the dull moments and stuttering and you can even feel the awkwardness in the conversations, it's perfection. I understand not everyone would appreciate this kind of drama, though but personally, it was something I enjoyed and am fond of.
Son Ye-Jin and Jung Hae-In's acting were both so stellar. They showed such great expertise in this drama that I got goosebumps especially whenever they're having those heavy conversations. Even the supporting roles did such a great job in playing their parts. There were times when the actors don't talk and the story is told through their actions and I think it takes experience and a great skill set to be able to pull those off seamlessly, to which they were able to. Hands down to the cast choices (sidenote: they put Hae-In and Ha-Joon in one drama they may have just shot an arrow through my heart).
One thing I personally thought could have been better though is the ending. I was left wondering what really happened to the office case because it was just mentioned briefly but not really shown, and though I got a reasonable resolution with the parental relationship, I still wondered if what could have happened next.
Other than that, I loved even the dull moments in this drama. Sure, at some parts, I had to drag myself to sit through everything and not skip, but in the larger picture, for the purpose of 100% feels factor during the flashbacks, it was so worth it. I especially loved how the couple was so considerate of each other and even when they're having arguments, they don't resort to shouting and walking out, they really talked it out, no matter how uncomfortable, and tried their best to stay gentle in the span of the conversation. I think that was so precious and beautiful.

Beautiful but a bit boring
It started really good but I eventually started to lose interest. I don’t understand why Jina couldn’t have just gone to America with Jun Hui. Jung Hae In was so beautiful. The mum was so annoying. The episodes were very long and could have been shortened by removing or shortening the love montages that just go over clips from previous episodes.
The OST was very repetitive. I enjoyed it at times but other times it was like ‘this again, really?’
It was super super cute at the beginning but it’s a shame it starts to lose the magic.

One for the books!
This is one of the best kdramas I’ve watched. I can no longer count how many time I’ve watched this show. This just shows how great of a show this is.The chemistry between the main leads is superb. They have one of the best chemistries I’ve seen in kdrama (and I’ve seen A LOT of shows already). If you want a true to life romance, matured relationship, heart fluttering love, and a romance that will make you feel like you are part of them, this one is for you. Although a lot of people doesn’t like the 2nd half of the show, I believe that the show was able to portray the culture of having parents being overly intrusive into the personal relationships of their children (especially when it comes to marriage).
Overall, I recommend this show and I will never get tired rewatching it whenever I want a taste of fluffiness.

Horrible plot
The show starts off great, the first 10 episodes are well done and draw you in, but after that, it loses any sign of a plot. The conflict in the first 10 episodes focuses on Jinah’s stalker ex boyfriend, but after that, there’s no sign of him again despite there being no resolution. The following episodes focus on SA allegations against the men at Jinah’s job, but again, there is no resolution to that either. At some point in the last few episodes, Jinah and Joonhee break up, which in my opinion is one of the worst times to write in a breakup, but I trusted that there was a plan. Alas, the plot failed again and they did not get back together until the second half of the last episode.
Overall, I had high hopes for this show, but was severely disappointed by the lack of plot at the end. I would not recommend watching this.

I thought the writers did an excellent job of showing how relationships evolve and how they can fall apart when external forces play a role. Yes the behavior of the mother was exaggerated but that was needed in order to drive the story forward. You have to admit she makes a great villain, which most stories need to be entertaining.
The main character was not as well written as I would have liked, I am referring to how things in her life slowly began to overwhelm her to the point where she would do crazy things. If the writers had spend a little more time foreshadowing this aspect of her so the viewer had a better understanding of what she was going through then the story would have been perfect. But overall I really enjoyed the series.

I ENJOYED IT!
Another one I loved (just like One Spring Night, with Jung Hae-In). I became a fan of his after "Love Next Door"As always, I think these Dramas could be only 12 EP (not 16) so kind of draggy at times.
I don't rewatch Kdramas, so I always score low on that.
I simply loved this one and it's very similar to One Spring Night.
I really enjoyed the music too. Not often they have American songs on Kdramas.
Of course the happy ending always helps make a good drama!

Too long
The first few episodes were so good. The chemistry...swoon, the slow burn of them liking each other....swoon, the flirting and silliness; it was lovely. Even when they first got together, it was still nice and exciting and heartfluttering. Then people found out.
The brother over reacted, the sister overreacted. Their dads were the only normal people. And that mother....oh my god, I have never hated a character more in my life. As a mother I found her behaviour towards her daughter from the very beginning - even before she found out - absolutely abhorrent. I assume it shows the relationship in that culture as they are, but come on....the manipulation, the hitting and screaming at everyone, saying it was for her daughter but really she was a groundlessly elitist snob . I really hoped she'd fall off a cliff like a Disney villain, I haven't been so annoyed by a non violent non murderous character since Delores Umbridge in Harry Potter. And her insistance that she go back to that ridiculous ex who should have been put in jail but instead just seemed to cease to exist...absurd.
Sadly the leads' chemistry seemed to disappate after everyone found out too. The fact he hugged her like a child was consistency off putting.
On top of the vile woman was the needless involment of JunHui and GyeongSeong's father...added nothing.
The sexual harrasment at work side storyline...added nothing.
The amout of time that could have been saved by cutting down the 'walking around looking thoughful' scenes would have halved this series running time...no need...added nothing.
And the music....dear lord....anyone who has watched this show in its entirety will have heard those 3 songs more than anyone involved in the production, writng and singing of those songs. It was awful, repetitve and distracting. If I never hear a rendition of Stand by Your Man for the rest of my life, I'll be okay with that.
IMO JunHui, once they got together was a little too into her, and treated her like a delicate flower. I'm not one that is against protective men, I like that trope, but considering she was supposed to be 15 years older than him, he treated her like a child at times. And it took way too long for anyone to stand up to her bloody mother, not that it made a difference.
And how she just let him go despite an awful controlling mother and a shitty masogonist filled job was absolutely beyond me. 'I'm more mature now, I've grown up...' WHAT?!?! So act like a grown up and leave with the man you supposedly love!
I was also super confused and frustrated how she made out he was the one in the wrong for leaving. How was any of that his fault. He did everything he possibly could for her. She didn't even want to move in together, if I ever watched it again - which I really can't imagine I will - I'd watch it with an eye to see if she actually really did ever have feelings for him because her behaviour would imply she didn't. Certainly not as much as him.
And finally....how could she tell that mother of hers that none of it was her fault!!!
Jung Haein was the saving grace of this show and Junhui deserved better. She wasn't worth it.

ADDICTION
How does one move on after such drama? How does one move on after watching Joon Hee? Is he not a real character!!!!! I've watched him before but not as a main role. Now I can't move on! I don't know if I should watch another drama with him in it or just move on and look for a whole new drama. Like he left such an impression on me. His name, his smile, his acting, his tender heart, the way he loved her. Like everything about him left an impression. Those moments at the elevator were my favorite tooWas this review helpful to you?
