Maximal Escapism With Lethiferous Kisses -- Much Enjoyment! Not like the other J-Dramas!
My Bias Towards This Drama -I maybe looking at this J-drama with rose-colored glasses, because it's been a while since I watched this drama and at the time I watched it the drama had heavily appealed to my psychographic.
1. My psychographic heavily favors black comedies, supernatural (otherworldly whatnot), and the fact that the protagonist isn't some sort of boring paragon like some sort of Mary Sue or Gary Stu.
2. I love Yamazaki Kento in almost anything he's in -- he's Cary Grant good in my book.
3. The other cast members were good enough to have me wanting to search up what they were in too.
My Desire To Show People Some Show "This Show" that I Love -
I have trouble proselytizing this drama because when I advertise this drama to my brother (for example) saying it's a show where the male lead is sent back 7 days via death whenever the female lead kisses him. It causes the "oh that's wacky concept -- maybe later" reaction.

I love it so much
everything was so great. the story, the acting and the ost (sung by Masaki Suda)
you could really feel the great chemestry between the actors.
i already watched it twice XD
i'm sad that this drama is only 10 eoisodes long but while watching you feel like 1 episode is 3 episodes long. it never got boring watching it.
i'm happy i watched and really recommand it.

In this drama he looks soooo good. Also, he improved his acting so much.
I can say that I hate his character, he's a scum and it seems like he doesn't have an evolution. But he is Yamaazaki kento...how can I actually hate him? xD
The girl, in the beginning, was creepy af, but she's so cute!! And she's such a lucky girl!!! How many times did she kiss him???
The story.
At the begging I was thinking: 'Going back so shortly in time, can be pretty boring.' Actually it wasn't.
The story is interesting, original and I can even say it's dark. Since the suspense to the romance, everything was perfect. But I still have questions....
The end. I liked it, but I didn't feel happy at all.
The only bad things were:
- The camera work: There are few parts (normally the shock scenes) in which the camera moves laterally, and I just don't understand why they did that!!
- The music: The music is good, but in some parts, a stupid sound comes up and it is so bad.
One of the best Jdramas ever.

Again and again time reset made the drama little bored ,till 3rd time it is okay ,scenerio with the police officer is funny that he tried to explain police officer that someone going to kill me but police officer think him stupid . After that again time reset so this made drama little bored but in middle of the drama they brought little twist ,means showing true character of the characters of the drama so it balanced the drama . Concept of the story is good but direction is little bored . After 4th episode drama is good .but still I want happy ending for him at the end but as a character's character Had been shown that he was too greedy so I felt it was right he should punish for his wrong doings. Contrary to popular opinion, I actually like how it ended even though it ended as such. I was glad he made such sacrifice to make everybody else happy. That's love. Even though it will hurt him, he chose to let them live their lives.
The songs played by the 3-month guy was just awesome. I like all of them. I liked that he played "Hajimete No Chu" it reminds me of my Captain.
Over all this series is very enjoyable. It was not perfect but it was good.

I highly recommend this series. It's good, I can attest to that. After watching Todome No Kiss, watch Todome No Parallel to know the possible ending after the characters dies from kissing.

Main Lead Didn’t Work for Me
A drama that mixes romance, mystery, and time loop elements with a dark twist. I didn’t really care for Dojima Otaro. I found it difficult to care about his journey or decisions because it all driven by selfishness. A lot of his choices feel repetitive rather than evolving, I found myself more frustrated with how little he changes despite having a "redemption arc" which really didn't change my opinion of his character. What really stood out instead was Mackenyu as Namiki Takauji. Every scene he’s in has this strong presence that immediately pulls your attention. He brings intensity, charm, and a kind of effortless coolness that makes him far more interesting than the actual lead. It was especially fascinating to see how much Namiki Takauji’s outcome changes because of Dojima Otaro’s repeated time loop, and watching Namiki Takauji gradually turn into a villain was executed beautifully. His character arc actually feels like it has real emotional weight, because you can see how the repeated time loop decisions directly shape and damage him over time.
Compared to the main character, Namiki Takauji feels like the one who experiences real consequences. While Dojima Otaro resets and avoids lasting impact, Namiki Takauji is the one who seems to carry the emotional fallout of those changes, which makes his descent into villainy feel more tragic and believable. That contrast is what makes Mackenyu’s performance stand out even more, because he gives depth and nuance to a character who could’ve easily been one-dimensional.

Ending was predictable yet not…
The concept was so intriguing and I'm currently in my Kento Yamazaki phase so I had to watch. I ended up finishing this over the span of a few days.Todome no Kiss is my first jdrama, but its premise is one of the weirdest I've seen from an Asian show. The production value looks hella dated(this show is from 2018) and some parts are a bit cheesy but I'm not above cheese if the show pays off. I think this did. I will say the last two episodes were a little draggy and could've easily been reduced to one hour-and-a-half finale that ties up loose ends. This show is predictable yet unpredictable. Some things you see coming and some things you don't. I was pleasantly surprised at how this turned out. I love how a person that only cares about themself learns to value other people and ends up sacrificing their happiness for the chance that someone else will have it. Good stuff.
Now unto the characters. Kento Yamazaki as Otaro, though not impressive acting-wise, was entertaining and charismatic in the role. I either wanted to be seduced by him or hit him for being such an unapologetic scumbag. Also I have to gush a little about the man's visuals cause he's FINE ASF. This is the best he's ever looked. His redemption arc was great and felt very natural considering how hopelessly selfish and hedonistic he was throughout the show. Ngl towards the end I was kinda losing hope that he could be redeemed lol. Mikoto felt more like a plot device than an actual person. And why was she so aloof? Saiko was ok but she often came off stale and cartoonist. Mackenyu's character storyline was kinda interesting but he became annoying towards the end. The actor has intrigued me so I've added some of his projects to my PTW.
Def recommend this if you're new to jdramas or need something fun to watch in between serious shows.

Needed a bit more
The premise of this drama is super interesting but it was just missing something for me that made it not as exciting as it could've been.Despite quite a lot actually happening and the main character traveling to the past multiple times, it feels like not a lot is actually happening. I think we needed to feel higher stakes for the main character. While I actually really liked seeing a selfish and greedy main lead — there's a lot of potential for character growth — I felt like the ML wanting to become rich by marrying the "10 billion girl" was not really a strong enough plot motivator.
The character of the FL was also kind of thin. The childhood connection and contrast of the FL being selfless and kind-hearted is nothing new, but next to the ML it felt like we needed a character who was righteous but just as headstrong. Our FL was so quiet that I didn't really feel her presence in the show, especially after she was revealed to be so normal after her ominous introduction.
With that being said, I like the concept of the romance but I'm not sure if I actually bought into it emotionally. I wish we'd gotten more scenes of them just spending time together or, once again, just having higher stakes that would push them closer and give us a sense of desperation and trust.
I actually liked Takauji for this reason (not just because Mackenyu plays him, although that certainly helped) but also because the character added an intensity to the plot that we really needed. I wish the drama had taken it a step further by giving him the tools to travel back in time as well. It would've made the "race" between the protagonist and antagonist SO interesting and added some much needed competition.
Overall, I still quite enjoyed the plot. Though it was a little rushed at the end, the character development works and everything is wrapped up nicely.

It's more than okay.
What would you do with the power of a kiss that can bring you back in Time?Story/Acting: Kentos perfomance was amazing. He was not annoying or overacting and switched the emotions (of being a scum) just right.
The other cast did great too, the characters felt real.
His relationship with "Saiko" (the killing-kiss girl) was special. Although it wasn't explored that much and you did not get the cringy lovey dovey scenes, the connection between this two was very strong.
Music: The music is so great. The ost is "sayonara elegy by Masaki suda".
Ending: Fits the drama perfect.
Go and watch it <3

Yamazaki Kento shines so much as an anti-hero host! Great concept solidly acted!
I truly enjoyed the scenario of this drama which mixes time leap concepts with a host club as a starting point. I always liked "second chance" and "revenge on life" stories and I found it was done here in a particularly exciting and rather innovative way. There are unfortunately some loopholes inherent to that kind of supernatural element but it never really impacted my enjoyment of the series, except maybe in the last episode where I felt the solution chosen was a bit too abruptly put together and not very coherent. I was there for the emotional payoff but a bit more time for the resolution would have been appreciated.Yamazaki Kento did an incredible job as the anti-hero, a host without morale and caring only about money, using women as tools. He managed to make the evolution of his character really believable and had some incredibly well-executed emotional scenes. It is probably my favorite role of his so far. Mackenyu, who I discovered here and who plays the antagonist, was a really good counterpart in terms of acting skills. I was totally invested in his character's storyline: it was so painful and dark. Not sure if it is due to the writing or the actor's performance (or more likely the combination of both), but I found it super interesting. Kadowaki Mugi and Araki Yuko were also very good in their respective parts, even if their characters had seemingly less agency than the male roles, they evolved all through the show, becoming stronger in advocating for themselves.
I liked the overall production of the series. It was super efficient in conveying the various time leaps. At no point as a viewer I felt confused about where we were on the timeline, it was very simple to understand. I really appreciated the opening generic and the OST as well. Suda Masaki’s character singing, as a street musician, was such a highlight in the drama. I loved it.
I would recommend this to people looking for a drama that will take you on a journey alongside its (anti-)hero. It mixes genres well with supernatural, thriller and romance elements. The acting is very solid with some passionate and captivating moments. There are some loopholes and the ending would have benefited from more time but I honestly found the watch incredibly rewarding with a lot of emotional payoff.
