Oh my God, writers did great with this. Croton thank you for sharing this Drama Series. I love Croton! I watch this with and without the English subs. I couldn't stop watching it. I understood every move, passion, drama, romance, of this drama without the English Subs. I just finished tv drama on another site with completed English subs. I will go back to re-watch for a continual viewing. This Drama series captured my heart and soul. The "Agape Love" is in this one. Thank you so much to the writers. NiNi the Actress, I mean you did an awesome job, if you are not on my favorite Actress list, you are now. This is my first time seeing Chang Chen in a drama series and it looks like this is his first Drama Series. They couldn't have done this without you. OMGosh the visual effects were on point! That little monster "dog" was perfection! I love him... I want one! lol I believe all the supporting actors and actresses should have been named "main leads" seeing how they made this storyline come together. Although there are many similarities with TMOPB's plot, such as going into the human realm and fighting the demon lord, Love & Destiny is ultimately about 2 normal people falling in love and going through so many obstacles to be together. This is a fundamental difference compared to TMOPB, where it's basically a love story of the bigshots, that is between the Crown Price/High God & Queen/High Goddess. For me watching this drama has been a really thrilling roller-coaster ride where I cried and laughed many times.
The sets, costumes, and cinematography are stunning as well. Even the evil characters live in gorgeous buildings. I hope all future xuanhuan dramas would be this beautifully shot.
The one "flaw" about this drama is that the cast is not as good-looking as TMOPB or Ashes of Love. For me, this does not matter. Even if it does, the plot, cinematography, and great characters more than offset that. However, I still get the feeling that Love & Destiny's core target is different from Ashes of Love or TMOPB. My guesses are:
- Ashes of Love: Teenagers + People who like idols
- Ten Miles of Peach Blossom: Early Twenties + Heavy Romance Drama Fans
- Love & Destiny: Late Twenty & Onwards + Quality Seekers

I really like it
I even re watched it twice!!Everything is so well-written and organized, from the costumes, to the cinematography. Plus very nice love story.
I'm fan of Xianxia and enjoy magical elements, clans issues, flying people etc))
The acting was good enough, especially female lead, I like her. I had a doubt about age gap, but after 2-3 episodes it's fine.
Side characters are well written as well and have their own lines. Qing Yao & Yun Feng))
Recommend to watch!... and rewatch then))))))

But in terms of plot, Eternal love is slightly better and there are many people who have compared these two, I won’t do so anymore.
Love and Destiny,itself, is still a wonderful drama, and might be one of those fantasy dramas I have ever watched.
Here are the reasons why;
1. Acting
Ni Ni and Chang Chen are one of the reasons why this drama is so popular.Ni Ni, as a veteran actress, portrayed her character beautifully, she fits in her character and carried the whole drama together with Chang Chen. Chang Chen, also is impressive as well. I have never watched his dramas and he is not very handsome but I’d still agree that I enjoy him as Jiu Chen.
2.Plot
Being a fan of Fantasy dramas, I’m accustomed to watching demon staffs. The plot is tight-woven, it is includes some light comedy scenes which made the drama even more interesting.
3.CGI
CGI is so much improved compared to Ice Fantasy which is also directed by Lin Yu Fen.Yet, it is still not perfect but it is watchable.
4. Director
Lin Yu Fen is indeed a master of Fantasy dramas. She directed Eternal love, Chinese paladins 3, The journey of flower and of course Love and Destiny is one of her best works.
5.Music
Using famous singers like Jane Zhang, Aska Yang and Zhang Bi Chen, theme songs are indeed very good.
6. Rewatch value
I’d still rewatch it after a few years( maybe next year).
Love and Destiny is an amazing drama owing to the production team yet I’d still say Eternal love is still the best fantasy drama.

The acting is great! The cgi wasn't cringy or bad at all like some of the wuxia dramas. The costumes are nicely colored and the main leads had more options. The music is very catchy! Sometimes caught myself humming along!
The story may go slow and the romance may develop slow but it would gradually grow on you. Also, you will laugh, feel butterflies, get mad/pissed off, and cry (not much though).
I recommend everyone to give it a shot. I don't like writing too much and I hoped everyone enjoys this show while watching! <3

Outstanding acting from the leads
I'm not really a fan of xianxia but they seem to be everywhere in cdramaland so I watch them almost reluctantly. There are not many that I found to be enjoyable but this drama is a definite exception. It was EXCELLENT. Most of the credit goes to the main leads -- Chang Chen and Ni Ni. They were just so superb in their roles I was willing to overlook the plot weirdness in certain parts. I saw so many complaints about them, especially Chang Chen (whom I admire greatly), but they are incredible. They elevate this drama by many levels. The acting is great for the most of the characters. It also helps that the story is written so that the characters (even the support/side) are consistent to their characterization and not used as plot devices.The sets and effects were also very good. Production did not cheap out. Everything looked great. And I cannot praise the OST enough. I listen to the soundtrack all the time. So good.
I'll just say this for all the comparisons to TMOPB: I skipped through so much of that show that I barely remember the main plot. The acting and the story for Love and Destiny far superior. But each to their own.

The one thing that bothered me most was the choice of main leads. The two are strong actors, but there seems to be a lack of chemistry that's only compensated by their skill. The choice of the male bothered me a little more in a way that he's not best suited for a romantic (comedic) drama. Mark Chao would have been a better choice for this God of War if not for the fact that he was the God of War in TMPB. There are a few romantic scenes between Jiu Chen and Ling Xi, but rather than enjoying the scenes, I find myself fast-forwarding through. The side story between Yun Feng and Qing Yao was more natural and enjoyable than the main one. The remaining cast was wonderful. My favorite are 13 and Si Ming.
Music was rather common. Not bad, just common. Not mesmerizing like TMPB, and not grand like Ever Night. After watching 60 episodes I can't recall how many songs were written for it, or what the melodies were.
Like most people said, the ending felt lacking. The last 5 episodes were rather slow, and lacked action and explanation. I felt that it either can cut about 3 episodes, or it needed one more to give a more complete ending. The final climax to resolution, all of 300 years was delivered in a few minutes.
I would not rewatch it. Though it was very well done, I did not come out of it wanting more. I did not want to go back and watch a certain scene.

A masterpiece
I just finished Love and Destiny, and it’s an absolute masterpiece. At first, I started this drama a bit randomly because it’s listed on many websites as one of the most-watched. I had quite a few prejudices because it’s relatively old (2019), so I put on the first episode and what a shock. I ended up binge watching all the episodes in four days.The cast is fantastic, and the lead actress is simply incredible she portrays her character perfectly. I have quite a few dramas in my favorites, but finding one that truly hits like this is really rare. I can only recommend that people watch it and not judge it solely based on the somewhat dated CGI. This drama is a masterpiece that everyone should watch at least once!

Perfect
From the same team that gave us Eternal Love and yes, the story is somewhat similar but I didn’t expect to love the series so much that I’d want to buy it.Chang Chen and Ni Ni had great chemistry. Chang Chen’s intense and passionate personality made him perfect for the God of War’s, and often clueless about women, character. Ni Ni was amazing at being the young, vulnerable yet strong girl. She even made me tear up a couple of times. The rest of the cast were well chosen so overall, the series was interesting and enjoyable to watch.
The original soundtrack also added so much to the series, especially the songs by Aska Yang (opening) and Jane Zhang (ending) that were perfect to set the mood. Both are now part of my favorite playlist.
The kissing scenes were finally real. I’m not sure why kissing scenes, in most drama, are quite pathetic with actors kissing with their lips so tight you’d think they are kissing against their will.
As for the story, yes, it was similar to all others. Fall in love, a couple of jealous and envious villains but in the end, the lovers are reunited.
I hope to be able to buy that series on Amazon, in the meantime, I’ll surely rewatch it a couple of times.

Beyond my expectation
This drama is beyond my expectation. At first, i'm like many people comparing this drama to Eternal Love or 10 miles peach blossom. This drama is in no way a sequel or a prequel to Eternal Love. There are of course similarities, such as the formula (deity and human world) and the realm and setting of the drama. But the story and characters are different. Love and Destiny in my opinion can be a classic story, that I will watch again in the future, time permitted. It's a sad and classic love story. The middle part (human world) is a bit slow, but it continues to pick up after that. Ni Ni is a great actress. I've watched her in Rise of The Phoenix as well and she did excellent acting in both dramas. I thought she and Chang Chen made a great couple in this drama. The couple are reunited in Gucci's latest campaign. The supporting characters in this drama are also interesting. I like watching their storyline. The drama albeit some sad moments are also filled with comedy moments that made me laughing so loud. If you like Xian Xia dramas, this is a classic must watch in my opinion.Was this review helpful to you?
Rare Xianxia with a Happy Ending
A xianxia with a happy ending! Yay! Overreacting a bit? Maybe. But after watching xianxia and C-dramas with mostly bitter, bittersweet, ambiguous or slightly hopeful endings, it was refreshin to watch a C drama that had a happy ending for its 1st and 2nd couples.But aside from its’ happy ending, L&D has an engaging story with a wide set of characters and villains (who range from petty and boring, irritable, irredeemable to even tragic).
L&D features Ni Ni as Ling Shee, a low ranking immortal that by fate or accient awakens the God of War (Jiu Chen) from his 50 thousand year slumber. She then becomes his servant and works at his palace in the celestial court as a maid. But Ling Shee’s happy days don’t last long because fate has darker plans for her…
Okay. This is what I can say about the story without spoiling it much.
The idea of the story and its’ execution is mostly good. Ni Ni as Ling Shee is great and charms the audience with her beauty and wit. Chang Chen is also stoic, strong and completely believable as God of War and they have very good chemistry. The others are well cast too.
Another great thing about L&D is its’ production value, which is superb. The costumes and sets for each realm are very well done and the props and make-ups for demons are great.
However, one thing that really stops me from rewatching it is the pacing. Even though the actors give very good performances, L&D really didn't need to be 60 episodes long. In fact, it can be broken down to three arcs and the second arc, which takes place in the human realm, is the longest (30 episodes). Sure, the story is interesting and actors do a very fine job of portraying the characters. But did it really need to be 30 episodes to finish what easily could have been 10 to 15 episodes? Basically, two major things happen in the second arc that determine the heroine’s fate. And in between these two tests, a lot of skippable drama happens; a lot of characters looking at each other either with doubt, longing, etc. Honestly, I had no problem with the first act because it managed to establish three things at a good pace: The world and the characters, the villains and the stakes, and the progression of the story. The 2nd act slows to almost a crawl and even with the actors’ talents you can’t stop noticing it. The 3rd act picks up the pace, but the editing could be tighter there as well.
I also had some issues with the ending and fates of some of the secondary characters. As I said before, L&D has a wide range of villains, one of which is a very irredeemable and nasty one. To its’ credit, L&D manages to use her very well for 90% of the drama. But in the last episodes, it dimishes her power and villainy and replaces her position as a major villain with a secondary character (who was a morally grey character before). In my opinion, it was unnecessary and seemed like a half-assed attempt at “seems like everything is going well for our main couple, so let’s ruin it for them!”
Despite it all, L&D has a definite on-screen happy ending and for that I give it a huge positive. However its’ unnecessary length and some plot choices near the end prevent me from giving this well-produced and acted xiancia a 8/7 or 9 rating.
