Love and Destiny

As soon as I saw that this drama took place in the same universe as Eternal Love, I knew that I needed to watch this. I cannot decide which of the dramas I love more, both of them were so beautifully done. It had me laughing, crying, getting angry and being happy as well.

I highly recommend this drama to anyone who enjoys a slightly long series that can keep you on the edge of you seat. But also enjoys seeing the beautiful costumes, wonderful actors working together and the lovely music that is included in this drama.

I would definitely watch this again.

I would recommend this drama. Although it has many similarities with "Ten Miles of Peach Blossom," I find it worth watching because the scriptwriter and the director did a great job to bring this film to a level where it deserves. Also, many pieces in the show worked very well like the storyline, plot, acting, humor, the chemistry between the male and the female leads, music, camera work and all. This is something I wouldn't mind watching again. It's a very sweet and heartfelt love story that shows good moral, ethics, and is also very gripping. Even supporting actors did their parts very well. This drama has quite a lot of episodes, so if you have time to kill, I would definitely recommend watching. It is also good for your mind!

Fixing what went wrong with 10MoPB

Anyone who is familiar with the TM franchise would have known, plagiarism, pointless second leads, loopholes in the hero/ines's decision-making and story progression, world that solely exists and caters for the two main leads. So the staffs basically got together again and made an original storyline that in my opinion, should have been how TMoPB goes down. I agree very much with Avenuex's review on youtube, the only sin is Jiu Chen's house interior and his wardrobe/hair. He could have been a dashing mature god, but they make him look as if he's an uncle trying to look young and it makes him look ridiculous. The BGM music is less fun, but more atmospheric and invisible when you are watching. The theme music, I just loathe Qing Yao-Yun Feng's love theme and it plays A LOT. Others I have no problem with. Then, I also agree that the ending is rushed, but it's alright since it's still within sense.

The word 'destiny' is very integral to the story. It really feels like the old dramas from before where destiny is so irresistible. There are also fate with family, fate with love and friendships, and fate with strangers. The characters' stories in this drama is so intense with it. I wanted to review the drama right away after watching in Viki, but then I was just babbling. I want to make this review right.

I admit I cried more with TM but on second rewatch, even the minute that scene ends, I find myself thinking, 'this is ridiculous' ... 'it's so fake' ... 'this doesn't even make sense'. The gods make me feel disappointed. Asian gods are not the problem like Greek gods, you see, they're the solution. So for the imperial court to be that blind and corrupt just deeply disturbs me. With Chenxiyuan, though I cry less, when I do it pours. And when I look back, everything leaves a bittersweet ache in my heart that stays with me and changes my every day. It's so hard. It's so hard for the Chen and Xi to be together because they don't have backups. They can't use privilege or loyalty cards, and they don't think to. I find this really mature and noble, truly befitting of immortals.

What's more, they make many references to the worship, like when they pray to gods and how Siming will not show book of fate easily to someone volatile. The addition and new details not only makes this drama a solid story that embodies the religions people have in China, but also fixes the holes in the other series that was supposed to be the 'origin'.

There's no need for me to say that everyone's acting is spot on and shines like the pearls on an empress crown. There's a lot of information, and this is important because... supporting characters are not main leads' servants. Everyone's fates are also considered thoroughly and woven with each other to create a believable mega story. I didn't skip any of the scenes or episodes.

Senior sister had an ill fate with love, from her previous reincarnations where her life didn't unfold as destined or maybe from birth. Ling Xi has poor fate with family, her familial ties are either absent (godfather, mother) or has short life (mother and father) (human father). Jiu Chen, by vow has the fate of duty, and this duty is something that he can't just throw away. There are other gods who can sacrifice themselves for the world but Jiu Chen steps up. That duty itself is his life. Shisan, born a fish clan, is fated to have a challenging romance due to their gender. Anyway, I'm stretching it, but the characters have this 'life' that are destined for them, and the way story unfold feels very inevitable. It all leads to the end of the drama, and it doesn't feel like it was machinated to make main leads romance suffer or flourish. That is what makes this drama sublime.

You know I really wanted Ling Xi to just realise it's The PEACH, but the fates say no and what can we say? I really wanted Ling Xi to just take a bit of that peach but these immortals keep breaking her home and she's so broke she can't even loaf about!!!! I really wanted Ling Xi to just grab a peach to snack, but she is a very humble and hardworking gal so she doesn't and it just makes me want to adopt her.

Weird stuff gods do there: king god (and the court) is corrupt and unwise with no sense of duty, sexist heaven (same problem with ashes of love), gods abide by mortal's rules such as forbidding prince to meet his mother, or a concubine punishing herself with a white silk to die. Really? I'd think heaven would have had a way to detect if that kind of thing really happened and what will a mere silk do to a god? Lol bear in mind she is a GOD who's lived in a very energy dense palace for thousands of years.

And their treatment to Susu. Please. In old legends that'll mean the human will be ascending as a god. YH and BQ's engagement was arranged and the woman gave birth to YH's son, so she should be treated with some respect. It's not as if YH is going to take her as his principal wife before they tortured the couple. If they had been forgiving, YH would have taken Susu back and asked to take her as a concubine... If they're going down the concubine system path. …I just- I have never heard of Taoist gods having many concubines. They simply don't need many descendants. There are also several ways for Chinese gods to assure loyalty aside from political marriage... Immortal medicine, favours, life favours, friendship bonds, information, or war glory. When you live that long, even a silk flower from a happy wedding is an unforgettable gift. The standings of Taoist gods depend on their work and worshippers, not because of their lineage.

Siming is somewhat the king's assistant. Siming is in charge of every single human's fate and also those that are transferred to animal reincarnation or vice versa, he can't be anyone's assistant. In fact, HE needs assistants. Don't talk to me about Donghua whose only use is exposition and late rescues. Or Fengjiu who is framed as a 'powerful monarch' when she is not the slightest bit a good ruler and only ascends because she has to because drama. (TMoPB) Whatever about book rights, either make up a plausible story or don't include their storyline.

Parents are just there for decoration, they are nowhere to be seen when their kids are supposed to suffer, and will show up when their kid's lover is due for some tormenting from in-laws. It is a dramatic story, but at the expense of every character's common sense. TM novel is short and terse, it wasn't written for drama, the padded details in the drama highlights the story's crazy and nonsensical side. The drama should have been 10 episodes. 30 episodes if you squeeze every word.

And as much as I love Mark Chao and appreciates Yang Mi's work there (only there), I have made a vow I will not add view counts to that drama. Understand that I love TM, but I can't add to its profits, and though I once regarded it as a great drama, CXY is clearly meant to address all the weak points I mentioned above that TM failed to deliver. Between the two it's a no-brainer which I will rewatch over and over again.

Similarity to Eternal Love aka Ten Miles of Peach Blossom

to Ten Miles Of Peach Blossom fans, TM is one of the best drama of 2017. Many ppl are not over it yet, therefore I recommend u guys another drama which is called Love and Destiny.

Similarity of TMOPB
1. Jiuchen from Love and Destiny is a God Of War which is the same Status as Mo Yuan in Ten Miles.

2. Ling Xi from Love and Destiny grows up in Peach Forest who has a father is a retired doctor and he likes drinking wine. Zhe Yan from Ten Miles is also a doctor but he doesn't drink wine, Bai Qian likes drinking wine.

3. Ling Xi has to go through lives-trials in Mortal Realms. It is the same as Bai Qian.

4. Ten Miles of Peach Blossom and Love & Destiny are directed by the same director Lin Yu Fan. Not many ppl know that Love & Destiny is the original story and Ten Miles is a spinoff, its confirmed by the Director.

5. Both dramas costumes are from William Chang (Designer).

6. Both Stories had the same voice actors.

7. Both stories are written by Tang Qi Gong Zi.

8. Both Dramas had Si Ming who is the immortal of destiny.

9. Jiuchen and Yehua, they both almost have the same personality and character. They were cold but caring for their love-ones. This is one of the reason I really love Jiuchen after I watched it.

This is all, eventhough Love And Destiny's rate isn't as high as Ten Miles. I still recommend u guys to watch it. This drama gives the same vibes as Ten Miles but they have different plots.

I have recently watched this serial and this has made me write this review. This show was definitely a perfect piece with awesome completely perfect acting.
Story. As for story it was like a typical romantic story that is main couple is always caring toward each other, sacrificing their selves for one another. There is no new element and after 30 35 episodes it was difficult for me to cop up as the plot was dragging and unnecessary scenes which may have nothing to do with the main story line. So for me story is tremendously executed? but it is not novel main lead has always struck between love and duty otherwise costumes, scenery dialogues everything is good but plot is not new so for me it's 8 but I enjoyed watching it. Jst one complaint that villains are too annoying and they don't get enough punishment.
Acting. I must say acting was awesome both main leads and supporting actors are fabulous their acting face expressions dialogue delivery everything is so on spot that some times Jat because of their acting and the way they did the scene I have watched a lot of scenes again and again. Cheng Chen and ni Ni I would love to watch them again they were so good together❤️ having great chemistry. Cheng Chen face expressions are mature enough to match the personality of GOW so the acting is 10 on 10.
Music. music is also too good I don't know how many times I have listened to the OST it was too melodious.
Rewatch value. As for me it is definitely re-watch able I would recommend it to everyone who is in for romantic story and great chemistry. ⚗️

Wonderful, beautiful romance fantasy series.

I loved everything about this series. The setting, the characters, the costumes, the music, the pacing; to me everything about this was perfect. If you are looking for a wonderful romance fantasy then you need to do your self a favor and watch this series. Ni Ni and Chen Chang did a wonderful job as the leads for this series, the supporting cast were great with some stand outs being Zhang Zhixi, Li Jiaming, and Li Dongxue. Li Dongxue is a great anti-hero and he takes his character to the next level. I can't recommend this series enough. 10/10, will be watching again!

A gem among thousands of fantasy cdramas

my favourite Chinese drama and the only long c-drama besides the untamed that I've finished watching.

plot 9 : I lost my interest after ling xi's death, I felt she was so wronged and hated jiu chen. the rebirth was weird to me. but the plot overall wasn't bad so I continued watching. plot has some lackings unfortunately but overall it's pretty solid compared to all other dramas I'll say.

acting : 10 Ni Ni and Chang Chen y'all. are you kidding me with less than 10? also the rest of the cast- li dong xue (jing xiu), zhang zhi xi (qing yao), leo li (yun feng), Hai ling (yuan tong), na guang zi (shi san), Patrick zhang(si ming), guan xin (bao qing) and everyone else acted well,everyone deserves praise. thanks to their good acting I didn't cringe (ok I did, a li'l bit very few times) which happens for me in most cdramas.

there are many parts I want to point out of the drama and the actors.

1.Ni ni's slow speech after gaining ability to speak and still being awkward with it 👏👏👏 As after rebirth initially she was deaf and so she couldn't speak. brilliant acting as lin mo by Ni Ni. I was very very impressed,also because of Lingxi and lin mo's kindness, selflessness and good nature. it's not typical dumb girl bs. ling xi was playful yet kind but when she was reborn as ling xi, she became more calm and confident. I just loved how ni ni portrayed all these changes for her characters. you can just see how detailed her acting is! Can't fall for her more.

2. Chang Chen's acting is good. I gotta check out more of his works.
Jiu chen loved Ling xi and showed it through his actions rather than vocalising it but mf never says anything important to ling xi when he SHOULD.
he blossoms peach flower, peaches in the tree he planted/created in the house ling xi is staying at knowing that she loves it. he keeps remembering his days with ling xi... I get that he cares about ling xi, he loves her BUT how do you explain constant lying to her and leaving right before wedding while ling xi knows nothing? she'll move on?really? every freaking single time he makes decisions by himself that includes ling xi. always lying to her, hiding everything from her, playing with her feelings, forcefully kissing her and all the empty words, I just can't like this ML... even if he does lingxi favors he ends up upsetting her as well.
0/10 for ml for me no matter how much he did for her,for a god that old he should have had more decisive and strong personality. also jiu chen makes her feel betrayed during her last breath every freaking time, just explain it to her or leave her alone!!! the forceful kissing need to be gone from dramas. it's really really not cute, I hated every fckn kiss from jiu chen to ling xi and lin mo.

3. Jing xiu... I actually quite liked him. sad that he turned out to be evil by the end of the drama. but it's true that he was always a shrewd person even with his occassional nice personality. his and ling xi's friendship was cute though... hated when he killed ling xi's mother and bao qing...also his underling killed hua yan. I was on his side till then but after that, he was officially evil beside yuan tong,for me.

4.I hated when the two men kept pushing themselves on ling mo in the name of proving themselves to her and how uncomfortable they made her feel with their constant tricks and manipulations. not cool. don't like it. LET HER DECIDE whom she wants, don't pressurise her!!!

5. Yuan tong character was quite impressive, till the end she was vicious. I thought probably she'll stop scheming but no, she didn't. even after losing her immortal bones. her acting, expressions were good. feel bad for her brother though who wanted good for her, she actually got many chances to redeem but she kept on being how she is. kinda feel bad how she turned out in the end..

6. qin yuan and bao qing's moments were cute but short lived. sadly. all these unfortunate pairs were the essence of this drama. Coke Lee (sang nan) was good as well. like ling xi and her mothers reunion was also very sad as how short it was.

7. Qing yao was a solid female character in the drama,loved her. zhang zhi xi acted very well. her and yun feng's chemistry was good. their brother, cheng yan was good too!

the ost's are so so beautiful especially the one's by zhang bichen and Jane zhang!!! the bgm timings was perfect. I loved it.

This drama, the actors were robbed!! can't believe the drama and Ni Ni didn't get any award!!! also the supporting characters deresved awards as well.

Took me forever to really get into this drama. It starts out really slow, I feel like it could've been condensed a lot. The last 20 episodes are probably the best. I almost dropped the drama a few times because of how slow it was going.

The love story is good, the second couple is probably my favorite. The main couple love story took so long and wish it showed more lovey stuff in the beginning. The acting is good, and I like all the characters in the drama. Felt like the ending could've gone a little longer. I wanted to know what happened after the end. The main bad guy didn't seem that bad honestly, the other bad guy, yeah I get it.

Overall very slow paced. Just read a background story of the drama watch just the cute episodes of the couples &. The. Skip til midway til it gets a bit more interesting.

If you like fantasy of gods and love... this series is pretty much what the title is. Actually remind me a lot of 10 miles of Peach Blossom ... but in a way this story is better written as a series. The story and characters.... and the supporting characters... are better arranged. The script is also better written.... there isnt much a rang on moment in the series. The intro was short and sweet and it grip you from the very first episode. The conflicts and the way that relationships develops are really great. There is a lot of good moments from the very start to the end. Plots and the way it falls into place was good timing too. Even though you see a lot of these type of series around, its actually really hard to have a good finish product like this series. This is a good journey worth your time.
