One of the Best 2019 Dramas
This was such a lovely drama that deals with life and relationships in general. The OST is really good. The plot and writing is really great. It was very related to 20-somethings and adults trying to find their way through life and dealing with whatever hardships it throws at us. One can learn a lot from this drama and there are so many quote worthy lines here. This is a wholesome drama overall and it can also tug at your heartstrings. I love how this drama centers around women. The pacing of his drama is also just right. It's not too slow and not too fast either. Watch this, and you will go through a rollercoaster of emotions. Was this review helpful to you?

The drama of my life at 30 told in a timid way
Watching Be Melodramatic when it's not yet 30 years old is interesting, at the same time that you are afraid you are excited to know what kind of reality you will face at this age, especially the amorous ones, in which the drama brings being very happy in some and honestly very unhappy in others, so in this review I’d prefer to bring my view on each plot presented by this drama separately.Jim Joo & Beom Soo - The main couple in this drama is totally out of the ordinary, the dialogues between them were so complex that I came back to see if I understood correctly the feeling they wanted to convey and this was a bad experience by far, on the contrary , the way this couple has developed is incredible since standing still for an entire episode or even the fart fight that was just great (it's my favorite episode)
Yeo bin - At the beginning I found her plot delusional due to the death of her boyfriend, a bit boring and erased in relation to the others, but all of that started to change when she started to interact with So Min's desire to live and how So Min's relationship with Min Joo made her mature and face her grief, proving that she could be happy, it was the character that grew the most for me in the end her story became my favorite.
Han Joo - Initially it was the plot that caught my attention the most, I was glad they will address the difficulties of single Korean mothers ... good at first until they tried, but I felt that her character was so involved in the conflicts of Jae Hoon and Ha Yoon that his own story was in the background and its outcome has gone nowhere.
Hyo Bong - Speaking of nowhere, we arrived with the biggest mistake of the entire drama here. Be Melodramatic has sold and still sells this drama as an LGBT genre, but there is nothing about it. There is no development of Hyo Bong with her boyfriend or her story. They even gave evidence that he might have a story to develop, revealing that his parents do not accept him for being gay and chose to flee, in addition to the scene where he and her boyfriend were expelled from the restaurant. In my view the author did intend to develop this character and bring the theme to a great Korean drama, but in the process (as the drama itself brings back) they were prevented by JTBC from valuing this character, and clearly he gets lost totally in history.
In conclusion Be Melodramatic is a very entertaining drama with serious intentions, which were only in intention, tried to be bold in a shy way, and shyness made them miss the opportunity to be an excellent drama to be just entertainment Ok!

Detailed:
What did I just watch?! This was brilliant!
Three women living together in their thirties along with one of the ladies gay brother. Everyone has a story, sometimes the stories come together, sometimes they're quite heavily entwined, some times they're not. Whether it's one of the women who is facing severe grief following the loss of her partner, with moments that will likely have you reaching for the tissues, or another of the women and her hilarious relationship with her director, or the relationship one of them has with a co-worker.
Strong women, strong men. Great characters and brilliant performances by their actors.
The stories all go in different directions and the writer brilliantly crafts the tales to take those stories to places you probably didn't expect by the time they're done.
I really don't want to say too much and undo the writers fantastic work, you just have to watch it.
Very re-watchable too.

Captivating, quirky and Meta!
Melo Is My Nature/Be Melodramatic is a bundle of surprises. When I started watching, I didn’t expect that I would end up binging it. The first couple of episodes are a bit slow, with the introductions still happening and due to it being very different from the usual dramas you aren’t sure if you’ll love the characters and the story or not, but there are some scenes in the first few episodes that force you to continue. And after that, each episode is only better than the previous one. I was very impressed by the acting and the characters portrayal. Especially when heavy emotions had to be depicted. (Trigger warning: depression, homophobia, emotional and verbal abuse, loss of a loved one)When it comes to the second half, some dramas which start off well often fail to live up, but this show continued to exceed my expectations. With every passing episode, the characters continue to grow and so much was said in between pauses and silence. Once again, props to acting! So many emotions felt SO real and I often teared up. This is a beautiful drama that you’ll come back to repeatedly.
I’m slightly disappointed with the finale, because there were certain arcs that didn’t go my way, but the writers do a convincing defence on why it actually makes sense and though you might not agree entirely, you can see TID happening as well.
Another favourite of mine was how throughout the drama, it continued to break the fourth wall and parodied some of the lines and scenes from other well known dramas. And of course, the PPL was hilarious and so well done!
If you enjoy watching slice of life dramas or dramas with interesting characters and storyline, you cannot miss out on this. This is easily in my top ten dramas for now.

A Hilarious, Heartfelt Slice of Adulthood
What initially drew me to B-Melodramatic was its focus on three women in their 30s, past their 30s, around their 30s. That resonated deeply with me as I’m turning 30 this year. It’s rare to see a drama centered entirely on strong female leads, and that immediately caught my attention.Story & Themes
The best part about this drama is how all three protagonists share the spotlight at different times. None of them felt like a side character. Even supporting roles, like the actress, were given depth and growth, making me root for them. I love dramas with well-developed ensemble casts, and this one delivered exactly that.
In many ways, B-Melodramatic reminded me of Reply 1988, one of my all-time favorites, because of its deeply flawed yet incredibly human characters. It made me laugh and cry, but this time in a more metropolitan, women-centric setting. The drama beautifully explores themes of friendship, career struggles, grief, and the complexities of relationships, both romantic and platonic.
Characters & Performances
Jinju, the writer who drives the story forward, is the quintessential woman still waiting for her big break. I related to her deeply. At 30, I thought I’d have life figured out, but like her, I’m still finding my footing. Her family dynamic is fantastic. Her mother is hilarious, her father reassuring, and her sister seamlessly fits into the story without feeling forced. Her romance with the male lead is refreshingly adult, healthy, and filled with witty banter that makes their dynamic incredibly fun to watch.
Eun-jung’s storyline made me cry. The depiction of her grief is subtle yet powerful. She doesn’t openly express her sadness, but those around her can feel it. When she finally acknowledges her pain, it’s incredibly moving. Her journey, from documenting a woman’s story to forming an unexpected friendship and eventually meeting Director He, is heartwarming. I also appreciated how the drama left things open-ended, letting us engage in wishful thinking rather than providing fixed conclusions.
Han-joo, the single mother, is not the typical “strong single mom” stereotype. She’s kind, pretty, and innocent, yet not weak. Her work relationship with her younger colleague is one of my favorite dynamics. While I felt a tinge of sadness that they didn’t end up together, I appreciated the realistic approach the drama took. It’s rare to see a mature, platonic relationship between a man and a woman portrayed so naturally.
Even the side characters were outstanding. The chief manager, a strong yet kind boss (rare in K-dramas), the senior writer, the chief producer—every single one of them made an impact. Usually, you root for the leads or the second leads, but here, I found myself invested in even the seventh or tenth lead.
Comedy & Emotional Depth
The humor in B-Melodramatic is unique. The drama often sets up punchlines only to walk away from them in the most unexpected ways, making for some genuinely funny moments. At the same time, it doesn’t shy away from heavier emotions, striking a perfect balance between comedy and realism.
Pacing & Writing
Towards the later episodes, the pacing slows down, but that’s understandable. It’s a healing drama, a work-life slice-of-life rather than a plot-driven one. It doesn’t rely on dramatic conflicts but instead focuses on character growth and everyday struggles. The behind-the-scenes look at how dramas are made was another standout aspect, showing the stressful, nail-biting, and often painful process of production.
The writing is sharp, the dialogues well-crafted, and every plotline gets proper closure. There are no loose ends, which is always a plus.
Music & OST
This might be my favorite OST of all time. Every song fits the drama’s mood perfectly, but the standout is definitely the "Shampoo" song. At first, it seems silly, but eventually, it becomes an iconic theme that blends seamlessly with the show’s vibe. The soundtrack doesn’t just accompany the story; it elevates it.
Overall Impact
B-Melodramatic leaves you with a sense of warmth and reflection. It makes you think about your relationships with yourself and the people around you. It’s a slow burn, but it lingers in your heart long after it’s over. I hope that years from now, in a different phase of life, I return to this drama and relive these emotions all over again.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely, especially to those who appreciate character-driven stories, witty humor, and heartfelt emotions.

I did not become bored
I laughed a bunch but also cried with this story in various moments. The development of the story was very realistic, and I related to the story very strongly because I’m in my thirties and have the same sentiments around career development, relationships with parents, siblings, friendships and romances. I’m saving the OST to my playlist. The songs were lively. The casting was on point and I enjoyed getting to see each of them. Now I’m wondering why I haven’t seen this drama earlier. Give it a watch! Was this review helpful to you?
I like every character in this drama. I like it because this drama focuses on the power of women, with all the problems in life.
The character I like who has only been in the last few episodes is Director Hey!. He's weird but warm-hearted. I don't expect the character to have such a twist. I like him.
The ending of the story is also not forced, it flows as if it happened as it is. No romance is forced, which is why I really like this ending.
Overall, this drama is really good! Such an oasis in my hectic daily life.

Unexpectedly good and heartbreaking
First, amazing cast, the actresses are all so good in their roles and the way they’re portraying their characters is chef kiss. I wasn’t expecting this show to give me so many loud laughs and so many tears, it’s written beautifully, with sass and brains, it’s a smart comedy that reflects reality at the same time that honors its name. Life is melodramatic, but also so normal, it’s perfect in that sense. I didn’t want the ending it had but absolutely agree with it and think it fit the characters perfectly. Highly recommended. Was this review helpful to you?
This show must be seen by every adult at least once in their life.
This drama is absolutely wonderful. It's a personification of a warm cup of tea when it's beautifully cold and windy and thundery and raining outside, the feeling you get on Saturday night realising that tomorrow is a Sunday and that you get one more day to have fun, the feeling of finding a hidden 100 dollar bill randomly in your wardrobe, the uncontrollable bouts of laughter while sitting with a group of genuine friends, the feeling that you've just encountered the best sunset of your life till date. The charm of this show is also the unconventional style, with a story about a group of girlfriends that every girl wants to have. This trio truly cares about each other, and they show it in the most subtle yet overwhelming ways possible.
A simple sentence uttered by a character can open your eyes to the kind of person that character is, or tell you all about their story and make you understand them in an instance.
All the clever yet random yet in-your-face product placements were funny as hell, the songs were weird and funny and somehow fit the story well whenever they were used, the idiocy was cute instead of being annoying, the heartfelt moments between the group living together were cute, it was all SO AMAZING!
I fell in love with Jeon Yeo Been all over again. She had amazing chemistry with all her costars, and special mention to the director Son Seok Koo because he was DOWNRIGHT HILARIOUS and left a mark even in the short time he was in the show.
There are several more moments I can clearly recall in the show, that made me laugh out loud abruptly and made me interested in the show more and more.
EASY 10/10. I will MOST DEFINITELY be watching this show again in my life.

One of my all time favourites
Alright maybe I kind of put too much stars but come on!! You have to watch this one. As a big fan of slice of life dramas (even though I literally like all genres) this is one of the best ones. The stories of all three female leads are different and unique and the roles suit all of the cast members so well. When watching this drama I both laughed and cried out loud. This drama had such good comedy but it also had so much tragedy. This drama in my opinion portrays different type of goods and bads that people have in everyday life. Also all the couples in this drama are adorable especially Lee So Mins and Lee Min Joons relationship. So basically i recommend this drama to well.. everyone!

By the end of the 4th episode the quirky humor and an hilarious scene with a guitar had already won me over. As it evolves, the show becomes very meta, but in a fun clever way. The characters are flawed and a bunch of dorks, but they are utterly quirky and charming in their own different ways.
Kudos for the first gay character that I've seen depicted in kdrama as a real person and not defined by his gayness, it's a shame he doesn't get more scenes, but, hey, baby steps! Double kudos to the Show for remaining centered in the female leads and not presenting romance as the goal of the story!
