Noise (2017)

Set nearly a decade after the infamous Akihabara mass stabbing, it explores the scarred lives of three youths grappling with grief, loneliness, and rage. Masaki, a girl who lost her mother in the attack, clings to the fragile dream of becoming an idol in Akihabara, believing the stage might somehow lead her back to the light she’s lost. Elsewhere, Satoe, a high schooler estranged from her father, rebels against her broken home while searching for meaning amidst the wilderness of the neon-lit city. Then there’s Ken, a part-time delivery worker whose life begins to spiral into darkness under the weight of poverty and family collapse. Through these interwoven stories, it paints a haunting, lingering portrait of disillusioned youth in modern Japan, where past trauma still echoes violently through the present.
