One big betrayal and one hundred others

I haven't seen such a series for a long time. It's simply all-in-one. I think, there is no story element, you could not find here. The most annoying fact is the length of the drama. 58 episodes are not necessary. There are at least 10 episodes, which just drag the whole series.

The start is pretty great! You'd be basically pulled by the story. First 15 episodes are about the development of the relationship between leads characters. Despite the fact, they barely touch each other, which I must highly criticise, just because it's natural and it makes that story more alive. After separation of the main couple, there is a quite barren part, till the big twist coming.

What I have to appraise is the cast, FL is likeable. Her character is strong, smart and calm. She is even capable of martial arts, what I like the most. And probably the most important thing is her voice, which is very pleasant compare to other Chinese actresses. I do not know, why Chinese women have such pitchy voices. She looks terrific with that white hair. Based on the title, I've expected she will remain with that hair till the end.
ML is great, his character is basically an honourable man. The tag "Second Lead Syndrom" is totally misleading in this drama. I've hated the second ML almost entire series.

What I did not like, it's the over combined storyline. Why this must be like some "all you can eat party"? I've found myself shouting at the screen while I've been pulling my hair about that stupidity of the plot sometimes.

So in conclusion, you should be prepared for every shitty situation and keep an eye peeled.

Princess Silver does bring you the feeling of female empowerment. All the female characters are terrific. They are kind, strong, hardworking and loyal. On the other hand, the male characters are mostly annoying which becomes a bit of a drawback for this whole drama. They get better along the storyline. The continuum between the protagonist and the villain is wide. You can find a super kind character and you can also find someone whose evilness source you can't comprehend. The casting also adds to the plus of this side. The actors and actresses can act.

The plot is superb. It will be difficult for you to guess the ending without watching it till the end. There'll be so many feelings right after you finish the whole series. The draggy part *which is common in Chinese dramas* is not very apparent here. You are kept excited for the most part.

The theme songs are beautiful. It supports the drama in many aspects. The wardrobes, settings, and CGI are not dissatisfying. Everything adds to the beauty of all casts. Luo Yunxi is gorgeous per usual.

I highly recommend this drama. It is very complicated and dramatic but it still leaves you a warm sensation afterward.

Slow-Good-Better-Disappointing-FF to end

The plot of the story was already explained so I’ll go to my likes and dislikes. This is my own personal opinion.
Started excellently wherein the explanation for what was shown in the very beginning wasn’t explained til last 2 episodes.
Got my interest because the story was mixed with a lot of puzzles that got slowly explained. There’s few scenes that didn't have any value but added in there I believe to fill time.
I might have started with the second male syndrome because General Fu Chou/FC seemed to have suffered so much that a little attention and care from the Female lead would have been nice. I was hoping he at least experience a happy heart even for two episodes but he probably got 10 minutes of it for the entire series.
It went downhill for my by episode 24 and I fast forwarded to the last episode then realized I have to watch the one before the last episode to get the sense as to why the emperor is sitting dead on the throne. I lost interest by then since I can tell by then that second male FC will not be written on the script to experience being loved or adored by someone he love.
The production was excellent, the sword fight were great and the OST is good. Costumes were beautiful and not boring. Acting were mostly good but the chemistry of the actors with each other weren’t felt. The characters were also good. I enjoyed the humorous and childish second prince. The evil Dowager actress for me didn’t do a great job portraying her role. Male Lead Weiyou came across flat to me in his portrayal.
This series has so many story on top of stories that if you don’t pay attention, you’ll miss it and get confuse.
It’s not something I’ll rewatch.

Stronger FL than most dramas

The story is strong, acting was decent by the cast. Fight choreography is above average with some really good stunts.

Positive:
Interesting story with a STRONG start a solid 8 (but then it dropped)
FL is a strong FL that didn't turn stupid and weak mid way through like other dramas
Decent acting
Good supporting cast - I really liked the FL's guard, the tea house female & FL's double
Less than average # of overbearing characters with repetitive lines that you need to skip.
One on one fight scenes. These are rare when the actors can't pretend to fight at all but there were many enjoyable ones.

Not so Great:
NO chemistry between all 3 men with the FL. Chemistry with the FL = 0
FL wants to find the truth but always refuse to listen to other people for their side of the story, not very consistent w/ her smart character
She saves random people out of kindness yet she's not very nice to injured 2nd lead even after he took a knife for her. Again doesn't fit her character
Lagging after first 30 ep. lost direct after ep 40. Character twist didn't make a lot of sense
No humor relief, they tried w/ the little brother of the king's character but not much humor in this drama, not even subtle ones

This drama won't be like a Joy of life classic but the story had potential with enough mystery built in it initially. It wasn't just executed to the full potential.

This didn’t play out the way I thought it would and that’s okay. The first half is great and I had no idea which way the plot would turn. The second half gets messy as it tries to clean up all the craziness. it’s mostly successful at balancing out so many characters and stories.

The cast is all good to great, the costumes are good and the set design is gorgeous.

More than other shows, this earned its episode count. Too many others have too many filler plot lines, but this kept moving forward.

Story (7.5):
The first 16-17 episodes were rather well written and executed on every front. Then everything became sluggish forthe about the next 10-11 episodes while things slowly built up to the "coup". From episode 29ish onwards it was decent, though most of the plot was rather predictable. Although the ending was not rushed, I was expecting a lot more. There isn't much worth watching other than the first 16-17 episodes. Everything else can be binged.

Acting (8.0):
The acting was decent. There were some places where some additional expressions would've made quite the difference. The main problem with the acting here wasn't the actual acting; it was the chemistry. Everytime I tried to feel the love out of the OTP, I just couldn't. The chemistry between the 2nd and 3rd male leads and the female lead were a lot better, but still rather lacklustre.

Music (9.0):
The music was well written and sung by everyone. I had most of the songs looping for quite a while.

Rewatch Value (6.0):
Aside from the first 16-17 episodes, there's not much rewatch value. If there's any other episodes, it's the final few ones where Leo shows his acting skills.

Overall (7.5):
Great execution for the first third of the drama, then it quickly fell apart. The story recovers in the latter half, but not to where the glory of the first 16-17 episodes. Worth watching if there is nothing else to watch.

I really enjoyed this drama. I thought I started it when I could watch/binge by the time it was finished subbing. I WAS WRONG. I ended up watching faster than the subs were being done. The plot was typical palace intrigue (aka hella drama) with backstabbing. However, it was addicting due to the fact that the main female lead was missing her memories, so you keep watching to see what happens. The plot twists on here are pretty amazing and least suspecting. But I will not ruin it for everyone.

The acting was great. I liked all the leads in this series. This is my first time seeing Aarif and Sophie in a drama. I thought they did really well! Aarif's character is suppose to be stoic and serious. But when he smiles, wow! Sophie was great with her range of emotions so it wasn't like watching two walls.

Overall I really enjoyed this drama and I will try to find more dramas with the actors here.

LONG BUT WORTH IT

I'm watching SILVER PRINCESS and it started out very well.. moving along at a good clip and then my heart was broken by one of those horrible misunderstandings I thought I couldn't go on but decided after just ONE day away that I wanted to know more about what happened and now I've doubled the number of episodes watched and solidly hooked.

Great Actors, some heroes, some villains and some with a realistic mixture of both traits that can suddenly flip, surprise you and even break your heart just a little and I still have many episodes to go. O.O Great costumes~ Great Scenery~ Great, somewhat convoluted story lines with lots of drama sprinkled with sweetness and comedy. Handsome men and pretty women~

All in all, while being longer than what I actively binge and having some difficulty keeping names and histories straight I'm glad to be sticking with it. Oh and while there is the main story line there are a LOT of back stories so you really get a feel for the community of characters, how they're related and the things that drive them.

I found a page in Wikipedia with a very complete list of characters, who played whom and how they're related. This would contain some spoilers so use with caution.
Enjoy~

Would like to give 8* but ended up with 3*

Would like to give 8* for overall story that writers build in this Drama.
They build a world with 4 kingdoms which has proper origin and characters with right personality.
Story is written will in which each characters playing off each other is done extremely well.
The cast and their acting is excellent. Maybe some can be better overall performance of the cast is above average.
Music score gives right amount of emotional impact on scenes.
But will give 3*.
Not sure how one person can conquer 4 kingdoms without even known by other kingdom leaders.
Sure there are some probability if one or two leaders are dump, but given knowledge and intelligence of the leaders it shouldn't be possible.
Northern Emperor's intelligence comes and goes episode by episode.
Chen Empire is not legible in story.
Martial skill of FL is coming and goes not sure why.
One human body can handle how many poison? FL been poisoned 6 times in two years’ span, all of them are fatal ones.
Never understood why Empress had to kill Lady Yun. Why did she kill FL's family? How did she become empress? How did she survive the fire and poisoning?
Why and how did she plan everything 20 years ahead? was she prophet to know every person to be born and their capabilities who may become significant officers in all 4 kingdoms to include in her plan?
Some might argue she had multiple contingencies but all her plans are rigid without margin of error even her failed plots.
Why did not memory poison work on her (she regained her memory almost immediately)?
Rong Qi has as much intelligence as fish, not sure why even bother trying to save man Er' and follow his mother’s order knowing bother are not mutual.
Other than this there are lot of small inconsistency all over the story, people disappear and reappear at random plots.
Characters skill changes from episode to episode.
So my score is 3/10 for this Drama

Beautiful sets, terrible actors

The expensive costumes and scenery and set designs were beautiful, but the producers should have spent more money on better actors and a better director. It was 50+ episodes long, the pace was so slow, and I felt the story could have taken 16-20 episodes like K-dramas. The story was unnecessarily drawn out, which as a result, bored me to tears.

Also, the actors were terrible. With the exception of the good performances by the Crown Prince (Liu Hanyang) and Prince Qi (Luo Yunxi), the actors and actresses performed as if they had botox treatments - no emotions shown, only their mouths moved as they spoke.

I could only endure this show until Episode 20, then I got bored and disgusted. I let my elderly mother continue watching the rest of the show as she loves Chinese historical dramas. That is 20 wasted hours that I will never get back in my life.

If you want to see a good Chinese historical drama, watch The Legend of Xiao Chuo. Shawn Dou was amazing in it. Jing Chao, who played Fu Chou in this show (Princess Silver), was excellent in The Legend of Xiao Chuo.

I've started Snow Tower but I've dropped it once I have found Princess Silver.

Very impressed with pretty much everything. Opening/closing video/music very nicely done and not many shows can compare to it, especially, opening video and music.
The strong female lead with minor physical imperfection makes her even more attractive - Definetelly actress to watch for.
Main leads are good for the roles and chemistry from my point of view is very good. Acting is quite good with just the right amount of emotions (Many drama show males crying/sobbing - I 'm no fan of that sort of thing).
Sets, costumes, and camera work are exemplary.

The fight choreography is very clean with some traditional Chinese martial art nicely implanted and just the right amount of CGI.
The white hair part surprised me as I know a person who did turn gray overnight due to extreme mental stress.

Highly recommended.

Frustrating Watch!

This series had a lot of potential based on the synopsis and visuals, but it ended up being frustrating to watch. The story revolves around Princess Rong Le of Western Qi, who gets amnesia and is forced to marry Prince Zongzheng Wu You for political reasons. However, Wu You rejects her, and she disguises herself as Manyao to find a book that could help her nation. But then there are so many mistaken identities, lies, and constant scheming that it becomes hard to follow.

The twist, that Rong Le isn’t actually the princess but the daughter of the book's creator. The title doesn't really fit either, except for a moment when her hair turns white after she stabs Wu You while poisoned.

The characters are complicated in a frustrating way. Wu You is traumatic and phobic about touching women, but then he starts pursuing Rong Le like he's entitled. Rong Le starts as a strong character, but she quickly becomes a damsel in distress, making a mess of her life. The acting is fine but nothing special. The music is forgettable.

I ended up dropping the series halfway through because it just became too frustrating. I skipped a lot of scenes to get through it, and I don't think I’ll be finishing it anytime soon. Overall, the series had potential, but the writers didn’t know how to develop the characters properly, leaving it as a major letdown.
