Orphaned Chim Ae is rescued by the monk Mu Bul Dang and raised at Seo San Temple, where he becomes a devoted priest. To test his discipline before inheriting the abbot’s mantle, the monk sends Myo Hyang, a beautiful woman, to tempt him. Though Chim Ae resists through fasting meditation, the monk senses hidden desire and forces him to confront his transgression, ultimately leading Chim Ae and Myo Hyang back to worldly life.
