Surprisingly endearing with hits and misses

I found myself unable to not comment.

I started watching the drama with no expectations because the synopsis really didn’t reel me in. Only the actress choice of shin hyeson made me start the drama since i’ve so far loved everything with her. And i have to say watching. the drama greatly surprised me with all the feels and somewhat adorable back stories of the character, without necessarily feeling too heavy at the same time. I think hyesun’s acting made it all very bealievable and they nicely tied together the storylines.

But that’s where my critic also comes in, with the storylines that is. I can’t help but feel disappointed over the fact that the drama had this great potential of painting the picture of the importance of chances in this unpredictable life, something it originally i think tried to portray.

But rather of where there is black and white thinking of this person is completely at fault and the other isn’t i would have valued a more important lesson of sometimes accidents happen, some people end up getting hurt and the blame can’t always simply be placed in one single person. Even in as disastrous accident as the one in the drama. Maybe the driver with the tires had sloppily attached them to the vehicle, but also maybe the bus driver was momentarily blinded by the sun. Seori could have stepped out of the bus earlier but didn’t because of woojin, or maybe the friend had something to discuss and that’s how she ended up staying. It’s all about the chains of events in the end isn’t it, where maybe one person is more to blame than the other, but we have accept to go on and live with it in the end. This is just my rambling and you don’t need to agree in any way, just a thought i kept having with woojin and seori coming to face the past, then with the driver applogizing and lastly the truth behind the aunt and uncle.

An enjoyable watch even with the sort of lacking in depth (what was the uncle and aunt’s storyline honestly? Was accepting hyungtae back in seori’s life truly that difficult?). What I will mostly be missing is the lovely made family of woojin, seori, chan, jennifer and friends.

Slow Burn Wholesome Romance

This is such a great heartwarming and healing story. No cheesy and dragging romance at all. The characters in this story are wholesome and heal each other despite their hardships. Both Seo Ri and Woo Jin are stuck in the age of 17, one because she has no choice while the other one take it as a pain. However they go together and overcome it well. I love how the production team keeps attention to detail. For example when they let Seo Ri use the same clothes because it's the only clothes she has, or the chocolate pie that remains in Woo Jin's bag. Unfortunately the praise ends there. This is just "another wholesome show", nothing extraordinary.

On the positive side, this show is a huge showcase of the casts. The casting really fits their role, full of talents! Shin Hae Sun, Yang Se Jong, Ahn Hyo Seop, even Yoon Chan Young and Park Si Eun do an outstanding perfomance here. They have successfully sucked our spirit into a journey of emotion. Shin Hae Sun must have practiced violin for this role, hasn't she? Even in my opinion, this show is the peak performance for Ahn Hyo Seop so far (it's 2025 when I write this).

The pace of the show is extremely slow. I still able to feel the warm for so long like 10 episodes. But then comes the scene when Woo Jin prevents Seo Ri to perform at the festival with no reason. I mean after all the wholesome and tidy build up phase, yet they choose to pick a shortcut for a conflict? It's kinda frustrating because it takes the same energy to fight and explain everything he knows. This even pisses me more than when Woo Jin tries to run for the second time. While the romance pace is slow that it takes almost the whole show to bloom, the pace for the side stories are extremely fast. After Chan's competition, every good things seem to happen altogether coincidentally. It's never clear why Mi Hyun sold the house "in a hurry" while she never actually uses the money from it. She must also resents Seo Ri because she's the reason why her husband died, I don't understand why her son is close with Seo Ri. Also Chan saving Min Gyu doesn't bring any impact to the story, and the story about Ri An left hanging. There is a scene where Chan is rowing alone under the heavy rain, but his hair is dry.

The soundtracks are good in this show, both the real soundtracks and the classical pieces. This show is a good healing story to rewatch, but you have to bear the slow pace though.

Do Yourself a Favor & Push Play!

An aspiring violinist waking up from a 13 year coma. A troubled man bogged down by misplaced guilt. Can they find healing and embrace life as adults?

This is such a heartwarming show. Our Leads have such a beautiful bond that deepens to unbreakable levels. Without knowing it, they’re helping each other deal with the after effects of the same traumatic event. Through their love for one another, they find the strength to allow themselves to heal and move forward with the life they’ve been given.

Watching them choose each other day by day is so satisfying and brings forth all the feels in my heart. I know this is a super short review, but I don’t want to give too much away! This is a drama that’s best enjoyed when you go in blank and just let the drama itself fill in the pages 😉

Bonus: the SML’s friendship with the FL and family ties with the ML are so wonderfully written and portrayed. PSA to Writers: Love triangles don’t have to be toxic! Seeing his development and how he selflessly steps aside for the Leads to love without interference is totally swoon worthy. 💚

Oh I thought I would get something like 18 again but disappointed!

It started off well but then the story frustrated me so much that I watched it by fast forwarding a lot of scenes. Not so good of a story. Only cast I loved is the nephew Chan and the maid character. He was such a cutiepie and the maid had her own story line which was way more interesting than the main leads'. I am so done with kdramas forcing the childhood or high school connection into every story I watch.

A good healing emotional drama

This drama doesn't hold a strong plot. But a decent storyline helps you to watch it. The characters are good. And the plotline completely revolves around Shin Hye Sun (Woo Seo Ri) who wakes up after 17 years and finds her life completely changed. And our male lead yang Se Jong (Gong Woo Jin) is locked up his heart for 13 years. The plot has some happy moments and family moments. The emotional level is very low in this. This is a drawback of this drama. I as an intense emotional drama lover, fail to get satisfaction with the whole drama. But still, it's enjoyable. Why?? Because of Shin Hye Sun. (Mr. Queen & Angel's Last Mission)
What we can learn from this drama:-
1. Never blame yourself for too long. Because it will only harm you and your perception of life.
2. Know the importance of your family & well-wishers.
3. Sometimes in life, a particular incident completely changes your life but you should keep moving forward and always love yourself. Complement yourself that you have become strong from before.
OST is not that great. Felt the production lagging in here.

SOLID SHOW that you won't regret watching!

The concept of lovers being connected by some tragic event before they started dating, is at not unique, but it is for sure satisfying when done right.
1-First I have to say that I much prefer the past connection of the couple to be something that happened during their childhood and not something from 500 years ago. This show proves me correct, you do not see the character being affected by the flashbacks from past lives, but they actually live with the traumas, emotions that when they were together in the past, just make more sense.
2-Another thing plot wise they did very good, is having the love triangle(something that I always feel like most kdramas fail) is having the other love interest not be a serious love interest in the first place. It just makes the main couple that much warm and rich.
3-They acting is great! I already loved the main actress from other dramas and the main actor was very good too. Even secondary characters, like the maid was very entertaining and left a strong impression on me.

Overall, I think this show presents a story that is "surprising" but it amazingly crafted, making it a great watch that I don't think anyone would be disappointed.

I must say even after watching this for the second time Thirty But Seventeen still didn't fail to deliver. People will not only love the leads but all of the characters because everyone in this show is just so lovable and endearing. It felt like watching a family, we see them encourage one another, heal, and grow as a person. It was also as if we took part in witnessing their every progress and development. I really liked how this show was able to give all characters a unique personality and gave their individual stories a justice, unlike some dramas that build the characters lazily and utilizing them only to provide spotlight for the leads, this was well put and written.

I also like the chemistry of the leads and the acting of all the actors for this drama, is on the roof. Shin Hye Sun and Yang Se Jeong are like top stars who have received awards in their names and it shows. Everyone in this show are already veterans and have other several dramas already like: Lee Do Hyun, Jung Yoo Jin, and Yoon Sun Woo.

The pacing of this drama is also just right. I like how everything was just smooth sailing, without too much drama all the way until the end. Not having an annoying evil character was also a plus for me. The leads were already having a hard time as it is no it wasn't necessary anyway. The romance was also not too overly done, and I appreciate the scriptwriter for making it that way. At first I was wanting more romance from the leads but somehow I realized the way it was written was already perfect the way it is. The characters are cute the way they are since they are slowly growing, naturally the romance should also go by a slow pace. It also was nice how everyone got to face their problems and developed as a person in the end.

Overall, I highly recommend everyone who loves a slow paced spring-like dreamy drama, to give this one a try. We get to learn some things about life while watching this. It can cheer us up, in a tiring day of work, plus we can get some really good quotes to live by. So it is a 9.5/10 for me.

Do not miss this feel good drama

Its my first time writing a review...
Just started the drama without having much expectations and also for female lead
Want to say the ppl who are hesitating to watch, give it a try
I really really liked the drama and also the side characters who had their own story and pain
The male lead acting was so natural and his smile... Wow!!!
Its just worth watching. ..
Realised that few side characters now became the main leads in another dramas
We can also watch their teenage crush side that was so sweet
I cried whenever the main leads were crying
This was also my first drama where there was not much second lead syndrome though the other leads were gud character wise
All in all just watch it

Dont think. Feel!!!!!

A truly wonderful drama. It has the perfect balance of comedy and emotions and further proves my case that pre-2019 KDrama's are the gold standard.
So rare to watch a drama with so many green-flag characters with no toxic traits.
This is only my second Shin Hye Sun drama following Mr Queen, and she is so endearing and brilliantly plays the role of a 17-year-old who wakes up from coma 13 years later.
Yang Se Jong plays his role brilliantly and he deals with a trauma he's been carrying for so long. A very young Ahn Hyo Seop is the glue that holds the group together.
The supporting cast are great too.
There are some very minor plot holes and the OST is good but not amazing - although it fits perfectly to the story.
Thirty But Seventeen (or Still 17 as it's called on Netflix) is one of those gold standard dramas that you don't want to tend! Remember - don't think - feel! Go watch it now!

This is a very good Korean "Hallmark" type drama. Although the romance in this drama progressed slowly, both main and supporting characters did a great job bringing these characters to life. The leading couple, Shin Hye Sun as Woo Seo Ri and Yang Se Jong as Gong Woo Jin, embarks on a journey of healing through a heartwarming and steadfast love and wholehearted support for each other. The lead couple maintained a steady and "crescendo" chemistry throughout the drama (the younger actors did great, too). Enjoy it!

At first I drop this drama because of the tile, thought it was going to be some time traveling, to the future. But glad to take a second chance on this drama, The beginning of the story was a bit off, it’s either wrong subbing or just doesn’t make sense. From when they keep mentioning the year of the accident, And just how is a dog still alive for that long? But anyways This drama is really really nice, funny, and quiet sad watching Woo Seo being hospitalized, seeing her miss out all her youth year, and being abandoned was heartbreaking. And poor boy being traumatized for something it’s not his fault:(
I love the friendship and support that the characters have for one another. I find the pace of the drama went by pretty quick for me and great story line, I won’t say it’s the best but it’s a lighthearted comedy/romance, gotta love Woo Seo and Gong Woo cute funny scene. And have to say first drama I’ve seen so far where all the castings are amazing, as in no annoying/ bad guy besides the aunt who abandon Woo Seo but not to mention they are not likely in the drama anyways. What I do like about this drama to is that there’s a triangle love between Woo Seo, Gong Woo and his nephew but it’s not like every other drama where they will fight over the FL and that’s one thing I like about this drama because I hate watching triangle love drama that involves in family. I would recommend this drama for those people who hate watching triangle love, and not just like this as a drama but for people who love Shin Hae, her acting has always impress me, seeing her from Mr. Queen and this drama she definitely can play any roles not just as an funny role but she has a strong character trait when she plays it. Her acting just keep amazing me every time and watching Yang Se Jong reminded me so much of Go Kyung Pyo, they resemble so much.

The same drama in which you will be sad and happy at the same time.

My first viewing, like the second, was several years ago. But I will leave a review for this drama anyway.

The first time I watched it, I stopped watching for a while and then came back.
But it's worth watching to the end. Good ending.

I am glad that those who deserved happiness found their family and support. This kdrama shows both the past and the future at the same time and connects our characters, who lost their connection without meeting. After a large number of years, they will meet again and will no longer be the same ...or rather the main character. They will undergo a great test of their memory to regain and gain happiness. Writing about a happy ending, they got it like that.

In conclusion, if you like drama and comedy at the same time - then this is not a bad choice for you. The actors are also recognizable and emotional. The choice of whether to watch again is yours.

Have a nice viewing :)
