What a funny yet talented cops!

I actually watched this in two parts (30-minutes and 80-minutes) but that didn't decrease the mood and the enjoyment that has been set by this movie at all. I still remember vividly what was the 1st 30-minutes about. That's one of the signs of how good this movie is. There's nothing new about the overall story, but I really appreciate the way this movie portrays the "unique" friendship between different teams in the same police department. I mean it's still rare (I think) because what I've always found in this kind of genre was the high tension, over-competitiveness, and hatred growing between teams in the same department or even in the whole police office like, "are all police an enemy in the blanket for each other or what??". And for the acting skills...THEY ALL NAILED IT AS I EXPECTED. I laughed a lot, smiled a lot, and also THRILLED A LOT. No bad actors could make me feel that way. Overall it's a really GOOD MOVIE. Not too much but not too less, just a perfect dose of seriousness and hilariousness "for me". I don't know why the rating is only 8.3 on MDL. After all, people have different tastes and I'm not one who enjoyed the too-serious type of movie, so this movie is just perfect for me. I really enjoyed it and will respectfully rewatch it.

This was such an entertaining movie to watch!!! I laughed so much everytime and Literally the last scene was the best! When Young Ho was tying up the bad guys with tape and there was a bad guy who had not be tapped down yet was slowly making his way to stab him, Youngho turned back and was like "Care to help?" and the bad guy immedietly dropped his knife and say "oh yeah..." and he sits next to Youngho as he waits his turn. Me explaining it does not sound funny but if you want it yourself you'll be laughing as much as I was This is so worth the watch and good review

Unique Plot

The movie truly shows how far hard work can get you, even if you work as a police officer or as a chicken restaurant employee. They used the situation they were in and made the best out of it. And it all makes it easier when you got your friends around you. Friendship can get you through most situations.

With its unique plot and a unique type of characters, Extreme Job leaves you wondering what you just watched. All of the actors fit their role so good, its a pleasure to watch. I liked how you don't really expect what to happen throughout the movie and just sit there laughing at the unreal coincidences. It was truly a funny movie to watch and it might be something I will rewatch one day.

Extreme Job is a movie that features a somewhat average plot, but turns it into a fantastic experience. I got into it with little to no expectations, but I was blown away by how amazing it was.

The story is pretty basic: we've got a group of cops who are trying their best to catch bad guys. However, there's the fried chicken twist and it keeps it all fresh. The action scenes are exciting, well shot and awesomely choreographed.

The soundtrack was enjoyable and funny, but it's nothing special. It added to the atmosphere quite a bit, though.

I was entertained throughout the entire ~2 hours of runtime. The pacing was excellent and the characters were all eccentric but real and lovable people. Honestly the best thing in this movie was the cast - I absolutely loved it, they totally owned the characters and this is what REALLY made this a great experience.

I haven't rewatched Extreme Job yet, but I'll be sure to. Recommended to everyone who's tired of crying their heart out at depressing movies - you'll be crying tears of laughter this time.

The hype surrounding the movie was what turned me off from watching it for a long time, but I must say that it delivers. The cast is fantastic, with the team of underdog detectives having some hilarious chemistry with each other. The villains and gangsters were equally well-played. The plot is interesting, but quickly delves into cop-comedy territory which we've all been in before, yet it is executed very nicely.

The highlight of the movie is the humor. It's not very over-the-top, or cringe-worthy. Although I had previously read a lot of criticism for the style of humor in this movie, I must say that I enjoyed it thoroughly. I remember laughing out loud at some of the jokes as well.

Music-wise, it was alright. I don't remember anything exceptional from it.

The movie was well-done. It's a fun watch, and you can definitely enjoy it if you're in the mood for something to make you laugh.

A MUST WATCH FILM, especially for those that enjoy comedy, action, and crime genres!

Overall - 10/10

I absolutely loved this film. There were many elements that captivated me. The story suited the cast exceptionally well, while the cast played out the story exceptionally well. The chemistry between the main characters was top notch. The depth of the plot and the nonchalance of the delivery was a refreshingly brilliant combination. This film is known to have done amazing in Korean box office but I still feel that it is very underrated. The film deserves way more recognition, especially on a global scale.

Story - 10/10

From the first scene on, I was already laughing. It truly stayed true to its comedy tag. It was absolutely hilarious. I would catch myself unable to stop myself from laughing many times throughout the film. Personally I'm not a fan of comedies, I often see that most times the plot and direction is sacrificed for the laughs. But not this, it had a clear plot, that was easy to understand. The writers didn't compromise the story for the laughs but rather used comedy to further emphasise the plot. Comedic elements came at exactly the right times, not allowing the film to lose its lightheartedness at any moment. It was easy to identify the reason as to why those characters were chose as a team and why they had great teamwork. There was no need for an elaborate back story to showcase the closeness of the main characters. There was never too much depth and never too little, there was just enough to get you hooked. The action was seamless. At no point did the action and the dark undertone of the film compromise its carefree ambience. The characters were all unique and dynamic.

Cast - 10/10

I watched this movie for Lee Ha Nee. You just know that she's going to go home with her characters. Lee Ha-Nee and a comedy tag? Speak no more, I'm in. As expected Ha-Nee will never not do amazing! I can't imagine any others playing these characters. The cast did a spectacular job in bringing their characters to life. The film was saturated with A-Listers and veterans. Every single role was played to perfection. The film was packed with some of my favourite actors: Lee Ha-Nee, Ryu Seung-Ryong, Gong Myung, Shin Ha-Kyun, and Oh Jung-Se.

Music - 9/10

I was simply too focused on the actions and lines of the characters that I didn't pay attention to the music and sound effects. Nothing stood out for me to remember or recall a memorable OST or instrumental element. However, there was also nothing that the film lacked either. The sound effects and music did its 's job emphasising action and shied away from stealing the limelight.

Rewatch Value - 9/10

The only reason the rewatch value was not a 10/10, was because I felt that the film was extremely memorable. The film made a long-lasting place for itself in my mind. I, personally, am not the type to rewatch content in general, even more so if the content is memorable and good. Although, I'd love to rewatch the film with friends so, that I can enjoy all the inevitable laughter with the company of others.

One of the funniest movies I've watched

I love comedies. Comedies is the genre I grew up with. In my country (Greece) we have many popular comedy series so I grew up watching them. As I grew older, I watched more movies and series and I can confidently say that Extreme Job is one of the funniest comedies I've watched so far.

The plot is not groundbreaking but it was so entertaining. A bunch of incompetent detectives who want to catch a criminal and prove their worth? Sign me in! I always find myself enjoying these type of stories of people who are desperate to prove their worth so I was obviously rooting for the team, no matter how many mistakes they would make. I went into this film pretty blindly so imagine my surprise when I saw that they bought a chicken restaurant in order to keep track on the criminal, Lee Moo bae.

The first half was mostly focused on the squad's attempts to open the restaurant and keep their cover as chicken restaurant owners. There were so many funny scenes and I admit that watching them cook these chickens made me salivate and crave some. They did a great job at making them look so delicious. The second half focused more on the criminals and how the squad tried to arrest them and it was equally exciting and funny to watch. Although the pacing became a little bit slower in the middle, the movie never lost my attention and I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

As someone who is immersed in the world of kdramas, I must say that sometimes, korean jokes do not land, at least to me. I might chuckle a little but usually, I do not find myself enjoying them that much. However, that wasn't the case with Extreme Job. I laughed so hard while watching this movie to the point my abs got hurt. If you do not feel like doing cardio, this is a great exercise. Of course there were some bits that weren't as funny as other but overal the humor was pretty clever and the jokes were well-thought. The actors did a great job elevating the comedic parts. This is a big pet peeve of mine when it comes to comedies: many actors came across as awkward because their actions and the way they act does not seem natural and convincing. In Extreme Job, every actor did a great job with their roles. Each one of the squad members had their distinquish traits and running gags and the actors owned them. On top of that, their chemistry was excellent and the timing of the humor was to-the-point.

I was familiar with Ryu Seung-Ryong from Low Life, Lee Honey from Aema, Jin Sun-Kyu from Through The Darkness and Aema and Shin Ha-Kyun from Beyond Evil and Evilive. I admit that the actors I looked forward to see the most were Shin Ha-Kyun, whom I loved in Beyond Evil and Sun-Kyu who delivered some excellent performancies in Through the Darkness and Aema, in which he portrayed two very different characters. But all actors did an excellent job as I already mentioned. Seung-Ryong matched perfectly with the tired yet fierce of Chief Go, Lee Honey was captivating yet hilarious as Detective Jang, Lee Dong-Hwi as Detective Young-Ho made me pity him so much for being the voice of reason and Gong-Myung was charming and yet so funny playing the rookie detective Jae-Hoon.

And as for Ha-Kyun, oh my God, I have no words. Aside from the fact I was always at risk of having a cardiac arrest because of his styling and aura, he was amazing as the villain. it's my first time watching him in this type of role and if any casting directors are reading this review by any chance, I beg you, cast him in more roles where he's unapologetically evil! He was charming yet dangerous, funny yet mischievous. He carried the character with confidence and charm and despite his limited screen time, he stole the show.

I really enjoyed the characterisation in this movie. I connected with the team very quickly and at times, I wished I could be part of their little family - for this is what they were. I appreciate that the writers showed their bond through various scenes, although they would bicker and disagree with each other about the methods they should use in order to catch Moo Bae, they clearly cared about each other and did their best to work as a whole. I especially adored how exasperated Chief Go was while he was trying to guide the members, he gave off the vibes of a tired dad (I mean, he was already a dad of a teenage girl but he had to watch over four overgrown children). The chemistry between Detective Jang and Detective Ma was also really funny, their love-hate dynamic did not feel forced at all and despite them fighting or arguing, they clearly matched each other freak, as was shown in some occasions.

Aside from the good humor, the movie also had great action scenes. The fight choreographies were thrilling to watch (Twelve, take some notes how to direct proper fight scenes), they weren't many of them at the first half but the final climax was more than a satisfying pay-off. I keep rewatching them, I can't get tired of them. I also appreciate that they made made the fighting sequences believable by having the main characters getting injured instead of being these almighty superheroes who cannot receive a single scratch.

The soundrack matched perfectly with the comedic yet intense tone of the film. It had many humorous tones yet it added more tension when the film required it. A nice detail i noticed was the parts that resembled chicken noises, kudos to the people involved!

My only complaint (which still doesn't undermine my experience) is that I would have liked it if the writers had explored more the feelings of the team regarding their treatment from their supperiors. Once they got the taste of money and success after the restaurant flourished, they seemed to finally feel content with being good at something and receiving appreciation for that. We especially saw that with the Chief who was finally able to provide for his family. I think the writers could have utilised this aspect some more, it would be a good opportunity to add more depth in the characters and the story. There was an attempt to create a more serious tone but we quickly went back to the comedy.

Nevertheless, I had such a great time watching Extreme Job, it's one of the films I'll go back to when I'm in need of a good laugh. I strongly recommend it to those who seek something light-hearted to watch and if you love comedies, you might love this one too!

quite funny!

I enjoyed this a lot, and i wouldnt have dropped 1 point but for the dragging ending. If you havent watched something entertaining lately, with good humour and action too - just watch this! It's really something i'm glad i found. Quite niche too i should say!
The ML has a powerful scene presence and he is so versatile that i didnt recognize him at all, though i saw all his other important work. Every character is so much on point! No unnecessary drama for most part...
Very enjoyable. .......................................

Fun movie

I enjoyed this movie. It's really fun to watch all the actors play "straight man" against the comedy. They each took turns being funny. Some camp, some slapstick, this was simply an enjoyable watch. I also liked, since the movie was from a few years ago, seeing the actors that I've enjoyed in other shows.

"오늘부터 퇴근 없다!"

서투르고 한심하고 어리석다.
I just can't stand all these poorly made dumb movies that make a fortune by involving big names and accessible concepts while small authors with better filmmaking skills don't get attention.

🔸️Separate scenes are hanging loose, and the acting and lines feel very forced. Lee Byeong Heon totally abandoned that thing called rhythm. He is one terrible director among many in the action thriller genre in Korea. I just despise that type of movies, including Master and the recent Alien. Imagine how would it flow if Edgar Wright shot it - because that's what cinematography is about!

I am damn revolted, and I hope I never make anything like this when it's my time to shoot a feature.

This movie deserves a higher rate!

An 8.4 rate is so low than what it deserves. Now I watched this movie because of the plot and the cast. I also like how the synopsis was worded because it does not spoil anything about the characters thus, I was surprised by their individual capabilities. Some may find this corny, or the jokes have already been used too many times before, but what I like about it is how the cast delivers those jokes that makes it funnier. Even though you already know the punchline you will still laugh out loud because of how the lines were given and the expression of the character who delivered it.
So for those who are looking for a movie that will make you laugh while watching and will make you smile remembering then this movie is that movie.

Great Food + Police Action Comedy

A kind internet stranger recommended this movie when I was looking for a good comedy for family movie night, describing it as "undercover cops buy out a chicken restaurant to get close to their surveillance target, but the recipe is so tasty they suddenly have way too many customers". The premise sounded hilarious, so I told my family we're watching this tonight, it will be a good action comedy.

It lived up to its promise and hit all the check marks - slap stick comedy, incredible situations, great oddball characters who all have ... special talents, tasty looking food and a few good villains. When we finished it we were happy and satisfied, which is what audiences want. I later found out from reading the comments on MDL that this was a very high grossing movie in South Korea and it's totally understandable why.
