They Tried Too Hard

This drama is, as what Min-Ju keeps saying to Yong-Ju, "trying to hard". The romance comes in very late and instead, this drama mostly tells you about a business story, or maybe a life at work. I must had high patience because I keep watching it until finish, while I think some people will start dropping it since the build up phase are long and boring. Final two episodes are really the star of this series.

They develop a lot of conflicts during the first half, and still building another more up until episode 10! Thankfully they don't create a new conflict in the last episode. However as expected, some of the conflicts have rushed resolution, while some other disappear like dust. For example, the way Min-Ju reveals the blackmail news by making him turned from a hypersensitivity person into a mind reader which seems unrealistic. Also the idea of this drama focuses on each characters own struggles in their past. However they decide to develop more on the office problems. It pushes aside the story that we want to see clearly such as what happened after the death of Min-Ju's mother, why did he try to suicide, and why Yong-Ju gave him a camera. They should develop around those premises, so they can embrace these memories altogether with the one they love in the later stage.

Even this drama is directed by the sama person who direct Business Proposal, it is definitely incomparable. The romance comes in late, while the comedy is mostly came from the villagers, thanks to them. As much as I love Se-Jeong, I don't think they cast the leads correctly. For me, she has a cheerful persona that doesn't suit the character with such struggles as Chae Yong-Ju. Second Leads are a really sweet couple, yet they didn't even get a proper character build up. Their love stories are all outshined by all of the "office issues", which are not even related to the main idea of "emotional struggle".

To me, the story fails to focus on the main idea that should be. Rather than focusing on the idea of healing an emotional struggle itself, they develop too much story around the ML and FL (the office, the work, the village).

Surprised by A Zombie

I've never read the webtoon, but I was thrilled by the writing. The story seems lightweight from the start and it's executed insanely awesome. At first I thought this was going to be just zombies and some cheeky comedies, but they gave us a lot of heartwarming dad-daughter relationship moments instead. For this kind of story which could go wrong easily, this one is an impressive job. They successfully pour tears, joy and laugh into one package. Thanks to Jo Jung Suk for being a perfect father figure, he may be able to get another Baeksang for this. Also visual of the house in Eunbong-Ri is very calming,

The pace of the story is somewhat unusual, not wrong though. The story escallated extremely fast in the beginning, looks like it's going to peak already on the first 30 minutes. This made me questioning, what are they going to do for the rest one and half hour. So they bring us into an enjoyable roller coaster of emotion, going up and down near the peakline but never touch it. However this may has been like this already all the time, it's just the fact that I've never read the webtoon.

The More I Watched It, The More I Got Pissed Off

First and foremost, how the hell do you able to mess up such a beautiful idea like this? The idea for this drama is really good, but yet the writer decided to screw it up. To be honest, the first half is really good, with great addition of comedy. This drama should be ended in episode 12, even 8. The serial killer idea is really awful. Out of 9 million citizens of Seoul, why did the serial killer have to keep choosing Sol IN ALL OF THE TIMEFRAME like she is his nemesis? The serial killer in the third time travel already feels unecessary because Sol has dodged it in the second time travel, but maybe they need it because he kills Sun-Jae in the present. Yet the serial killer should not even show up in the present after the fourth time travel, because the timeframe have been changed! The third time travel is the worst. If Sol choose to avoid Sun-Jae from the beginning, then she may not survive the killer's first attack (he is the one who saves her). Those two premises are there just only to support the ending that the writer's intended, nothing more. This drama might be too long that they have to add ridiculous things such as the second watch, that one is horrendous! I understand that most K-Dramas has strong start and hollow ending, but I really don't expect this one became silly only after half of the season.

On the contrary, thanks to Hye Yoon, Woo Seok and Geon Hee who plays their characters excellently, they literally carry this drama. Overall, this drama is still enjoyable since it brings a lot of morale of the story, but you may get frustrated with the storyline after watching halfway.

EDIT: After watching several more shows, I noticed that this show has a good example of how a last episode should be.

There is a rollercoaster in this show. The first four episodes have somewhat too serious, and may lead you into a question "Is there really any comedy?". Then it becomes funnier and more comical. However it turns more serious and emotional again in the last two episodes. The show has different cases every week, which I always like. You may compare this to Taxi Driver, and find it has weaker storyline on some cases since they mix it up with comedy and slight romance. This show has a really good cast. The trio Jung Kyung Ho, Seol In Ah and Cha Hak Yeon deliver their respective character excellently. Additionally Moon So Ri really kills it. Most of the cases in this show highlight the working environment harrassment awareness that you may be able to relate. However the way it's delivered slightly bothering me.

Since it contains several different cases each week, it is possible to explore them separately. All of the cases have a good build up and backstory, but the writer repeatedly bottles the resolution phase. The first case about the construction worker, the resolution is somewhat too easy. Earlier, the workers are afraid of losing their job if they help to uncover the case, but then they have sudden change of heart. Second case at the hospital, again the resolution is dull. The guilty doctor regrets his action, but looks like he is able to get away from further punishments. No one even blows up his name to the public. Third case about the university has better resolution, but it annoys me for such a certified attorney thay he doesn't seem to have a good preparation or strategy while confronting with the opposition. They look clueless when the opposition threaten them, when they are taken into custody, which doesn't look like a professional attorney at all. I also think that this show is somewhat beyond tolerable makjang limit. Ability to see a ghost is unrealistic, but it's fine; Being ressurected multiple times is unrealistic, but it's fine, but all the people able to survive the building debris in the last episode (the first collapse, not the fall)? Whoa, that has crossed the limit

After all, it keeps bothering why they never check back each client's aftermath. There must be some impacts there. For example Nimal from the first case is afraid of getting deported if he speaks up. So what happens next? Is he okay? Because if not, then everything they have done is pointless! Mu Jin's wife is a self-absorbed person and really mean, not only to him but also to her sister. I don't understand why everyone is telling him to get back to her.

To me, the comedy in the first 4 episodes is somewhat a bit forced. Everything begins to flow correctly after the third case. It's still a good-to-watch show when you are looking for a laugh, or a show to raise worker's safety awareness.

Shallow Plotline with Quick Pace

Yet another rom com plunged into a pit of downfall. Truthfully, the story of this show ain't really deep and promising from the start. But as things go on, the writer seems to do quite a good job for putting together a Genie and a psychopath. Things are looking better until the story about Khalid kicks in. This part of story is unnecessary, unimpactful and really destroys everything that have been built, especially the storyline about two previous wishes from Ka Young. Everything becomes too makjang-ish, even for a fantasy genre show. The war between Iblis and Elljael is questionable, they fought for years but somehow Iblis able to end it quite easily. The pace of the show is really quick, borderline between enjoyable and confusing. It's not easy to understand a psychopath like Ki Ka Young, but for me it's more difficult to understand how can Ka Young fall for Iblis out of nowhere though she mostly has no emotion.

The visual effect of this show gives an eyesore. It's really awful and I think for a 2025 show, they should've tried harder. On the other hand, the soundtrack is quite great.

The performance of the casts is quite alright, nothing bad but nothing too special. The chemistry between Suzy and Woo Bin is also good. In my opinion, the one who does an impressive job here is Ahn Eun Jin.

Watch this show if you're looking for a quick adventure and when you don't really need to explore some "details".

Roller Coaster, but It is A Hell of A Ride

Idea is totally fresh and execution is great. They put everything in place excellently, and this is the outcome. The storyline is almost perfect. This is the type of series where audience will easily forgive any makjangs and yet the writer took advantage on that nicely. The conflicts are over the places in the beginning, but it's needed and they resolve it quite well. Still I wonder how is Bit-Na's debt going lol. Character development for romance is a bit slow, but who cares? This is not mainly a romance and, who the hell will easily trust a Demon?!?

The thing that I want to highlight the most in this drama is the characters itself. Usually when it comes to have a demon as the main character, K-Dramas tend to mix it up with some dumb and irrational brain. However they made all of the demons (except Man-Do) to be as how demons should be. As a demon, Kang Bit-Na is really smart, ruthless, powerful and unstoppable. This depicts correctly about how she have truly lived for more than 500 years in the hell. Park Shin-Hye is definitely the star of this show, she brings the energy into it. The character of Man-Do is hilarious and sparks joy around the shows.

Unlike most K-Dramas, this series ends quite strong. Although it is quite a plothole (you get 3 years, but you choose to spend 2 years in an "exile" rather with someone you love???), but it is still a quite well, and not disappointing ending. In fact, they actually keep the story quality pretty consistent throughout the season. They have also prepared for next season, but I feel that they have to be careful as there isn't much more to explore.

High Potential Turns into Tropes Showcase

Another HIGH POTENTIAL show goes south. The promotional summary and the first two episodes are really convincing. The plot about two strangers work together to "keep" a house seems pretty promising. However, apart from the comedy, all things are going wrong here. It looks like the writer is trying to fit cliche tropes as much as possible into this show. Childhood connection, malicious betrayal, White Truck of Doom, triangle — I mean square love, family rejections, unecessary breakup, they somehow put it all together. Instead of focusing on how they keep fooling their neighbours and people around them with their scam (which I think will be more interesting and chaotic), they developed another cliche stories which are boring because they're reused.

There are a lot of unecessary things here: the childhood connection is totally unecessary, it is still very possible for them to fall in love naturally. Jin Gyeong malicious confession to U Ju and Me Ri is also unecessary, especially when she regrets it instantly. Is this confession coming just so U Ju and Me Ri can fight and amend? The story about the slush fund is too complicated. For me how they work together on the scam and Me Ri's problem with her ex is more than enough. Anything beyond should just be side stories.

More than half of the show has shown it's going the wrong direction. It's likely too late to take a sudden u turn, it requires something big (usually they pull a shocking makjang to do it instead). Watch it only if you're up for a fluffy comedy.

A Journey Worth to Ride

It is an amazing story. The build up is slow, but that is life! It is not even a build up, it is a journey of pain, struggle, sorrow, failure, joy, smile, success, everything you have got through that makes you who you are today. It tells us to share our journey with the people around us who loves us, people who we can lean on, people who are willing to hit the rock bottom together with us, and rise back to the peak. It also shows that love is not always about happiness. Sometimes you have to squeeze you blood, sweat and tears to love!

The conflicts in the beginning are really complex and a lot. However, the writer's put everything in mostly correct place. The struggle of each characters: Seok-Ryu's, Seung-Hyo's and even each of the family members are highlighted well. And it really depicts the struggles of a normal person, normal family in real life. They cried for help, they helped each other to solve their problems, and once again, that's life!

For all the comments saying that the romance is dull, I think it's not. It just a different form of romance that they were on. For someone who had known and lived next to each other more than 30 years, I think you can't expect them to have a passionate affection as in other romance dramas. Still, I love how Seok-Ryu could compare everything she has in mind with foods!

On the contrary, I don't really like the character build up of Kang Dan-Ho. He does not seem to have a consistent characteristics. One day he would be very kind and affectionate, the next day he became reluctant and mean and on the other day he became passionate again towards Mo-Eum without any valid and strong reason. I mean people can change, but for someone who had a personal experience, it was too easy for him just to change his mind like that.

The storyline near the end of the series are a bit thin and slow, compared to the complexity at the beginning. I think the storyline was intended for 15 episodes. However they were forced to make it into 16. Also I feel like the writer failed to explore some chance to be developed. I was looking forward to see the result of the school gym renovation. As that place meant a lot to the journey of Seung-Hyo and Seok-Ryu, I was hoping they will create a new moment together there, but nothing happened. Same thing happened to Seung-Hyo's time capsule letter. He picked it up from the trash only to be forgotten! As for the soundtrack, they didn't highlight it well. They should put it more in the important scenes so that it can be more memorable.

For someone with younger age, I think this drama may be boring. But for the older group, a lot of the scene in this drama may relate to your real life. Overall I would REALLY recommend this drama, but for you may have to consider if you want to rewatch, unless you want to feel the pain again, lol.

An action comedy movie about five (six) people suddenly get a superpower after getting an organ transplant. One person is trying to acquire all of the superpowers while the others are trying to stop him, seems like a classic superhero storyline. The story is mixed between action and comedy, but somehow this create a confusing situation whether this movie is tend to be realistic or silly-ish. For an almost two hours long movie, the storyline is quite shallow. Some of the decisions made by the characters are bizzare and come out of nowhere.

The CGI is so bad, intentional or not. Even if it's intentional, their original intention may not worked. Good thing to take is the main character's performance. They all have done an excellent job, especially Lee Jae In. On the other hand, the villain(s) don't bring enough evil aura though.

No Drama, Just Thriller (with Makjang Ending)

The overall storyline is good. The pace of the story is quite fast, you can enjoy it since the very first episode. The pace picked up a bit after the phone stops ringing, but you may not notice it since it does not have much difference. You will enjoy more thriller in this show. At first I thought we will get a lot of heartbreaks since Sa-Eon statement about "Call me when there is corpse". I was wrong then. The romance is pretty straightforward, no need any painful flavor of faded or unexpressed love (at least until last episode). The thriller itself does a great job, since I saw a lot of theories appeared prior the airing of each episodes. The return of In-A successfully misleads a lot of audience, since she becomes the first person to side with the main leads. Both lead actors have a quite exceptional performance in this show. Soo-Bin does an excellent job potraying a fragile and vulnerable Hui-Ju, while Yeon-Seok potrays a stiff and strict bureaucrat who doesn't know anything about love and how to love.

Good storyline does not mean it is flawless. Na Yu-Ri does not get a good purpose for second lead, only to complete a second lead love puzzle. On the other hand, it is a bit weird that Sa-Eon keeps allowing Hui-Ju to use the burner phone, even after knowing that it is her behind the blackmails. Sa-Eon is a government negotiatior after all, he must have experience dealing with some threats against the country. However, he somehow fails to notice that the phone maybe hacked or tracked (which is logically, highly possible). On the other hand, I also feel that the killer does not have a really good motive to carry out all of his actions. When Sa-Eon confronts him regarding what he wants, he does not have a clear answer but "I want you to feel the same pain". This makes the killer sounds like a maniac psychopath. However if he is really a psychopath, why it takes so long for him to do this? I get it that he has tried to threaten Sa-Eon earlier, but why suddenly his threats become more successful (even off Do-Jae's plan)? Also the severity of threats those are addressed directly to Hui-Ju is somewhat more dangerous than his threats against his "other enemies", which makes him looks like just crazy about Hui-Ju. There are a lot of bloopers too (shoes, clothes altered, etc). But the biggest one is during the crash scene, Il-Gyeong arrives with her wife and In-A in a car. How is this possible because her wife doesn't follow him to the Memorial Park? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW SA-EON SURVIVES THE SHOT! IT IS A DAMN SHOTGUN FIRED FROM A VERY CLOSE RANGE!!! The last two episodes look like a spectacular show from the main leads with extreme pace and a bit confusing timeline, and more likely just a fanservice. To me, the last two episodes are total chaos.

I learned from Tiktok that this show reproduces a lot of scenes from Queen of Tears. I was on Episode 6 when I know it, and I did not notice it initially. As I was progressing throughout the new episodes, I began to see it, and I feel they take too much similar scenes (Sa-Eon searching for Hee-Ju in the woods, car chase scene with Sang-U, Sa-Eon first lines when he wakes up at the hospital, and some other scenes that I may have forgotten). This drama also makes QoT ending doesn't look very bad. Unfortunately, they don't mimic the strategy of soundtrack placement from QoT.

I still recommend this show. It has an enjoyable thriller, with additional sufficient romance. Yes the story quality has dropped a bit after Episode 10, maybe they actually deserve more episodes to explain everything. But hey, at least there isn't any super-uneccessary conflicts towards the end of the show. I would like to give a solid 9 previously, but the messed up final two episodes and excessive number of bloopers make me rethink about it.

Action, Comedy, Romance and Horrror (?) Altogether

Another good show about spy, and the better thing is they put action, comedy and romance altogether in one plate. Overally, it works quite amazing, even though at some points it becomes too much. The storyline is quite great. The first episode is boring but it turns better afterwards... until at least episode 9. For me it is going downfall after Myeong-Ju released from the prison, more makjangs come up from there. While we are looking at a quite realistic bullying case at the beginning, the premises near the end of the show seem too impossible to believe (but sadly it's all predictable). Like suddenly Su-A mother is a gangster?? The premises are quite complicated while the number of episodes is short, resulting in a fast pace and sometimes plain resolution of conflitcs. There is slight romance, but not minimum. Moreover, we get more comedy than romance, to the point that it's unnecessary at some events. However, the comedy keeps this show lightweight instead of having a complicated spy drama.

The acting from the casts are good, or even carrying the show. Seo Kang-Joon does an excellent job to celebrate his comeback to the television, and he gets a great support from Jin Ki-Joo. But the star of this show for me is Kim Shin-Rok as the pyscho-narcisstic villain. So far, she surely could be villain of the year. Jo Bok-Rae is doing a pretty good job, but I feel sometimes he put incorrect expression that doesn't match with the situation at that time.

Again, the childhood connection part annoys me a lot, but thankfully it doesn't really unecessary here. Because that's probably the only 'quick' way to bring up the feelings between the main characters. Another annoying part is this intelligence team doesn't seem very intelligent. They don't look very prepared while carrying out their mission. They rarely check for someone tailing them. Also they only care for the surveillance cameras during the Byeongmunities event, and forgets that surveillance cameras also exist at the school. Then during the final episode, it takes like 7 business days for the team to catch up with Hae-Seong in the school stand-off incident. Lastly, the writer also forgot to clarify why the school guard has the notebook.

In conclusion, this is a drama with a good balance of action, comedy, romance and horror(?). I can even recommend this drama for a rewatch.

Feels Like Watching The Wrong Show

Let me summarize, this show is more like a western action show. The problem is, the reason I watch K-Dramas is because I'm sick of them. The plot is half-baked. Build up phase is really good, but the resolutions are all awful. Too much politics involvement and trivial things in the plot. Everyone is betraying everyone, but at the end of the day the resolution is morelike emotional and family matters. Yes, the main goals for the villian is to rule the world. Sounds more like Marvel or James Bond villains.

The good thing in this show is of course Jun Ji Hyun. Her return is quite remarkable, although it's far from spectacular. On the other hand, the casting on this show is very questionable. Lee Mi Sook is lack of expression. And for someone who acquaintances "multiple lady of the world leader", her English is pretty awful.

It annoys me a lot that they decided to make this as an action show and ignore the details. However, first thing first then. WHY DO THEY HAVE TO KISS IN CRUCIAL SITUATIONS? LIKE YOU'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BATTLEFIELD AND YOU CHOOSE TO... KISS??? Also about the "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Code", doesn't it mean the US is going to start a war? However after Mun Ju and San Ho hear the song, they are being ambushed, hiding and planning to strike back, yet nothing happens related to the war. The ambush at the port is beyond tolerable makjang limits. The special force doesn't seem so "special". It just takes one smoke grenades to turn all the personnel into a bus stop passenger's queue; they really have zero awareness and clueless like WTF. The final ambush is of course a makjang. How come Mun Ju easily find her mother's room and telephone when it's her first time in that boat? I feel like all the internal family problems just exist to shortcut the process to resolution. Kang Han Na knows that Ok Seon is Stella Young (she is the one who tells about the deposit box without name) and she kills Jun Ik, but instead she insists to take revenge on Mun Ju. Hwa Rim resents Mun Ju a lot, now her daughter-in-law turns into an evil person, where does she go? Also what happens to Jun Sang after the boat incident? More importantly, there isn't any clear backstory between Mun Ju and Jun Ik, how they end up together and why Jun Ik's family are against it initially.

Watch this if you are searching for actions, and to see that you can kiss under tense situations.

They're Serving Us Lawyer's Mukbang Show

I don't know but I feel something's off with this show. Normally calming shows like this have something emotionally hooking to keep the audience interested, but apart from the final two episodes this show feels so empty. The show was promoted as calm and heartwarming series. However when I went through the first episode the first cases are really dark. Luckily, the cases are all resolved safe and sound. The problem is, the writer does this pattern repeatedly until we fed up, no matter how easy or difficult, big or small, malicious or petty the cases are. It looks like the writer is trying to put cases as many as possible so they can bring a lot of "life messages". But as they slip away quickly, the audience may not be able to be emotionally attached to the case before they decide to close the case and bring the other one. I even think more effort shown on screen on the Watch Theft case compared to Hui Ji father's case. Also on the Student Attempted Murder case, Chang Won is a bit distrubed when defending an opposing party on a similar case, but they never show how he overcomes it.

Lunch and dinner maybe the two key events in this show. Somehow I can't find this "friendship" to be categorized as healthy. Apart from Ju Hyeong and Hui Ji, they rarely share any personal thought and burden between them. Their responses when Mun Jeong says her boss rejected her maternal leave request aren't convincing either. I thought after Ju Hyeong reveals his story of taking a case against his ex, everything will be better. Everyone begins to help each other, even on Hui Ji's father case, but I was wrong. Sang Gi hides his desire to enroll in a PhD program, Chang Won hides the pressure coming from his father. To me, they just look like lunch partners, not friends. The writer should highlight the original reason about how they end up together because they aren't coming from the same company and they don't seem really close enough.

The story about Kim Hyeung Min also remains unclear. It doesn't show about her backstory apart from she failed to become a lawyer, especially why does she has a lot of enemies? Alos the love line in this story comes up pretty early. But personally, I think it has been brought up too often for a slow show like this. To make it worse, this plot is probably the best part of the show.

Looks like the main leads are carrying hard this show. Lee Jong Suk plays a logic-oriented attorney, Mun Ka Young plays a more opposite trait, emotional-oriented attorney. They both play their character excellently, and their romance serves well. Kang You Seok has been really busy this year, but it is still a waste of talent because his character isn't very special.

This show has a weird pace, quick on the case but slow on everything else. Yes the final two episodes are excellent, but the path to it doesn't seem encouraging enough. I don't think it's worth for rewatch given the story is calming but feels hollow.

I don't have much comment on this. This show is very lightweight, even when the genre is crime. There are multiple cases in this show, and they able to handle them with comedy and lightweight plot. Forget about realism because nothing is realistic here. The comedy seems a bit forced at the beginning, but it becomes better and hilarious as the story progressing. Characters and casts are all also good.

It annoys me a bit that each of the case has to relate with some of the officer personally, like there are too much personal emotions involved. The reason why Jang Tan Sik wants to be a cop remains unclear. Also the reason why Sim Hyeon U kills Jae In seems weak.

I am disappointed that Mu Jung Ryeok doesn't become the Captain at the end, so it's better to have a sequel for this!

What an underrated action drama! This show is a mix of action, mystery and comedy. The idea is really great, about a chaebol son who accidentally has to become a cop. He later annoyingly uses all the power, influence and money he have to help him solving cases. It has several interesting cases, and involves corruption and collution as well. The overall storyline is really engaging, and the casts carry them out well. Character development is really great. Jin I Su turns from a chaebol son that feel worthless into a good police officer.

Unfortunately, I don't really like a show that contains several cases but has one personal case. Why? Because that case usually involve excessive impossibility. Usually this case looks extremely complicated and unsolvable, and the culprits are extremely powerful while victims involved are extremely vulnerable. Because of this premises, the resolution usually involves excessive level of makjangs. This doesn't really shown in this show though, but it's still there. The sleeping pills from 25 years ago somehow looks new and not decomposed (the pills, not the bottle). Also to kill someone due sleeping pills overdose, it requires a lot of pills. However with such short available timespan, Seung Ju is able to put a lot of sleeping pills into his father's drink. If he is in such hurry, there is a large possibility of the powder or the pill's shatter to be found around the glass.

I really recommend this show! There isn't any romance here though.
I hear they are making a second season without Park Ji Hyun. They MUST have a good closure to connect this two seasons then.
