Wen Ning successfully saves Jiang Cheng from the Wen sect and brings them and Jiang YanLi to YiLing. Wei WuXian's trust issue is challenged when some Wen sect disciples come to question the sudden commotion. Wen Qing then lies to them and agrees to hide the YunMeng siblings in the YiLing Supervisory Office. In their room, Wen Qing diagnoses Jiang Cheng and finds a worrying issue. Jiang Cheng has lost his Golden Core to Wen ZhuLiu, and the same has happened to their parents before they died. Seeing Jiang Cheng losing control, Wei WuXian is then resolved to find a way to retrieve his Golden Core. He spends many days without food and sleep, worrying both Wen Qing and Jiang YanLi, to the point where Wen Qing also joins to find a cure. Finally, Wei WuXian finds a solution, but this comes with a great price to pay.
On the other hand, Wen Chao is determined to find and kill them.

The Untamed Episode 17 Reactions
The utter sadness sets in.
This is the 2nd episode where I am irritated at Jiang Cheng.
The blame that goes to Wuxian is unreasonable. We all know he didn't ever do anything that caused anything that wasn't already going to happen. Jiang Cheng's personality is the EXACT reasons his parents put Wuxian beside him and treated Wuxian the way they did. He can't even muster anything for his sister who has to suffer alone. She's a woman who doesn't cultivate dangit! What use is he to her as a brother? Thankfully they both have Wuxian.
[Note: The paranoia, the self doubt, the blame would not be a part of Wuxian's psyche at all if it wasn't for the darkness that entered his soul after coming into contact with the Túshā Xuánwǔ sword. I'll also note that, Wen Qing, having worked with Wen Ruo Han in order to suppress the affects of the Stygian Iron on him, is well aware that Wuxian is being affected by something similar, even if she doesn't express it. There's no way she doesn't see its affects.]
This is where I knew that Wuxian floated wherever the wind took him or in better words both ways. Wen Qing and him fight like a married couple. It's clear, just like her brother, she's let affection for Wuxian seep into her soul. Wuxian appreciates the care, and will always reciprocate.
Like the reason Wuxian was fascinated with Wangji and sought him out for friendship, she has talents that either match his or surpass him. These kinds of people are hard for him to find. It's also a clear indicator that Wangji floated this way from the start, and was the one having to suppress lots of things. I believe Wuxian understood that deep down from the start, and why he enjoyed teasing him in that vein. It's most assuredly that Wuxian comes to his feelings over time, where as for Wangji, it was love at first sight. lol.

It is truly heartbreaking to see Wei WuXian this traumatized and doubting everything. That's a lot of guilt and burden for one person, and he is not the one to blame, but he keeps blaming himself. Seeing him willing to sacrifice himself for others and not for once thinking about himself and what the consequences are for this is devastating and heartbreaking. Wen Ning is an angel and has a pure soul. Why does every beautiful soul has to suffer? :/

Jiang Cheng's golden core was destroyed by Wen Zhuliu and he became an ordinary person. Wei Wuxian tried to find a way to recover Jiang Cheng.
