Comfort Comic Book Series

Rated=9 ~ 44/50 ~ 8.8
RPG Scene // Elf Warrior Blazing through the Sky City. Excalibur on fire.

This has become my comfort series. It touches on deep matters of forgiveness and power without taking it's self too seriously. Sometimes, I can find the sense of humour in these sorts of shows a little childish but this surprisingly manages to blend the cartoonish humour with a deep subject.

The lead is described as being like a comic book character and that's how I feel about the serious as whole. It's like a visual comic book. It is both fantastical and believable and appeals to my sense of humour.
Kim Nam Gil is glorious to look at and is clearly a pro, believably conveying a variety of emotions from cartoon hell raiser to a vulnerable man begging to God on his knees. His character, Kim Hae-il is one of my favourite types of characters. He's hot headed and passionate but has a strong sense of himself and what he stands for. He's also hilarious. He's the type of hero I love to see. When he wins a fight, I'm applauding him or I know he's about to eff up some assholes. What can be described as mistakes were enemy retaliations.

This is why I love the comic book feel to it all. If it were a regular drama, I would feel like he's a bit much. He has to slip up somewhere but because of that added element, I find myself routing for him like Batman. I want the hero to be the hero. Someone everyone can rely on. It's that 'I will find you and I will kill you' kind of badassery and you believe him.

The villains are gloriously hateable just simply for being greedy people. No big evil plot, no mastermind, just plain, old human greed. They even have them slow-mo smile during moments of them winning. And I thoroughly enjoyed watching them be brought to justice one by one.

Both sides managing to walk the fine line being comic book character and relatable human, and for me personally, I just simply love the idea of a Batman type priest. That added element of spiritual peace, forgiveness and redemption just feels like that added touch at the end of a hero plot, where you are left with an uplifted satisfied feeling.

I am looking forward to season 2 .

The best comedy drama that you never knew existed until just now

I'll start by saying I do not give out perfect 10.0 scores lightly, I typically find some aspect of a series could use improvement. That said I'm glad to report that imho, as far as comedic dramas are concerned The Fiery Priest is about as close to perfection as you will ever find.

First, the casting is perfect for everyone and the individual performances in this series are superb. Just try not to fall in love with the entire cast by the end of the series, there isn't a weak actor in the bunch and every single character has a significant arc in one way or another.

The storyline is engaging and it never stalls, each episode peels back another layer to the onion so to speak while still keeping a rock steady pace from ep to ep.

But most important of all is that every single episode of this drama is solidly entertaining, genuinely funny and quite simply just a pleasure to watch. The hour goes by in what feels like 15 minutes and you will be wishing there was more to go by the end. There's not much to dislike here so do yourself the favor of giving this series a shot, I promise it won't disappoint.

BEST DRAMA TO ENTERTAIN

I gotta say this film helps me a lot since I've felt quite bad recently and watching this made me laugh so hard.
The character development is brilliant, as each of them has their own story and pain that lead to their choices , especially Michael Kim ( he's df one of my best male character ever )
I love the fact that there's great amount of chemistry among the members in the team, not just focusing on anyone or trying to develop the romantic factor.
The most important part is the humor in every scene. You can feel emotional in a scene then turn to laugh immediately a second later. And that what makes me fall for this film.
And they got Kim Nam Gil in the cast, since I'm a big fan of him, there's no doubt that he portray the role perfectly. From the hot-tempered one to the emotional and caring for others, plus the action scenes are fantasting.
I should have watched this film sooner, but better late than never, I'm glad I finally watched this.
Also can't wait to see the Season 2 coming out!

Season 1 V Season 2

In season one there was a balance between action, comedy, and drama, which nothing was exaggerated. Watching the evolution of the characters was very satisfying and fun and the best thing is that every character had the moment to shine, it was perfection in all aspects. While in season two, they over exaggerated on the comedy side of the show and kind of neglected the other aspects, it wasn’t deep and emotional as the first season. They had a plenty of time to prepare for the season, but unfortunately I was disappointed with the second season so much that I wished they contented with only one season.

I finished this around March and it really left me wanting for more !! Omg especially the wwb !!!! (only the people who watched TFP knows what this means hAha). yeEs omg I’m having my hopes up. The plot is very very very amazing ! This is really one of a kind; a masterpiece that is highly recommended to those who love genres like crimes, investigations, politics, corruption, and also comedy that makes this drama even more amazing. But if you’re a person who loves “romance”, im sorry but this is not for you HAHA ! BUT GIVE IT A TRY !! OMG YOU MIGHT CONSIDER THESE KIND OF DRAMAS AFTER YOU WATCH THE FIERY PRIEST !! And ofc not to forget, the actors and actresses portrayed their roles very very well !! They really suit their roles and iluvem haha. The production is also amazing ! The staffs did their job so well and especially the PDnim/Director, tbh he owned it !! HAHAH <3. Also the screenwriter, such a masterpiece he made that will never be forgotten for it gets you attached to the drama till the end ?❤️. And lastly the OST ! yEs ! To those who really love action dramas with comedy, the OST is for you too!! Really gives me the chills whenever it plays on the bg ??❤️. It drags you to love the drama even more !! real talk ?? cuz everytime it’s kim nam gil having the end part of the drama in an episode on screen (like the moment it stops then a bg plays, HAH whatev u know what i mean lol HAHA?), omg, cHiLLs! especially when he beats up the bad guys tho HAHA he really blends with the OSTs ?. I really2 love this drama and is the best for me ever since?. Stream this! You won’t regret it !! ??

A mix of action and comedy that you never knew you needed.

I watched this drama 05 years after it was released because I heard it was getting a season 02. Whenever I find out that a K-drama is having a season 02 I always make it a point to watch season 01, because 99% of the time the drama gets a second season because the first season was outstanding.

To say that I regret watching this drama so late is an understatement. If a drama can grab my attention 2 episodes in, then I know it's a must-watch and I have to say that I already loved it 20 minutes into this drama. When I saw that Ha Nee Lee was in the cast, I knew it was going to be a comic relief, because let's be honest, she always brings a sense of humour to her characters. The rest of the characters did an amazing job with their roles too. The storyline was so amazing that I felt every emotion along with the characters.

I loved how the story came together in the end and the character development of all the main characters, especially Goo Dae Young and Park Kyung San. Priest Han and Sister Kim's scenes were so refreshing to watch too. I'm really glad that the writers didn't kill off Priest Han, because if they did I really would have considered dropping the drama. I loved the ending they gave to Jang Ryong and Hwang Cheol Beom, especially when they showed how they felt about killing Father Lee. It brought out the human side of them.

The comedy scenes of this drama were top-notch as well. I know we are supposed to hate the villains in these dramas but I have to say that I really had fun watching them and their shenanigans. It was very refreshing to see that none of the Priests and Nuns took on the roles of double agents. I would have really hated to a character amongst them, who would end up betraying them in the end.

All in all, this drama is definitely recommended for anyone who loves action but also needs a comic relief. The drama really managed to stick to its action genre even when there were so many scenes that made you laugh out loud. I have very high expectations for season 02, especially knowing that most of the main cast is returning.

Review:-The Fiery Priest (2019)

The Priest Kim Nam Gill is using his Bidam like skills on these bad people. Love it. So happy that this is now on Netflix and I can watch the whole thing and not just bits. It starts hard and goes hard. He’s so awesome. We so love his fighting skills makes us just fangirl all over him. Such a babe. He looks big with his priest gears on but underneath his clothes he’s still the slim gorgeous guy we know and love.

He was an undercover agent for the NIS who became a priest. He looks so immaculate in black, love him. He is so good at acting and in this drama he’s funny too. I have missed watching this formidable, impressive and terrifying actor.

It really is a sad story about the other Priest that was murdered and made out to be a molestor and a thief when he was one of the good ones and he wasn’t allowed to be buried in the cemetery because they said that he had committed suicide. I don’t understand those catholic ways/traditions. So that priest had saved his life after he had been attacked and was dying. That is how he became a priest.

Oh this is so much better than the previews I watched and so deserving of the all the awards that it won for 2019. This is the cleverest and funniest Korea Drama I have ever watched. I love these Korean women when they play badass fighters. Geum Sae Rok/Seo Seung Ah was the one in this one a new young Korean actor I hadn’t seen before. She was so cool.

This drama has everything in it, thrills, spills, crime, comedy, mystery, friendship, drama and badass action from both males and females. Its such an incredible and powerful drama played by amazing and extraordinary actors. Most of them with superb and astounding Martial Arts talents expertise and techniques.

The Priest Kim Nam Gil/Kim Hae Il / Michael is up against some ruthless, heartless and vindictive foe not just the criminals but his old adversaries from his secret agent history. All of them relentless , cruel and merciless. All trying to hurt him deeply because of some grudge that have against him. They are mercenaries hired by Kim Min Jae/Lee Joong Kwon [NIS agent] to hurt him and his friends. They all served together in the NIS. This ex-agent has driven the priest over the edge. Right till the end they kept using his loved ones as bait to aggravate his anger because he Kim Hae Il had anger issues that he had little control over.. The last episode was reminiscent of Bidam when his enemies brought 15 men to fight him. Seems like they were jealous of his efficiency and his clinical nature when working. It wasn’t as gory as Bidam because he didn’t have a sword but he was just as determined and effective. It was like a fighting show. Its like Bidam gets his redemption ……. Just my opinion.

Go Joon/Hwang Cheol Bum was the protagonist in this drama but I couldn’t help but feel something pitiful for this guy. One of those bad boys that make your heart flutter during parts of the story and you had to admire his fighting skills. The mercenaries are after him as well. He’s a spunk when he’s dress up in normal clothes and not his usual over dressing. Although broken hearted, upset and seemed to have killer instincts he still seemed to have a heart. His men meant a lot to him even though he treated them cruelly at times.

I never thought a drama about a priest could be so fine and so well constructed or that I would enjoy it so much but Kim Nam Dam over extended himself. So worthy of being on my favourite actors list. Such an outstanding drama. Woah!

I loved it

To the music aspect, I honestly didn't gave it attention to it because I was so focused on the story. In my opinion everything was so good. The plot, the cast, the acting. It started so good that I had to continue, and I'm that kind of person, if the beginning doesn't impress me I would drop it after 2 episodes. But i think this is one of the few dramas that I've watched as soon as the english subs came out. It started great amd it ended great. Totally recommended if you like comedy, crime and action mixed up perfectly.

Kim Nam Gil, the new love of my life??? This was such a funny and entertaining show omg, Kim Hae Il might be the only priest in existence I can tolerate, he was so fucking fun!! I can relate to his anger issues because, honestly, sometimes you just wanna do some damage, you know lmao? I gotta say that I thought the investigation was taking a little too long at first, but the second half of the show was really great and especially the last couple of episodes had some fun and shocking surprises and twists that I really liked. Loved seeing the teamwork and idiocy of the characters and I love this chaotic bunch so much, like they're family to me. I'm quite excited for that second season, hopefully we'll get some news on that soon since 2019 is a lttle while ago already. Also, the OST was perfect for this show, really caught the vibes of it 100%. Overall, really fun and stole some tears of mine too ... Anyway, Kim Nam Gil can get it 🧍🏻

I'm not sure what kind of drugs this drama was on, but them was some good ones.

There are so many things to love about The Fiery Priest. The acting is on point, the Ost is the bomb, and the storyline is easy to follow with a clear endgame. This is one of those dramas that could have easily been a nail-biting thriller, what with the priest and his backstory, but they chose to go the comedy plus action route and I'm not upset. This is full of super cheesy moments that are balanced with lovely friendships and action scenes galore. Plus, this is full of so many great glow-ups. They crammed as many slow motion "epic" scenes as possible which made it more fun to watch. I'm so here for the priest's revenge/righteous glow-up near the end. There's also enough character development to satisfy the growing pains in this drama.

There are a couple things about this that are a little off-putting. For one, for the first half of this drama, the bad guys won time and time again. The imbalance is a little hard watch, but right around the half way mark it starts to really get good, so hold on. It's worth it.

Secondly, the comedy, while it will have you laughing at the absurdity, is sometimes a little ill timed. They could have almost made this a little bit more serious and I wouldn't have minded. That being said, because of the seriousness of the plot, I think they tried to balance it out with the comedy aspect. But the ridiculous moments are fun to watch.

Also, this isn't really a con, but there isn't any romance in this. Just some good, well-structured friendships and that more than makes up for the lack of romance.

Despite its cons, it has many pros and you should definitely give it a try. Just be prepared for some major silliness.

An All Time Classic with the perfect mix of Action, Fun, and Drama!

Where do I even start with this amazing K-Drama? I may be slightly biased with this K-Drama because of the obviously heavy focus on Catholicism but this k-drama instantly hooked me in the very first minutes of it. The character introduction of Father Kim was instantly iconic, the presentation of how he moves and his fiery personality made him larger than life. Kim Nam Gil does a perfect and flawless job in his portrayal of Father Kim, nobody else in Korea could have done what he did with the role. Right from the start The Fiery Priest does a wonderful job in establishing the tone of the entire K-Drama showing both a comedic side and a more serious side while adding in some actually pretty amazing action scenes with some fantastic choreography which is always a crucial thing for me when it comes to watching a K-Drama. It never strays away from the set tone once throughout the entire series. It expertly mixes it all together allowing for the viewer to laugh and enjoy the really fun and happy moments while feeling the emotion of the serious scenes.

One of the biggest motifs of the Fiery Priest is redemption focusing around Father Kim redeeming his two main partners in taking on the corrupt council that runs Gudam. It handles redemption in a perfect pace allowing for a proper pay off of Father Kim's two main partners. His first partner, Goo Dae Young, starts off as a foolish unlikeable corrupt goofball and turns into a brave passionate police officer who wants to protect the innocence at all costs while still being a goofball. Kim Sung Kyun does a great job in showing the duality of both forms of his character and acts as a great counterpart to Father Kim. Father Kim's second partner, Prosecutor Park Kyung Sun starts off as a crazy dirty backstabber who wants to get promoted at all costs and becomes a cunning brave, smart, and bold upholder of the law even if it makes her lose her job. Lee Ha Nee does such a perfect job with the role, really owning the craziness of the character. All of this is done through Father Kim's influence over them. Another person Father Kim influences in a good direction is Goo Dae Young's rookie partner, Seo Seung Ah, while she starts off already good and wanting to take on the corrupt Gudam gang, Father Kim makes he really brave and even stronger in her pursuit of doing good, I loved how Geum Sae Rok made her such a loveable character right from the start.

One of my favorite things the Fiery Priest did was it gave every main character a proper backstory on why they do the things they do which allows for a more in-depth look into the psyche of the character giving even more life and a feeling of natural connection to the characters. It's truly amazing how many character's got a proper backstory. The Fiery Priest held consistent to this all throughout the series which showed the screenwriter and director really knew their characters.

The supporting cast was fantastic with Father Kim's fellow clergy to his friends around Gudam especially Ssongsak, his growth as a character was amazing throughout the series, becoming a character I couldn't wait for the next scene he was in. Hwang Cheol Bum and his gang especially Jang Ryong were great fodder to Father Kim's fiery path of justice. Everything about this cast from the top to the very bottom was pure perfection, I wouldn't even change a single casting nor remove or add any single character.

The pacing of the Fiery Priest was perfect, it never once dragged on for even a single second. Every single scene had quality and entertainment which kept my eyes glued to my tv at all times watching this perfect K-Drama. The one slight disappointment I had was the quality of the filming which isn't the fault of anyone really, it's what SBS had given to the director but he did a wonderful job as is with it. The soundtrack from the OST to the background music is amazing, especially Hero by Norazo, it's such an energetic track that matches the fire and passion that Father Kim has.

This is my second K-Drama I have watched that was directed by Lee Myung Woo, the first I watched of his was Backstreet Rookie which was my first ever perfectly scored K-Drama, this man really knows how to put together a perfect cohesive and consistent K-Drama. Seeing Eum Moon Suk and Ahn Chang Hwan who both appeared and interacted with each other in Backstreet Rookie again in the Fiery Priest made me so happy, especially how they both developed a friendship toward the very end.

One final thing, I really loved how The Fiery Priest respected and treated Catholicism with honor and due diligence. Never once did I find anything disrespectful or offensive to my faith. Father Kim has become one of my all time favorite Catholic non-fiction heroes, he might even be in my Top 3 now next to Daredevil and Robocop!

I really really really love The Fiery Priest, I can't wait for the rumored second season! I'd recommend this K-Drama to absolutely everyone!
