Insane chemistry of the Couple and Bromance is fun and heartwarming

Actors:
This is my first drama starring Jung Ryeo Won - and her adorable interpretation of Sae-U and her chemistry with Junho was so much fun to watch. They brought us along their journey of growth, love and support of each other. Her character was written to be admired - a lady who has a mind of her own yet still retain her cheerfulness. Loyal and independent. And she’s beautiful!

Junho has serious acting chops. I always enjoy watching his acting. Not sure why he doesn’t get bigger roles since his range is so broad. He does underdog roles and romance well - something in his eyes and expression that’s so subtle and sincere.

The chemistry of the couple is so insane! They managed to portray such a believable process of finding love after failed marriages - and all predicated on building a friendship first. Their couple conversations were so honest and raw, the script played a big role in this.

You’d almost think they really cared for each other!

Characters and story:
I loved how they weaved the 3 main characters together, and in the process, addressed issues of social background, finding love beyond divorce and loyalty between friends. Overall very heartwarming.

It’s shortcoming is mainly the pace which got really slow and repetitive in the middle. Some scenes were too long too. I think it would have been great as a 12-16 episode series.

Fun factor:
I thought the series would be cheesy and passé from the title alone but, so glad I gave it a chance. Learnt a little about Chinese food preparation, tried to guess if they were using body doubles for the wok scenes or they were performed by the actors’ themselves (my guess - it’s the latter) and entertained by the romance, the family and the gangsters’ side stories.

Sharing my thoughts

I won't lie that I did skip alot of show parts that not related to mains romance, but I really loved the way of how mature the relationship explained here , I loved how they talk what they like and not to each other , I totally loved it , there were alot of heart catching moments and as romance lover I liked it alot
As character I hated her mom like fkn alot I hate characters like her alot so much !! As a part I really loved how he covered his extreme angerness with that kiss that what catch me first and made love him from that to end
Junho acting is on another level so loved , beautiful manly and professional much love for youuuuu

This drama was a really good watch, even if a the start can be really confusing and sometimes dumb in many scenes due to the strange actions of the cast, but everything has an explanation later.
I loved that they added Jang Hyuk in the cast, because is hilarious and made the show really lighter to watch, probably without him it was the same k-drama that ended up to be drooped by many.
The story doesn't involve a dark past or something, so many probably can't really like it. I also loved the wonderful Cha In Ha, before he sadly departed from this world last month, I can say that he made me watch this show with his stunning beauty and also he's gonna have a soft spot on my heart....

Must-watch for K-drama Newbies

I thought this would be long to watch but it didn't feel like it. It was actually enjoyable. I like that it was mostly on cooking even if the title screams romance. It just makes me sad how the second lead always gets bad luck and even at the ending, it was vague for him. He deserves better! I can't say I fully like this drama because the only one who never had a continuous character development is the mom of the female lead. That was frustrating to watch. She learned chores and suddenly at the end, they took back her learnings and made her bossy again. Weird.

While this is not a 5-star or 10-star drama, I think K-drama newbies (even enthusiasts) should be able to watch this one. It's pretty much a balanced drama: romance, comedy, cooking, family, the works! They should make dramas like this again.

Always here for Jun Ho ?

I kept avoiding this one, despite my deep admiration for LJH, mostly due to awful reviews on trusted tiktok review accts, but finally decided to do my own thing and give it a go because how awful could it really be, right? Turns out its not a bad sort at all and for the most part I really enjoyed this mash up of the usual kdrama fare with a strong hint of classic dramas everyone loves from the old days. Perhaps it was the chaotic band of thugs - or the down on his luck ML, it surprisingly feels like something from the early 2010s, not the end. The trio of leads were fantastic, and the friendship connection between them all truly was a gem to watch. I love the unselfish way we see the romance plot develop between the 2 leads, but was glad that it finally did move forward. There were lots of holes, which usually irk me, but my biggest gripe here was the overdone interfereing parent trope. I know there is deep respect for your elders in Korea, however I am really confused as to how 2 consenting adults, that have already lived outside of the home, married and dealt with the betrayal (abandonment/adultery) ended up divorced but then we see FL being controlled like shes 15 years old. Please writers just stop it. It’s stupid and makes no sense. The spin of “class” or someone not matching financial expectations is so ridiculous when you consider the rich fiance/spouse did the dirty on your daughter and disappeared without a care at her worst moment, yet the genuine loving (albeit a bit loud in the kitchen) and LOYAL boyfriend somehow doesn’t match the mark. Dumb and stupid, and she got annoying too fast.

The humor in the show was comedy gold, and carried it well.

Jun Ho as expected is a class actor, and played his role well. From the depths of the lowest his life could be he clawed his way back up and proved again why he deserves these kind of roles.

This was cute I thought! Three main leads, the first two are the male actors, Lee Jun Ho who played Seo Poong, and Jang Hyuk who played Doo Chil Sung and he was chilling for sure Followed by the third main lead actress Jung Ryeo Won who played Dan Sae Woo. Lee Jun Ho is just hilarious in this but I have to go back and watch the first few episodes because I failed to watch them. I was too busy working out.

Update: I did go back and watch the first 6 episodes and just as I thought I would love what I needed to see. I did give a higher rating. Thank you to all the team of Wok of Love.

Just Desserts

I was very pleasantly surprised by this off-the-wall Rom-Com drama, which was far better than I expected.
Loved the foodie bits, apart from references to Sharks Fin Soup, which should be illegal due to the cruelty involved and birds nest soup ~ also damaging if wild.
Sound acting from a good cast; I loved Jang Hyuk's portrayal of a likeable gangster-come-loan-shark. Jung Ryeo-won is perfect as the somewhat ditzy but feisty and quietly confident love interest. Lee Jun-ho was the most lovable combination of serious yet cute chef, whose smile completely changed his face.
I particularly like the fact that the relationship aspects to this drama are more grown up than usual. There are few clichés and the female characters in this are all quite strong and opinionated, rather than doe eyed and dull.
The evolving friendships, loyalty and just desserts make for a funny, touching and rewarding watch.

Bad storyline & Leads have zero chemistry

spoiler rant:

having started an affair with another man, a woman marries a long time friend she doesn't love, leaves him & aborts thier baby. That same guy is betrayed by selfish coworkers & looses his job & status because of his love & chef rivals. He decides he is in love with new woman because a fortune cookie tells him so. Problem is that a somewhat reformed gangster is also in love with the same woman. That woman's fiancé left her at the alter because her father is taken to jail. I dropped it 1/2 way through because it just doesn't work between leads. No chemistry, & you are rooting for the female lead to get together with the gangster. I can only imagine how it will end. the leads start out sympathetically but soon show themselves to be rather stupid, naïve & gluttons for punishment. Then it drags on with the mother interfering out of snobbery.Lastly the one guy you like (& who is worthy of the idiot girl he loves) sacrifices himself so that the 2 leads can have what they want.

Great Story with great food

I actually didn't see this series when it first aired, so I was very familiar with Jun Ho's work after this, as I started watching.
This looks like a silly series at the beginning, but it starts to transform into a great drama with excellent acting from episode 4 and beyond. That's about the time that the Jun Ho we are familiar with really kicks into gear with his acting. As usual, he does not disappoint with a superb performance. He's teamed up with several perfectly matched protagonists in the story. Ryeon Won & Hyuk really complete this drama and make for an extremely enjoyable show.
It's a classic story of a "David vs Goliath", a small restaurant trying to compete and surpass the monster & upscale fine dinning restaurant just across the street, but with several twists and turns in the story.
The hotel and restaurant CEO is made into a brilliant antagonist by Sa Kwon, making him the most hated person in this series ... not only stealing Poong's wife, but terminating him from his head chef position at the same time. Along with him are several other antagonists cooking in the restaurant, having us count the minutes until they all get the retribution they truly deserve.
I guess the only negative that kept coming up was the extremely annoying character of Sao Woo's mother, fighting the relationship between Poong & Sae Woo at every turn. It really became frustrating in later episodes to watch ... but once you can endure that, this does turn out to be a great series, lots of drama mixed with just the right ingredients of comedy and romance to make a perfect dish for serving.
SERVICE!!!

Good potential but fails to land.

Was really excited about this one because of the main leads, and while the story started very promising, I got too dragged and stretched as it progressed. Many plot lines were introduced which weren’t followed up on and the story kept moving in circles. Most of the characters were great, and I wish we had good subplots for them. The romance was super cute and the bromance even better. Jun Ho’s chemistry with anyone on screen is always sizzling. This was a refreshing drama with a fresh premise, and it’s disappointing that the middle and end didn’t land well. Not a bad drama, but not very good either. You might consider dropping it if you don’t already love the actors or don’t want to because you’ve invested too much time in it already.
